NJ Activists Launch Movement for Impeachment
Labor Day Vigil at Congressman Jim Saxton’s Office, Part of National Effort
Mount Holly, NJ – Labor Day, members of Progressive Democracy South Jersey and North Jersey Impeach Group in co-ordination with Progressive Democrats of America and After Downing Street gathered together in front of Jim Saxton’s Congressional office with signs calling for the impeachment of George Bush and Dick Cheney.
The event attended by Bi-partisan Impeachment groups stated Bush and Cheney have committed impeachable crimes, lying to Congress and leading our country into a war of aggression, using illegal chemical& radiation weapons ,torturing and murdering prisoners, spying on thousands, maybe millions of Americans, in defiance of our laws.
A statement presented by Stuart Hutchison, organizer of North Jersey Impeach Group, outlined the crimes of the Bush administration, followed by the reading of the Resolution to be presented to the New Jersey State Legislature along with petitions signed by the residents of the state.
The vast majority of passersby’s were very supportive by honking their horns, waving, yelling and even a couple stopped their cars to sign the petition, proving the citizens of this country are demanding answers from their representatives why the Bush administration is not being held accountable for their crimes against our Constitution, that Bush swore to uphold, Bush’s total disregard of the Bill of Rights and gross violations of the Geneva Convention.
Currently, 21 states are in the process of passing Impeachment Resolutions based on Jefferson's Manual of Parliamentary Practice . The Manuel makes clear to the U.S. House of Representatives that impeachment proceedings can be initiated by a state legislature submitting charges.
The location of the vigil at Jim Saxton’s office in Mount Holly was chosen based on the fact, Saxton being a ranking member of the Armed Forces committee, has voted over 85% of the time in favor of the Bush administration policies, especially being Pro-war and Anti-soldier, recently voting against providing quality health care benefits for our service personnel and veterans and has done nothing to investigate the misconduct of this administration.
