HOW TO CONTACT CONGRESS.

Congresswoman Barbara Lee (Dem., Calif.) has introduced a Resolution of Inquiry in the House of Representatives (H. Res 375) which, if passed, will require the White House and the State Department to "transmit all information relating to communication with officials of the United Kingdom between January 1, 2002, and October 16, 2002, relating to the policy of the United States with respect to Iraq."

Here is a one-page PDF of the Resolution.

And here is a flyer to help you promote co-sponsorship of the Resolution of Inquiry by your congress member.

These are the members of the committee to which the Resolution has been referred. The more members of the full House co-sponsor it, the more likely some committee members are to vote for it.

Here are current co-sponsors:

Congresswoman Lee and Co-Sponsors, Thank You for making it official. I'm glad this was done before DSM Day. What's it going to take to get it passed?

...the 'waking up' of Americans!

How many of us have not bothered to pay attention to what has been going on over the past 40-45 years?

For one example: How many times has the Board of Regents LOWERED our Standard of Education? Three that I know of since 1971. This is part of, and is called 'The Dumbing of America'. All the drugs brought into this country (which, I firmly believe, the government CAN control) and all the 'feel-good' drugs prescribed so freely by doctors, is part and parcel of it...and much, much more.

The implications here speak for themselves!!!

If it's 'terrorists' that we're concerned about, why aren't our boys right here protecting US and OUR BORDERS?

It's time to put our intelligence to some use. It's time to start paying attention. It's time to start reading between the lines. (if it's not too late, that is)

Thank you Congresswoman Lee and Co-Sponsers for your bravery.

A lot more blood, sweat and tears you can be assured, with the Republican majority in the House. Even if the Resolution of Inquiry is passed, that still leaves the House Judiciary Committee the task to introduce Articles of Impeachment. But if we were able to get a Resolution of Inquiry this quickly, I feel confident that the House will do the right thing.

The Congress and Senate have a responsibility, an obligation to the people of this nation to investigate the legitimacy of the War in Iraq. Most of all they have an obligation to the families who have given the greatest sacrifice, the loss of a loved one. They have an obligation to those we have sent to do a duty that the nation was made to believe was just and necessary.
We the people of this nation have the right to know the truth and it is our duty and our obligation to demand it. Democracy requires respect for the laws, respect for the people, and the future of this country.
I am tired of this White House stone walling with regards to documents. I am tired of the open faced lies. I am tired of the propaganda that has been forced upon me. I am tired of the manipulations. I am tired of the smears used to coerce others by means of fear and intimidation. And by the way, I am tired of the stupid rallies I'm not invited to. I want my country back.

Emails. The HJC has 22 R's and 16 D's. The committee has a web page with a form which will send an email to the entire committee.

Now is the time.

That's six more Republicans than Dems. We need to convince at least four to support the resolution. Thx for the info. What is the URL to the committee's web page?

Don't forget your represenative.

I thought this will be referred to the House Int'l Relations Committee, not the HJC... I saw someone post an link to HJC members. Please clarify WHO we need to e-mail...??

The HJC decides whether, or not, to proceed with impeachment.

Would post the whole thing, but it’s a jpg file-can’t get it here.

May need to hear from the parliamentarian, but I think the HJC is the correct committee.

Does anyone know?

The House Judiciary Committee is the one that handles the Resolution of Inquiry, and is the one that conducts the impeachment investigation. So we need to be contacting the Judiciary Committee. Here's the whole process as succinctly as possible.

1) A petition to Congress.
2) Resolution of Inquiry introduced.
3) HJC approves Resolution of Inquiry.
4) House passes Resolution of Inquiry, investigation begins.
5) HJC introduces and (possibly) approves Articles of Impeachment.
6) House passes at least one article, President Bush is impeached.

"It is expected to be referred to the House International Relations Committee."

We may need to watch it to see where it is referred.

Waxman's policy comittee meeting.. Live on c-span3, Fri 10am-12pm edt. Hopefully a rerun on c-span soon.

Dear Rick:

Please cosponser your fellow representative's resolution re President Bush and communications with Great Britian and #10 Downing Street Memo communications.

I did a news search to see if anyone was covering the introduction of this Resolution of Inquiry, because I consider this to be big news, big enough for the corporate media. Not surprisingly though, I didn't find anything. Either it's too early for the media to be covering it (which I highly doubt), or the media is just too afraid to be covering it.

And don't expect to see it on Fox News!!!!!!!!!!! You're right. It's newsworthy and people deserve to hear about it.

Of course Fox News wouldn't dare cover it. And even if they did, expect to see a headline similar to this:

"LIBERALS ATTEMPT TO OUST BUSH IN COUP"

Or someting to the effect of:

"CONGRESSWOMAN LEE DEFENDS SADDAM HUSSEIN"

If they cover it, it would say " Democrats are unpatriotic and want Bush impeached"

Fox news covering bad news on Bush and the gang?.. forget it! they are so biased it is pitiful. In fact they only cover those whose opinions are against the Democrats.

While I hope I'm not sounding too militant, what if we found out the names and addresses of ABC, CBS, NBC, and CNN's (FOX NEWS is too pathetic) news chiefs, who for lack of a better term, have been nothing more than cowardly accomplices in the Bush Administration's kleptocracy. We then made this information available to the public to stage non-violent protests in front of their homes? Maybe then they'll wake-up and serve the public, like they're supposed to do, instead of the White House!

The resolution must be voted on in committee within 14 legislative days of its introduction. It is expected to be referred to the House International Relations Committee. The Republicans who control the committee may take the matter up right away, hoping to vote it down before the August recess. If they do not, they will be required to take it up by September 16th. The more Congress Members in the full House who co-sponsor the resolution, the more likely committee members are to vote for it.

http://www.democrats.com/peoplesemailnetwork/50
Committee members should be asked not only to vote for it but to discuss it at length and engage in a substantive debate when the committee meets, so that members who oppose it have to explain their reasons.

This Resolution is important because the information in the Downing Street Documents so strongly suggests that President Bush intentionally deceived Congress about the reasons for war. If that is not the case, then releasing the documents requested here will clear that up – something the President should be eager to do.

And I already sent an email out to the Judiciary Committee. Oh well, I'll send one to the International Relations Committee as well.

Let's begin praying right now that this resolution will be approved, passed and go forward with all proper procedures to get the job done right..That President Bush and all his cohorts will learn to accept the truth and quit lying to the American people

We all are together on this ... truth and justice for all.

It is time this Congress does the will of the people. We want an
inquiry, we want to get our country back on the right track again.
Come year 2006 there will be a new Congress in power. Until then
this Congress is not doing its job that they were elected to do,
protect and defend the Constitution of these United States. We are
tired of lies, smears, fear tactics. We are not dumb, we know what
is going on and it is time to END.

Sally has it right. It is time to have open inquiry of the Downing Street/Rovegate affair. One thing that has become clear is the worthlessness of most of our members of Congress. Too long has it become a comfortable club house for rich white boys who have never worked a real job, or had to even do their own shopping. Once elected, they live in an isolated world of other elites, don't even bother to read bills they vote on, and get wined and dined by corporate lobbyists. WE NEED TO FIRE MOST OF THEM. One thing we can do is really research new candidates running against them in the next election. Only when the Congressional sewer is cleaned out will government with checks and balances be restored.

Although a lot of Americans are consuming the news as it's given by the media on all major avenues, more and more Americans are becoming wary that this is not real news, but propaganda, The critical mass is past due to evoke the change that's needed for the contiuation of this country and I desparately urge you to respond to what has been taking place and do your part to save this country, before it's too late.

I try by best by writing letters to the editors of many newspapers to voice my opinion on all the ills taking place in our Country. Why don't you? It helps.

Long Overdue! It's been over two months since the Times of London [May 1, 2005] first headlined the Downing Street Memo in public and yet we still do not have it full vetted in the public arena, save for a few news outlets [Washington Post, New York Times].

Only by having a public and open Congressional hearing will it begin to sink into the body politic that the very motive for waging war on Iraq was nothing more than a ruse - a ruse to use any pretext - however flimsy - to remove a sovereign leader from power and to install our U.S. interests in that region ahead of all else, i.e. military bases, oil control.

Let the hearings begin in earnest and see where the truth really lies.

RIGHT ON Congresswoman Lee and Co-Sponsors, Thank you so Much for your diligence and hard work, I am very proud of being a Californian who has a wonderful represenative like Congresswoman Barbara Lee.

Are there NO honest Republicans who are willing to hold this misadministration to task? Why is the majority in favor of conspiracy, purjury, mass death, and distruction. Who are these people?

It is more important today than ever, regardless of the events transpiring in London, and particularly because of Rove(gate),to NOT let the DSM initiative slip or become overwhelmed. That is precisely the idea behind current events. Force the DSM and Rove OFF the front page, at any cost. The whole house of cards can be brought down by the DSM and Rove, and they know it. I KNOW that there are honest Republicans, who will stand up in the face of the fury and the bombast, and put America first, rather than partisan chicanery ...but where are they?

Where are they? I'll tell you...they don't give a hoot about anyone. The death of young Americans, no WMD, the deaths of thousands of Iraqi citizens, cover ups, leaks, blatant disrespect for the law, stolen elections and government lockdown of the media. There are NO honest Republicans, if there were, there would've been an on going investigation into this horrendous mess. Bush is a butcher. He needs to go back to hell where he came from. Satanist.

I have not seen an honest republican yet that would want to investigate Karl Rove and the rest of the White House gang. They go on TV and defend the administration on everything. They never admit to wrondoing. Fox and the reporters are the worst biased group of jounalists since they must adhere to the preaching of their republican boss. One day soon we will prove them all wrong when the investigation comes to an end.

If the logic trail leads to the fact that it was Cheney who ordered the HIT on Wilson as retaliation for his coming public with the truth, and if THIS is the actual focus of Fitzgerald's investigation, the RNC is digging Cheney's grave for him.

The RNC's disinformation co-conspirators are all over the airwaves reciting their talking points...one of which is that Joe Wilson was politically motivated to come forward with the facts about the Yellow Cake lie.

How Joe Wilson voted in the last election is his business. The man did his job.

By emphasizing the alledged POLITICAL nature of Wilson's actions, it shines a very bright light on Cheney's REACTION. If the allegation was that Wilson (as a private citizen acting within his rights) made a political statement in the writing of his op-ed letter (their claim, not mine), one can only surmise that any reaction by the other party would be politically motivated.

One problem...

Any American citizen has the right to speak his/her mind about politics - but when the Vice President orders the State Department to do a "Work-Up" for the sole purpose of enabling a smear campaign to destroy a political opponent...it's JAIL TIME!

What was the purpose of the work-up, DICK?

Note that the State Department had ALREADY CONCLUDED that the Niger/Yellow Cake claim was bogus PRIOR to Wilson being sent there. Cheney ordered that Wilson be sent there in the first place in order to develop evidence in opposition to that in Powell's Office. When Wilson came back with a conclusion reinforcing that of Powell's, Cheney went balistic, and broke the law.

Leave Bush out of this one (always assume they gave him plausible deniability and Cheney was the Hit Man). Go after Cheney and ALL of the co-conspirators who set this plan in motion, and then, covered it up. It may be that the only one not involved was Bush. Taking out Cheney and all of the Neo-Con co-conspirators on this particular issue would be enough to bring down the whole administration.

We don't know what Valerie Wilson's position was with respect to Iraq's possession of WMD, but since it was her job to know, and since Iraq had none, it is pretty safe to surmise that her position stood in stark contrast to the "facts" that the administration wished to portray in their rush to war. Cheney saw the chance to kill two political opponents at the same time, and took it.

Cheney Done It.

In my view, the people should demand that Bush be impeached for the mountain of lies his administration created to justify going to war with Iraq.

The man should be given a life sentence in JAIL!!!

What lies? Bush has such strong moral values. Clinton had a relationship out of marriage, and he destroyed the economy. That is what I hear time after time with repulican't supporters. What is wrong with their head, they are completely disillusioned. Is having a affair on your wife, really worse than destroying a whole country, misinforming the American public to go to war, having an escort act as a reporter to give softball questions, leaking CIA informants identities, having personal relationships with the Taliban and the Bin Laden family, destroying the environment, stopping the research to cure disease by not allowing stem cell research, war profiteering. I mean seriously WHERE ARE THE MORAL VALUES; I'll tell you where they are, there in the same place as the WMD in Iraq, THEY ARE NON EXISTENT!

MORAL VALUES....are you nuts? You call sending thousands of 18-year-olds off to die for an unjustified war, only to ultimately line one's own pockets with the increased stock prices due to rising oil prices moral?????????????? Bush's father, Bush I, had a 14-year affair with our own HEAD OF PROTOCOL, Jennifer Fitzgerald....look it up. 14-YEAR AFFAIR, and the media never touched him. This Bush is a cocaine addict and has a DUI, and his sidekick Cheney has another DUI...how moral is it to get behind the wheel when you're drunk. You're an uneducated, close-minded, believe-everything-FOX-News-tell-you idiot who's not even worth responding to. Get off your fucking high horse and learn the facts about this insane, loose-cannon idiot we have for a "president".

Even if the inquiry is not formally adopted, there is specific work that can still be done. [ More . . . ]

Imagine if you were not have the documents: Think of what questions you might ask. Share those. You may be surprised by the "other sources" that already exist in public that can help answer these questions.

The key will be to share the questions one might ask once these documents show up. This might be a catalyst for others to ask the questions in new places. I have more thoughts here which are far too long to place on this site.

Pres Bush needs to be impeached for many wrongful acts taken while in service of his country. He got the country mired in a war that he wanted and that was based on lies he gave to the amreican people and congress. He is also proecting Karl rove who leaked the name of a CIA agent to the press and they both should be taken to court.

Remove Bush NOW and imprison him for war crimes and Karl Rove for treason!!!

I join you in the belief that Pres. Bush must be impeached. Our country is being systematically destroyed to allow for a theocracy. Americans are not getting the message so something outstanding needs to be done to get their attention. Thank you for your work.

I join you and others in the belief that George Walker Bush, Dick Cheney and others in this current administration should be impeached for war crimes and treason.

I think so much damage has already been done to this country and to our relationship with the rest of the world, especially the middle east, that impeaching this criminal administration will only be the beginning. At this point it would probably serve more as a symbolic gesture to all the world that this country is not totally morally and ethically bankrupt. It would also serve as an example that our democracy, such as it is, does function and can cleanse itself from within. We cannot turn away from this. This is a defining moment and the thought that nothing will be done about this corrupt government is really too sickening to consider.

I have always thought that IF we could get honest elections in '06 and take back the house and senate, and IF we could impeach and convict Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Pearle, Ferth (sic?), and a few dozen others, that we would be half-way there!

Then, the Democratic President of the United States (whomever wins the mighty fight to be Speaker of the House) would need to hand the convicts over to the World Court at the Hague and be prepared to live with the consequences.

Personally, I don't think there are many Democrats with the spine to do that, but that would help us to re-take our place among the community of nations.

Simple, but not easy.

GEORGE W BUSH WILL HAVE A JUDGMENT DAY-- ALIKE HITLER,STALIN,SADDAM AND OTHER TYRANTS.

on the way to impeachment and jail do a drug test on him beacause like hitler who before him was on drugs he fits the profile of someone who is doing cocaine and i think he is still doing it. how else could someone lie, be cruel, demagog, be a hitler clone otherwise.
i was trying to think of one kind thing he has done and i cant.

Our country is being run now by extremely wealthy white-trash. Bush is our answer to Germany's Hitler.

1. 30 years ago we missed the boat on funding alternative energy programs. Too many fossiles in government.
2. We began and continue to either underfund the poor or allow our women and children to live in the streets.
3. We betray our spies.
4. We have been suckered in by these men and fund Air Force One. Leave them no escape when we are bombed by terrorists.
5. And now we allow torture on children over 100 who are held in our prisons.
6. WE live on 420 Billion Dollars from illegal aliens. We've taken
their money because they're too afraid to claim it.
7. A Christian Country? I don't think so. Why is it so hard for these men to do the right thing?
