U.S. Department of State Invites You to Attend a Special Briefing for Representatives of Nongovernmental Organizations
Gordon Gray, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State and David Denehy, Senior Advisor on Iran will brief on:
Iran: Challenges and Opportunity
Tuesday, May 16, 2006 • 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.
U.S. Department of State • Room 1105
U.S. policy towards Iran is entering an important phase, as the Iranian regime’s policies deepen that country’s international isolation. Iran’s abysmal human rights record, support for international terrorism, interference in Iraq, and nuclear weapons ambitions all pose challenges that the United States and its allies must address – starting with the UN Security Council’s action on Tehran’s continuing disregard for its obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. We must also find ways to support the majority of Iranians who seek reform and accountable governance. For a review of these issues, and the overarching challenge of bringing Iran back into the community of responsible nations, please join Deputy Assistant Secretary Gordon Gray and Senior Advisor David Denehy in a discussion of U.S. policy toward Iran.
Please enter the State Department via the 23rd Street entrance (between C & D Streets, NW),
where you will be met and escorted to the meeting room.
WE HOPE YOU CAN JOIN US. [Sure, they do.]
