Third Anniversary of the Downing Street Memo

Institute for Public Accuracy

On Saturday, July 23, over 300 events organized by the AfterDowningStreet.org coalition and Rep. John Conyers will mark the three-year anniversary of the meeting at No. 10 Downing Street in London that was recorded in the now infamous minutes known as the "Downing Street memo." Members of Congress will be hosting some of the events, including ones in Detroit, Inglewood, Calif., Seattle, Oakland, Calif., and New York City.

BOB FERTIK, http://www.afterdowningstreet.org Fertik is co-founder of the group After Downing Street. He said today: "The invasion of Iraq was a war crime based on lies. A recent Zogby poll found that 42 percent of Americans believe George Bush should be impeached if he lied about Iraq, and the Downing Street minutes prove that Bush lied." [This Saturday from 2-4 p.m. Bob Fertik will moderate an event at the New York Society for Ethical Culture that includes Rep. Maurice Hinchey and former Rep. Liz Holtzman.]

TIM GOODRICH, ivaw_west@ivaw.net, http://www.ivaw.net Goodrich is co-founder of Iraq Veterans Against the War, a member of the After Downing Street coalition. He will be speaking at an event on July 23 in Inglewood, Calif., hosted by Rep. Maxine Waters. From a family with a tradition of military service, Goodrich grew up in Buffalo, N.Y., and enlisted in the Air Force at the age of 18. He deployed overseas twice in support of Operation Southern Watch (patrolling the southern "no-fly zone" over Iraq) and once in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (operations against Afghanistan), where he earned combat veteran status. His last deployment was spent supporting the bombing of Iraq before the formal commencement of hostilities. Goodrich said today: "Downing Street memos show without a doubt that Bush and Blair were intent on invading Iraq despite the diplomatic outcome. This is a betrayal of trust to the people of the world and there must now be accountability, combined with immediate withdrawal of all occupying forces in Iraq." Last month, Goodrich testified in the World Tribunal on Iraq where he said: "I was there in Iraq in fall of 2002 when the war was already happening even though it was not officially announced. We were dropping bombs then, and I saw bombing intensify as a part of the 'softening up' of Iraq's defenses. All the documents coming out now, the Downing Street memo and others, confirm what I had witnessed in Iraq. The war had already begun while our leaders were telling us that they were going to try all diplomatic options first."

DAVID SWANSON, david@davidswanson.org Swanson is co-founder of the group After Downing Street. Swanson said today: "Working together, using the Internet and other forms of new media, hundreds of thousands of regular citizens have come together to force the issue of Bush's pre-war deception onto the national agenda."

I think it is highly instructive that the President who lied to the Congress to lead the Nation into a quagmire, as deep as the one in Vietnam, was himself a draft evader during the Vietnam War.
No one with out his family influence and privelige could gain santuary from the draft, in the Texas Air National Guard, during that conflict! If "W" had experienced the tragedy of war in Vietnam, he might possibly have learned something about the human cost of war, and the limmits of military power.

You are right about Bush but do not forget that almost the entire cabinet in this important decision making process is of the same ilk. Cheney leading the way with his brazen efforts to do ANYTHING to get out of combat.

St. Germain 07.21.05

As we have often said, if you could only be at our level of awareness you would have no concern at the outcome of events that are being played out on Earth at this time. To reach the point that will allow a major change to come forth, requires many pieces to be in place in a great panorama of human endeavor. We are of course fully involved, but a lot of the impetus comes from you and your actions. It is quite astounding how you have taken matters into your own hands in such a short time.

Within reason we can exercise some control and input to give power to your actions, as we know what obstacles are being placed before you. It is part of our responsibility to ensure that you progress satisfactorily, and we will not tolerate any major interference. You have made it clear that you find the actions of your government unacceptable. They pay little if any attention to your pleas for change, and it is therefore necessary for us to play a part. No government can break its oath of allegiance to the people with impunity and without answering to higher powers.

The time has long arrived that the actions of a few that have controlled the future of the masses shall be changed. The power that they wield will suddenly be removed and steps taken quite quickly to reverse the situation. I recently said that July would be an interesting month, and it has certainly not lacked events of an eye catching nature. Sadly, not all of them are welcome but short of our absolute interference they could not be stopped, and are all part of the final cleansing. I know some of you find that difficult to accept, but all of the time you create your reality and in so doing it must be allowed to manifest. What we can do, is use every opportunity to bring the right response from you to minimize the effect.

A natural response from you to the heinous acts carried out is one of outrage and anger. We work to turn that away from becoming fear, into a positive response that will bring more light to the outcome. Many people in places of authority are beginning to listen to their conscience, and realize that they have a greater responsibility to mankind than their employers. You can be paid to keep quiet and not see what is before your very eyes, but your conscience will keep pricking you. Intuitively you all know that you should be working for the good of all, and with the raising of the energies upon Earth there is much more enlightenment amongst you.

You have a collective consciousness that impinges upon you all, and the Light is so much stronger than anytime before. It has the affect of transmuting the lower energies and therefore raises the level of Light even further. It is like a snowball rolling downhill, and as it gathers momentum it becomes larger and with a force that is unstoppable. You can now see how we can be so sure that you have already achieved victory over the dark. Outwardly it is not so apparent from your viewpoint, but even you must at times sense the growing frustration of the dark.

Our advantage is that we know how many times their plans have been foiled. Many times we of the spiritual hierarchy have confronted your leaders, and I can assure you we do not need an invitation. They have been warned for many years that they were taking mankind down the wrong road, but have ignored our advice or offers of help. There is not one high powered meeting that is not monitored or attended by us. We know precisely what their plans are and this is how we can mitigate some of the damage. We could bring a complete halt to the proceedings, but without the Creators bidding we cannot take such a decision ourselves.

There has to be order in the Universe and laws exist to ensure this is so. To break them would incur a karmic penalty that would require such misdemeanors be made good. It is not that such “interference

Thank you. That particular perspective is just what I needed.
God bless.
