Army’s Death-Squad Inquiry

Why is it important to bring these extremely destructive acts, and yes criminal, into the light of day? First, if proven true, they've already killed and maimed brother and sister soldiers serving in theater in the blowback as these are only hidden incidents outside of an occupied country, they enhance the already growing international criminal terrorist ranks from the extremely failed policies followed and give proof to their once propaganda used against us, and will continue to do so if nothing is done! Second, a country that touts Law, National and International, and Condemns others must uphold their standards they preach and lead by example not words! Third, and very important, is the chain of command in theater must be investigated as well, these tragic incidents, any with proof that occurred, are carried out under a cloud of extremely poor leadership the soldiers are serving under and brings tragic results on them!

September 11, 2010 - The first shattering scene of the 21st century calls forth a reminder, an observation, and a suggestion.

Remember the Tuesday morning of Sept. 11, 2001, before the terrorist attacks? Crystal clear on the Eastern Seaboard, a brilliant turquoise blue sky. The people of the nation woke up in a generally contented mood--but a bit complacent and fat from seven years of peace and prosperity.

The Indefensible Drones: A Ground Zero Reflection

by Kathy Kelly

Libby and Jerica are in the front seat of the Prius, and Mary and I are in back. We just left Oklahoma, we're heading into Shamrock, Texas, and tomorrow we'll be Indian Springs, Nevada, home of Creech Air Force Base. We've been discussing our legal defense.

The state of Nevada has charged Libby and me, along with twelve others, with criminal trespass onto the base. On April 9, 2009, after a ten-day vigil outside the air force base, we entered it with a letter we wanted to circulate among the base personnel, describing our opposition to a massive targeted assassination program. Our trial date is set for September 14.

Four men arrested after shoes and eggs are thrown at Tony Blair at book signing

04 Sep 2010 - Four men have been arrested after shoes and eggs were thrown at Tony Blair as he promoted his controversial memoir in Dublin on Saturday.

Tony Blair is Certifiably Nuts

I just listened to this interview and can now say what many, me included, have thought all along, not only about him but as to our own previous administration, he's certifiably crazy! I mean that in the so called World View, especially of righteousness, he just spoke. What's going on has Nothing to do with any religious ideology but does for those who want to use that as their excuse, boy do they got some splanin to do at the pearly gates. He seems to Not Understand that humans going into others countries and Destroying Them as that Kills and Maims Tens of Thousands plus and Millions of Refugees is Not going to create Rage and Hatred, not only in those countries but from others on the planet. He and like are beyond nuts, Way Beyond!!

That they were blaming everyone else as they Supported that Incompetence, not only as to that but the emptying of our treasury, two wars and occupations of choice, tearing apart the constitutional rights of this country, the destruction of the economy {though that was coming with the con of trickle down capitalism anyway, the affore mentioned just hastened it and made it worse} and Oh So Much More.........................................!!

Endless War, Humanitarian Crisis, and Perpetual Resistance: U.S. Foreign Policy in the 21st Century

By Michael Schwartz, War Is A Crime .org

In 2009, the mainstream U.S. media reported with satisfaction that the Pakistani government had finally responded positively to the United States and NATO’s demands[1] for an aggressive military policy aimed at depriving the resurgent Taliban of “safe havens” in Pakistan.[2] The subsequent offensive, featuring a Pakistani invasion of these areas and aerial assaults by the U.S. and its NATO allies, and has become just another unexceptional element of the open-ended military campaign formerly known as GWOT (the “Global War on Terror”), but which, under the Obama administration has continued without a name. It receives little attention from the mainstream media, which is focusing its limited attention on Afghanistan, to the exclusion of the other “hot wars” the U.S. is currently conducting in Iraq and Pakistan.

Unions Are WRONG To Refuse To Build The Mosque

I've always believed in unions. I come from a long line of union members: steel workers, sanitation workers, office workers, police, fire, you name it. They're all in my family. My American family typifies the American working class. In fact, if all the unions represented by my family were to strike for a week, the whole country would suffer. Construction would stop. Crime would go undeterred. Fires would go unextinguished. And in my case, students would go untaught. Yes, I, too, am a union member. I'm a teacher.

Washington Orders Shahbaz Airbase Saved, not Pakistan's Flood Victims

Washington Orders Shahbaz Airbase Saved, not Pakistan's Flood Victims - by Stephen Lendman

With 20 million or more people affected, about 12% of the population, the equivalent of 37 million Americans, Pakistan's devastating floods are truly of biblical proportions, described by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as worse than anything he'd ever seen, saying:

"Thousands of towns and villages have simply been washed away. Roads, buildings, bridges, crops - millions of livelihoods have been lost. People are marooned on tiny islands with the floodwaters all around them (without food, sanitation, medical help, or shelter). They are drinking dirty water. They are living in the mud and ruins of their lives. Many have lost family and friends. Many more are afraid their children and loved ones will not survive in these condition."

August 20, 2010 - After handing down its first verdict in July, the international war crimes tribunal in Cambodia will next year hear the second - and possibly final - case against a former senior Khmer Rouge leader. A March of Folly

The Afghanistan war is turning into a march of folly

14 August 2010 - When the WikiLeaks exposé of raw United States intelligence data and reports from Afghanistan hit computers worldwide, commentators in Pakistan reacted with vitriolic broadsides. One spoke of “Neocon vampires … blood-thirsty Islamophobes … think tank irredentists … [Indian] revanchists … planning another dismemberment, so that they [can] continue their blood-fest in … Afghanistan.” Strong words, particularly when compared to US Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates, who was only “mortified” and “appalled” by the leaks.

WikiLeaks:

Rest of war documents to be released in a few weeks

08/14/10 - A spokesman for the WikiLeaks document-revealing website said Saturday that the 15,000 remaining documents on the Afghanistan war will be published within "two weeks to a month."

Last week, the Pentagon called on WikiLeaks to turn over the last of the documents, which the website said it was reviewing to redact information that would harm "innocent parties who are under reasonable threat." WikiLeaks fired back at the Pentagon's request that the website "do the right thing" with a series of tweets responding to "obnoxious" Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell. Continued

Afghanistan! Elections?

Easy to answer the subject title. So called repubs, who've been changing their labels since greatly defending the previous admin and those congresses, to libertarian at first and now tea party, don't want to be reminded of the failed policies and all the proof that showed they were wrong on everything, reason they also keep changing the 'rage' issues, and most dems don't want to do what this country Should Have Done Long Ago, Bring Accountability for the crimes committed by those who led and those around them, so the Destructive Debacle Wages On!!!!

Why isn't Afghanistan an election issue?

So Please Tell Me Again:

What's the Afghanistan War About?

August 8, 2010 - When facts are inconvenient, when international law, human rights and history get in the way, when war crimes can't easily be justified or explained away, when logic doesn't help much, the current crop of American political leaders turns to what is now the old reliable: 9/11.

We have to fight in Afghanistan because ... somehow ... it's tied into what happened on September 11, 2001. Here's Vice-President Joe Biden: "We know that it was from the space that joins Afghanistan and Pakistan that the attacks of 9/11 occurred." 1

Here's Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC): "This is the place [Afghanistan] we were attacked from 9/11." 2

American Stupidity

By John Grant

“Stubbornness and stupidity are twins.”
--Sophocles

What is it about Americans that they have so much going for them, yet they can be so very stupid?

Two stories in the Sunday New York Times jumped out as a sad backdrop to our misguided War On Terror.

The first is about the bigoted anti-Muslim xenophobia in New York over a proposed mosque some blocks from the site of the former World Trade Towers. The emotional volatility is being fueled by the usual Fox News agitators, and Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich stirred up the pot for their demagogic needs.

Even the Jewish Anti-Defamation League took off after the mosque and condemned it. Here’s the Anti Defamation League’s mission statement at the top of their web page:

The War on Terror:

Beyond the Military By Lt. Col. Barry Wingard
Aug 3rd, 2010

The U.S. government routinely uses the term “War on Terror” to describe its military efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan. But how do we really define this “War on Terror”? After all, terrorism dates back to at least the 14th century, and individuals, groups and even nations have employed it ever since.

It’s hard to argue that the deployment of a bigger gun or faster tank can actually alter the outcome of either the war in Iraq or Afghanistan, let alone defeat terrorism. The U.S. armed forces have undeniably defeated the organized militaries in Iraq and Afghanistan, but the question now is whether the military can obliterate the ideas and policies that drive the growing use of terrorism.

Afghan War Logs: what did we learn?

The subject title is the one from a Guardian report one of the participants in the Wikileaks document dump and explanations of.

In this first blockquote, and if in the U.S., think of all that you've read or especially heard since the three outlets, the Guardian where this comes from being one, helped bring out what the online Wikileaks had obtained and posted simultaneously.

One disappointed paper deliberately provided the Taliban with a to-do list: it drew their attention to specific Wikileaks documents they might inspect in order to take reprisals. The low point was perhaps reached by Channel 4 News, which respectfully quoted a "spokesman" for the bearded murderers, as he uttered promises of revenge on alleged informants. It felt like PR for the Taliban.
