Protest Rove This Evening
By MoveOn.org
Tonight Karl Rove will be the keynote speaker at a fundraiser in downtown Washington for Republican Congressman Jim Gerlach (PA-6th). Gerlach’s election next year will be one of the toughest in the country so you’d think he’d be smart enough to keep his distance from Rove—who betrayed the identity of an undercover CIA operative. But Gerlach is sucking up to the Karl Rove cash cow. We need to draw attention to Gerlach’s failure to put his patriotism before his political ambition.
So, here is the plan. Tonight we’ll gather at 6:15 PM (or a little early) at 1700 Pennsylvania Ave NW for a peaceful protest (signs will be provided). The media is expected to attend and we especially expect media from Gerlach’s hometown to attend. We’ll have a peaceful picket for about 45 minutes with some chants while Rove is upstairs at the fundraiser, the media will get their pictures and footage and then we’ll go home.

I am against Picketing, but I don't know how to show it.
Mitch,
Just one question. Why are you against picketing? This is not some labor strike. This is an expression of peoples' views which are counter to the views of those in power. Peaceful protest with signs expressing in a concise and effective manner the views of the opposition to the Bush administration are the way to get the message out for all to see and become interested.
People, you gotta start being on your own side, instead of the bad guys side....stick up for yourselves. No-one else will.
Peaceful protests and strikes are good for the people , therefore good for the country. Frankly, the ones who make them un-peaceful are goons hired by the bad guys.
Amen to that. Have you been following the SF Chronicle union negotiations? They've got their management all geared up to take over. They've got a manager who is treating the whole thing like a war game. They have temps ready to step in and take up the slack. This company wants their work done, but for very much less than they're paying out now. It's all about profit and to hell with the people who actually do the work. What comes to mind is that bible verse about not binding the mouths of the kine that tread the grain, or something along those lines.
I've never had something for nothing in all my life, and someone wants to take away what I've worked for all my life so they can increase their profits? I don't think so.
They not only underestimate our intelligence, but also our resolve.
But especially, they underestimate our numbers on the blogs.
Make a sign put it on a stick and when you see a group picteting walk around in front of them chanting "down with picketing". Sorry I couldn't resist that . The media isn't covering the issues but if we picket they will cover our civil disobedience and the message gets out. Pretty tricky eh?
I think Mitch is making a joke... you've got to maintain a sense of humor even faced with this Administration...
Some people might miss CSI if they picket.
Now that's important!
not one to butt in but Richard i think Mitch was being sarcastic as apposed to serious
Heh heh...Mitch said "pick it" ;)
and furthermore, there is NO talk about lowering the cost of living. Bush talks about sending jobs off shore since americans don't want them. We do want them. But the reason a person works is so that he/she can pay their expenses in this world. Prices keep going up...wages keep going down. Then throw in the piracy committed by companies like Enron, the fraudulent increases in insurance, the lack of regulation of any of this...and guess what? The American Middle Class is a thing of the past.
At 6:20 pm est, everybody that can, turn on all your electrictal apliances. run the hot water to activate your hot water heater (if electric)and all your electric appliances and perhaps it will knock out the elect grid! this is an old revolution tactic by Abbey Hoffman
