Have you ever heard the sound of a mother screaming for her son?
The torrential rains of a mother's weeping will never be done.
They call him a hero, you should be glad he's one, but,
Have you ever heard the sound of a mother screaming for her son?

Have you ever heard the sound of a father holding back his cries?
They say he must be brave because his boy died for another mans lies.
The only thing he allows himself are long, deep sighs.
Have you ever heard the sound of a father holding back his cries?

Have you ever heard the sound of taps played at your brother's grave?
They say he died so the flag will continue to wave,
But I believe he died because they had oil to save.
Have you ever heard the sound of taps played at your brother's grave?

Have you ever heard the sound of a Nation Rocked to Sleep?
The leaders want to keep you numb so the pain won't be so deep,
But if we the people let them continue, another mother will weep.
Have you ever heard the sound of a Nation Rocked to Sleep?

The sounds my daughter wrote about in her inspired poem, so poignantly and amazingly a few weeks after her brother, my son, was killed in Iraq, have been repeated over and over again too many times since the criminal invasion/occupation of Iraq began in March of 2003.

These sounds are imprinted in my DNA. I will never, ever forget the night of April 4, 2004, when I found out that Casey had been killed. After what seemed an eternity, I finally began to wonder who or what was making those horrible screaming noises. Then I realized it was me. It couldn’t have been Casey’s father, because he was paralyzed in stunned silence holding the pair of pants he had been folding when the deliverers of death news arrived.

I will also never forget the day when we buried my sweet boy, my oldest son. I’ll never forget the playing of taps, or the violent, and in hindsight, thoughtless, volley of the 21-gun salute. If I live to be a very old lady and forget everything else, I will never forget when the general handed me the folded flag that had lain on Casey’s coffin, as his brother and sisters, standing behind me, sobbed.

The saddest thing about the obscene sounds of violence is that they never should have been heard in the first place. From Maine to California, and from Baghdad to Falluja, these dirges were unnecessary. In my travels, and from hundreds of emails, phone calls, and cards and letters, I am discovering that people who formerly supported the invasion of Iraq are withdrawing their support. I even believe that many of our fellow citizens who still support the ignominy of Iraq are doing so because they are clinging to the deceptions so desperately, because they want the deceptions to so be the truth. It will be painful to come to terms with supporting the lies of this administration. It will be painful to know that wholesale killing of innocent people occurred because you and so many others believed the betrayals, but acknowledging the mistake is the first step to correcting it. And believe me, acknowledging the mistake is not as painful as hearing those devastating sounds.

Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC) has realized that he had been duped into supporting the invasion. I have spoken to him about his change of heart, and he is so sad that his wholehearted support of the administration helped cause so many good people to hear those gut wrenching sounds of grief. But he is going forward to do what he can to end this occupation as soon as possible. He has co-sponsored a bi-partisan bill (HRJ 55) with other Congressional leaders like Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) and Ron Paul (R-TX) to force our administration into a troop withdrawal beginning October 1, 2006. The bill is a good first step to ensuring that families here in America and all over the world do not have to suffer needless death in war. However, I would like the withdrawal to begin tomorrow, because I don't even want to try and imagine the sounds Casey heard before he died. I don't want to imagine the sound of the bullet strong enough to pierce the Kevlar coating on his helmet to rip through his skull. I don’t want to know the sounds of a mother in Iraq wailing for her entire family. These sounds need to stop immediately. It is time to bring our troops home.

The sound I do want to hear is the sound of a Nation Waking Up. I will rejoice to hear the sounds of the collective Mea Culpa and the beating of breasts. I want to hear the deafening clicks as the steady stream of news-o-tainment is turned off, propaganda that is turning us into zombies who are numb to the truth. I want to hear the sound of our children getting off planes and boats from Iraq to the joyful squealing of their children and the deep sighs of relief from their spouses, parents, and other loved ones. I want to hear our citizenry lifting up their voices in chorus and singing, "We will never let this happen again."

The sound i want to hear is the sound of the judges gavel striking the bench in the call to order in a United States courtroom. The sound i want to hear is the sound of the jury foreman reading a sentence of guilty to the charge of crimes and high treason committed by President Bush. The sound i want to hear, TO REALLY HEAR, THE WHOLE PLANET TO HEAR, IS THE JUDGE SENTENCEING EX PRESIDENT GEORGE BUSH TO TEN YEARS IN A FEDERAL PRISON! regretible as it may be, that is the sound i truly want to hear.

Cindy, I too cry for you and your family.

The day bushandco are convicted I will cry again. They will be tears of joy.

The american left and center etc. needs to stop once and for all being afraid of Bush and his big bad corporate fascist empire.

Bush is nothing more than an abused and destroyed pawn.

PNAC contains Wolfowitz, Douglas Feith, Michael Ledeen, David Wurmser, Dick Cheney, Ahmad Chalabi and other known turn-coat traitors to the United States.

THEY are the real president of the united states, and remember they are insane. What we should all be doing is marching and invoking citizens arrests and other, in addition to aiding the F.B.I.

They did this in Ohio and Blackwell was forever shamed, in fact the hearings on the Ohio vote irregularities were so vicious the police had to step down and get the hell out of the way.

Remember, THIS is a problem:

http://www.countthevote.org/cynthia_2005/list.htm

PNAC and friends have always wanted the ultimate corporate consolidation of power. John Bonifaz and others must know this clearly. The control of the VOTING was to be outsourced just like JOBS, and that means a destruction of civil rights.

What we MUST do is organize, organize and fight them until Cheney is removed!!!!!! It will happen, do not be afraid or hold back. They are on the full defensive now and we have our OWN media that is far more powerful than theirs!!!!

Remember a country is only as doomed as its people, are misinformed.

Doug E.

quite an inspirational and moving piece by your young lady (very talented too, BTW :o). I'm sure you are proud of her, and so are we !

And Doug, you are an inspiration as well... we only need to fear fear itself ! You are correct of course, the sleeping sheep do not realize how insidious PNAC is , and it will not stop until they are RICO'd and in the slammer forever.
They are of course the organized crime racket that runs our nation.
Ignorance is not bliss, our American brothers and sisters must wake up and smell the coffee to organize collectively against this huge mob.

I have also brought up in previous posts that we need to get to the ROOT of the problem, which is that these thugs are abusing the Non-Profit Organization (NPO)laws. There must be a legal way to disband PNAC now. They can de-charter hazing frats , why can't we legally disable PNAC with simple hazing laws today? NPO's were meant for charities like Hospice and community-based service like Girl Scouts of America. NPO's were not institutionalized to shelter violent thug tanks. I believe you said it more clearly- Bushco outsources with privatization. Well, that is how PNAC infiltrated our government...they were a privatized war machine hiding behind an NPO, with tax exemption ! I'm surprised the Mafia didn't think of it sooner... well they did when they infiltrated labor unions, but Bobby Kennedy took care of that. That's why Hoffa hated Bobby Kennedy so much.

How do we do citizens arrests? I have brought this question up on other posts with no reply...

I found a legal website about NPO's. Hopefully there's a lawyer out there that knows how to use these laws against PNAC, to disable it?

http://www.muridae.com/nporegulation/legal_basis.html

forever keeping this awful band of thugs away from the entire world .

All your posts are excellent and correct.

Cindy I am sorry, but that's not good enough.
Words are easy,we must all fight to right a wrong that is in our government.
I to have felt this wrong and I will fight with my last breath to free America.
I read some where a question "are the Americans ready for the truth",YES THEY ARE.
They may be shocked and not like it,but the truth of the corruption must come out.
Many do not want to admit they made a mistake or were conned by the Bush administration, but the truth must come out to free America!

Cindy your pain will be recognized once the truth comes out!
Know that many are fighting for you and the many others that have suffered from the Bush administration.

Cindy, Everything you have said gives me hope that George W. Bush and his pals will someday be brought to justice for starting the Iraq war and for all their other evil deeds. Because you have spoken out, many of us are grateful, for we can envision the day when even those who were duped by this administration will wake up. If I were a Republican, I would change my registration, out of shame. And I truly believe that anyone who still supports Bush is either unintelligent, in denial, or profitting financially from what they are doing. I also believe that most people are honest, and that some day the truth will prevail. My heart goes out to you.
