Portland, OR

During any Thursday at high noon, you can find a few noble people who stand watch outside of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, in Portland, Oregon. We wait for word that Judge Jay Bybee has resigned or has been impeached from a court we love. The 9th Circuit is the best court in our land.

On March 29th of this year the Lone Vet was arrested along with his oxygen bottle called “little earl” (**Named after Congressman Blumenauer) by the Portland Police because he wanted to continue walking on the sidewalk in front of the Mittleman Jewish Center located on Capital Highway. Joe was on his way home and wanted to cross the driveway to tell his friends he was going home. Thus began the saga of why he was arrested? This was during a protest against fund raising for the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee, AIPAC. An order from the Police, security, AIPAC security, the Governor’s security, or the police acting for the center as a private security force was delivered to the protesters in the following manner.

Ladies and gentlemen of the 3rd District and all of Oregon, the Congress screwed you again. No vote on Healthcare. Not even a vote in the different committees have taken place. Democratic Majority Leader **harry reid said, something like, let’s go on vacation and screw the people. He did not let the vote happen now and will wait until the right wing radio stations start running their lies for the rest of the summer. harry is just a weenie, a man with no backbone and must be replaced. What the hell happened to the progressives since Roosevelt?

Single Payer is the best, why would you settle for less?

The lone vet was out and about on the bridges. Wednesday, July 15, 2009. I was on the Hawthorne Bridge from 0730-0900 with my orange sign that said:

It was fun to be on the bridge, it was a gorgeous morning and I had forgotten how invigorating it is to be out alone so early. One of my first impressions was the speed of the cycles going across was amazing, the friendliness of the people was inspiring and I had a ball. I was also proud of myself for standing and speaking to something that is so important to all of us this day. I will continue on Wednesdays to push for Single Payer on the bridge during rush hour. One of my next signs will say something like:

Town Hall my Ass!

I attended the fiasco called a Town Hall Meeting with Congressman** blumenauer and Dr. Howard Dean on Friday afternoon. The was the worst run “Town Hall” I have ever attended. At best it was a major screw up on the part of willie smith and the earlman and at worst was a planned shutout of any of the activists who support and are willing to fight for Single Payer. I was ashamed that I had spent 40 years in the democratic party, and was glad I finally left it in disappointment. This meeting was modeled after the bush/cheney idea of a Town Hall; control the tickets, load the place with party officials, and exclude any real people who might ask the hard questions. Willie Smith, you are a LIAR!

This is a petition to you to lead the Oregon Delegation to persuade President Obama to appoint a Special Prosecutor to investigate the Bush Administration to include but not limited to actions during their eight years of governing our nation. We and many other organizations feel that Bush/Cheney et al have violated our Constitution. We are outside your office in Portland, Oregon and will remain there each Thursday from high noon until 1400 waiting for your action.

I have just signed petitions to help save the wolves in Alaska, the dark witch gov. palin wants to continue shooting wolves from slow moving planes. Reminds me of the days when white assholes would shoot bison from trains going across the great plains. The second petition is to ask Canada to stop killing baby seals. They are slaughtered for their fur and the most efficient way of killing them is by crushing their brains so that the fur is not ruined. Signing petitions for me is not unusual, I sign so many that after filling out the info, from time to time, I am told that you already signed this one. After signing these two, the thought went through my heart that we are going to be known as “The Generation of Death.”

There are two minor things that bother me to the point of insanity, one is the wearing of the American Flag on your clothes to show--whatever. The second is a phrase used by politicians that goes like this, “The fact of the matter is….”

They said it was going to rain, they said it would be cold, they said it would be windy---they lied, it was a great fun day downtown, Portland. The chickens arrived on time, but that is another story, first let me tell what fun you missed today. The people in the area are warming up to us, more and more people are stopping and laughing at our picture of bush et al in the docket. The picture is making the rounds and if you don’t have one by now, let me know and for a small price or one child I will send you a copy. We also passed out more copies of “The War Crimes Times” and hung the reid & pelosi chickens from a tree. Two young women stopped and had to take a picture of our hanging chickens; they are from Belgium.

My Silence Cannot Be Bought

I've chosen to go to court rather than accept a payoff from the 9/11 victims compensation fund. Instead, I want to know what went so wrong with our intelligence and security systems that a band of religious fanatics was able to turn four U.S passenger jets into an enemy force, attack our cities and kill 3,000 civilians with terrifying ease. I want to know why two 110-story skyscrapers collapsed in less than two hours and why escape and rescue options were so limited.

Until the national organizations like UFPJ call for the occupation of the entire 535 district offices throughout the United States on the same day there will be no success, they will just ignore or laugh at our efforts. These creatures called politicians do not fear us and that is a truism that few of us have accepted. They do not respect us; they do not represent us in the halls of Congress.

So call for all the marches, protest and vigils and feel good, but please don‘t delude yourself that you are making change. Yes, the dems are as bad as the repubs because they know better--- they watch and do nothing. The last vote in the Senate concerning the slaughter of the Palestinians was unanimous and in the House only 5 out of 435 said no to a resolution indorsing Israel right to exist with our full support; during the time Israel was committing war crimes on a scale not seen in years.

Protest in Portland, Oregon will start on Thursday at high noon across from the fed building and will continue until the war criminals are brought to Justice. Our group called “Individuals for Justice” call on all citizens to join us if you can, otherwise when bush/cheney/rice/rummy or any member of the bush administration comes to your city/ town for a gig, go and protest their presence in your community. They should be hounded for the rest of their lives.

On the #4 bus, *little earl and I had a friend along for the ride, a cane to help me stand for long periods. We were off to see the judge, at 2:00 PM sharp, the notice and phone call indicated we were going to trial. I was hoping that it would happen because some of you were going to make the trip, and my fear was we would all be told to come back another day--but not so!

Arriving about 1:30 PM little earl, (with his bow tie on) was sent through the X-Ray machine with no fanfare, just picked up by a marshal and shoved through---I worried that he would explode, I was happy that there was no bang.

Some of the Individuals for Justice were standing outside Rm124 before I got there, hate it when that happens. I like being the first to arrive but took it in stride; actually, I was glad to see friendly faces.

KEEP FIGHTING FOR JUSTICE

Majority Leader *harry reid and Speaker of the House *nancy pelosi must be driven from power. They have screwed up the Congress so badly it is now hard to figure out who is in charge. We need change, not just in the criminal republican party but also in the weak-kneed democratic party. I call them the “watchers.”

The senate, under reid, has drawn so many lines in the sand, it’s beginning to look like a football field---a new line every ten yards. harry is famous for saying things like, “This is where we draw the line” and when someone, anyone, challenges him, he runs and draws another line in the sand. He is among the worst, as Keith Olbermann would say! We must put pressure on our senators to remove this creepy guy from the leadership of the Democratic Party. nancy is another matter that must be dealt with. She is a war criminal and must be tried for high treason.

I thought I had no tears left, I truly believe in my heart that the criminal family who has infested the White House for the last 8 years, and the do nothing democratic leadership for the last 4 years had taken my ability to cry. The brutal and immoral killings in Gaza by Israel have caused me to go back to yelling at the gods and weeping for our humanity. Why are monsters allowed to continue to kill at will, cripple any sense of caring, and laugh at the rest of the world? Are there more than one human species or many? How can bush, cheney,
barak, netanyahu and livni belong to the same species that I do? How is that possible?

Dear Congressman Blumenauer, 11/11/08

This is a good day to write and tell you how proud I am that you played a part in the election of Senator Obama. This is also a day to remind you that we, Individuals for Justice, remain outside your office every Thursday at high noon to demand that the Bush administration be held accountable for their many crimes against our Constitution. We will remain until January 20th, the day Bush leaves the White House, or you call for impeachment.

I will send copies of this letter to all the Oregon delegation and to Sen. Obama because they also play a role in determining what our new image to the world will be; time for talking is over, time for action is at hand.

As a veteran, (USN-1962-71) I was appalled that President Bush turned his speech on this day to more cheering for wars. The original intent of November 11th was to celebrate the cessation of hostilities on the Western Front in 1918.

When I wake up on November 5, I know that a new and exciting time will be at hand. Sen. Obama will be President Elect. I will be smiling from ear to ear; I will be a little “Giddy.” I will allow myself a few hours to watch the news and laugh at the republicans, but know that the real work is about to begin.

We must all stay in our groups, all the organizations that want justice, accountability, and peace must not disband, because the “Guy” got in, victory is not ours yet, we must work hard to make our voices heard in the halls of Congress and the White House. We have seen Sen. Obama move to the right and say things that must be said in order to be elected. We must now move him back to the left and fight for the America we all wish for and hope he is the “Guy.”

Please don’t think that we have done our work, it is not over until the rest of the world and our children feel the very thing that Sen. Obama says over and over, Hope!

Members of the public are invited to the world premiere reading of “The Trial of George W. Bush 2005” at the Friends Meeting House, 4312 SE Stark, Tuesday, October 21 from 7 to 9 p.m.
Written by Joe Walsh, the “Lone Vet”, this play sets a jury of such luminaries as George Washington, Barbara Jordan, General Patton, and Eleanor Roosevelt in judgment of George W. Bush. Twenty-one characters appear in this three-act play.
Admission is free, though donations are welcome to help defray expenses. Invite your friends. It will be a nice break from campaign blues. Finally, some accountability!

Last weekend started with a meeting Thursday to start the planning for the presentation of the Trial of George W. Bush, it ended by getting into a confrontation with Willy Smith and Mac Prichard about our protest outside of Prichard’s house. I have not seen Willy so upset, he was almost foaming at the mouth, telling me I had crossed the line by protesting at a private home. Willy told me in very clear language that if we blocked people coming in he would have us arrested. Prichard was angry about me upsetting his wife and ruining their fundraiser for the Earlman. I was kind of taken aback by their reaction, there were only three of us and we were not going to disrupt the party, just silently witness the continuation of the “Cocktail Liberals” telling themselves what peacemakers they are and how they want the war to end. Blumenauer after all, voted against the war! (He continues funding the occupation.)

Well, Thursday was a busy day for Individuals for Justice. We were at Earl’s place for our protest at high noon and four of us attended a “Town Hall” on Global Warming at 6:00 pm where Earl was going to take questions from his constituents. He did his usual speech about how wonderful he is and then announced he had to leave in a few minutes so that the fifty people who had lined up to ask him a question were going to be shut out. I was third in line so I did get to ask this question:

“Nancy Pelosi has said that new drilling will be considered,” Barack Obama has said, “Well maybe, if it is part of a package that includes alternative energy like wind, solar etc.” Will you guarantee to this audience that you will fight tooth and nail to stop all new drilling?”

He started one of his long winded answers, I cut him off and said, “It is a yes or no answer” He said in an angry voice NO!

This coming Thursday, the 17th of July will be our 1 year anniversary outside of the Earlman’s office. We have met every Thursday at high noon to bear witness to the destruction of the Bill of Rights and our Constitution. We will remain until impeachment hearings begin or Bush and his Dick leave the WH in January of 09.

In the year that we stood with our signs, occupying Blumenauer’s office, being arrested and threatened by the security force at 729 Oregon the following has happened:

Over five hundred soldiers have been killed in Iraq.

Tens of thousands of Iraqis have lost their lives, many of them children.

Many thousands have been injured to such a degree that families members must now take care of them for the rest of their lives. The casualties will not be known until we have a legitimate government in Washington.

Millions of people are now losing their homes.

Gas prices are through the roof.
