Supporters travel from all over Texas and Across Country to Demand Truth
CRAWFORD, TX - On Saturday, August 13 at 12 Noon - Families who have loved
ones serving in Iraq and families whose loved ones have been killed in
Iraq join other supporters at a rally in Tonkawa Falls Park in Crawford
Texas. The Rally will feature speakers from Military Families Speak Out,
Gold Star Families for Peace, Iraq Veterans Against the War and Veterans
for Peace who have traveled across the country from Alabama, Arkansas,
California, Georgia, Massachusetts, Missouri, New Jersey, Oregon,
Pennsylvania, Washington and elsewhere. Military Families, Iraq War and
other Veterans, and peace activists will carry their message to the
vacationing President: Honor our fallen and honor our loved ones' service
by ending the occupation, bringing the troops home now and taking care of
them when they get here.
After the rally, participants will then caravan - in shuttle vehicles out
to "Camp Casey" with Cindy Sheehan on Prairie Chapel Road, not far from
the President's Ranch. At the encampment Cindy Sheehan and supporters will
speak about her efforts to meet with President Bush.

Ann Wright of Texas, a member Veterans for Pease, was a career foreign
service officer with the State Department who resigned her position in
March of 2003 in opposition to the war in Iraq.
Dante Zappala of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His brother Sherwood Baker
was the first Pennsylvania National Guardsman to die in combat since World
War II. He was killed in action in Baghdad on April 26, 2004 while
searching for non-existent WMD's. Dante is a co-founder of Gold Star
Families for Peace.
Speakers will include:
Hadi Jawad of Crawford, TX. He is the director of the Crawford Peace House
and will welcome supporters to the rally.
David Cline of New Jersey, is the National President of Veterans for
Peace. He served in Vietnam in 1967 as a rifleman with the 25th Infantry
Division. He was awarded three Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, CIB and other
medals. He is also disabled from the wounds he received.
Barbara Porchia of Camden, Arkansas. Barbara's son, Army Reservist Private
1st Class Jonathan Cheatham, was killed in action in Baghdad two years
ago, on July 26, 2003. She will be joined on stage with Celeste Zappala
and other members of Gold Star Families for Peace.
Celeste Zappala of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Celeste's son Sgt. Sherwood
Baker was the first Pennsylvania National Guardsman to die in combat since
World War II. He was killed in action in Baghdad on April 26, 2004 while
searching for non-existent WMD's. Celeste is a co-founder of Gold Star
Families for Peace. She will be joined on stage with other members of Gold
Star Families for Peace.
Lietta Ruger of Bay Center, Washington. Lietta's son-in-law and nephew
serve in the 1st Armored Division of the U.S. Army and are currently in
Germany. They have both served extended 15-month tours of duty in Iraq;
they are both under stop-loss orders and due to re-deploy to Iraq this
Linda and Phil Waste of Hinesville, Georgia. Linda and Phil have 3 sons
and 2 grandchildren (a grandson and a granddaughter) who are active-duty
military. Together, they have already spent a total of over 57 months on
tours of duty in Iraq. Several of these children/grandchildren are
currently serving in Iraq, and have served extended and multiple
Tim Goodrich of Los Angeles, CA, co-founder Iraq Veterans Against the War
served in the US Air Force and was in the Middle East during the invasion
of Afghanistan. After leaving the military he visited Iraq as part of a
Global Exchange trip in January of 2004.
Beatriz Salidvar of Fort Worth, TX. Her nephew Daniel Torres was killed
February 4th, 2005 in Baygii 155 miles north of Baghdad. On his 2nd tour
of Iraq. IED device exploded and hit his unarmored Humvee.
Jean Prewitt of Birmingham, Alabama. Jean's son Private Kelly Prewitt was
killed in action during the first few weeks of the war in Iraq, on April
Sheri Glover of Houston, TX has a 19 year old daughter who has completed
Active Duty Service in the US Army and is currently in the Individual
Ready Reserve and eligible for call back. Sheri is active in Disabled
American Veterans Auxiliary and holds the position of junior vice
commander of unit 9 in Houston.
Sue Niederer of Pennington, New Jersey. Sue's son, 1st Lieutenant Seth
Dvorin, was killed in action near Iskandariyah, Iraq on February 3, 2004.
Sue is a co-founder of Gold Star Families for Peace.
