Karl Rove: Soft on terror

By Keith Olbermann, MSNBC

SECURED UNDISCLOSED LOCATION -- Karl Rove is a liability in the war on terror.

Rove -- Newsweek’s new article quotes the very emails -- told a Time reporter that Ambassador Joe Wilson’s trip to investigate of the Niger uranium claim was at the behest of Wilson’s CIA wife.

To paraphrase Mr. Rove, liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers; conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 and the attacks and prepared to ruin the career of one of the country’s spies tracking terrorist efforts to gain weapons of mass destruction -- for political gain.

Politics first, counter-terrorism second -- it’s as simple as that.

In his ‘story guidance’ to Matthew Cooper of Time, Rove did more damage to your safety than the most thumb-sucking liberal or guard at Abu Ghraib. He destroyed an intelligence asset like Valerie Plame merely to deflect criticism of a politician. We have all the damned politicians, of every stripe, that we need. The best of them isn’t worth half a Valerie Plame. And if the particular politician for whom Rove was deflecting, President Bush, is more than just all hat and no cattle on terrorism, he needs to banish Rove -- and loudly.

Because it’s starting again. I was in the checkout line in a supermarket last night when one of New York’s countless little old ladies barked out something at the cashier: “Miss? Who does this bag belong to?

Oh my God...you mean "corporate-owned media" actually has someone still working for them with integrity, intelligence, honesty and the "cojones" to speak the truth? Way to go, Keith!! I thought all you national news media types were shuffling around behind your CEOs shadows, trying very hard to be invisible, and then waving the flag and yelling "Love that George Bush!" if you were actually seen by the management! How utterly refreshing! [if not exceedingly rare..]
Listen, when you get fired for speaking up and telling the truth, let me know and I'll put you up during your job hunt...

I wrote the following early this morning to 300-plus journalists in America. By their well orchestrated attack on Scott McLellan today in the White House Briefing Room, I'd like to think that those of us imploring the media to develop a spine are having some effect. Encourage journalists to band together and fight these bastards:

"We need your help. It's time to be a journalist again.
If ALL of you do your jobs, Rove and these thugs can no longer intimidate you.

Please focus on the NEWS. DARE to ask the toughest questions, and for
God's sake, FOLLOW UP with a question that actually gets to the ANSWERS.

America needs you.

Thank you."

Keith's show is the best on TV for the TV news networks. I never miss him and The Daily Show on Comedy Central. Who would have thought we could hear the truth on shows that point out the events of the day with a comedic touch! Love Keith's blog. Also, I loved the questioning of the reporters at the White House press room today. Keep demanding the truth, Media!!! Start more questioning of the White House about the DSM, too!

Keith,
This that you have done is what we need from all of you at MSNBC, and all the other major networks. It is being associated with terrorist or advocates of terrorism. I like you and many other librals want terrorism to stop. I want Osama captured, is not that the reason we went to war?

Great job, and keep on publishing your thoughts here.

Keith,
This that you have done is what we need from all of you at MSNBC, and all the other major networks. To be libral is being associated with terrorist or advocates of terrorism. Which is a big fat lie.

I like you and many other librals want terrorism to stop. I want Osama captured, is not that the reason we went to war?

Great job, and keep on publishing your thoughts here.

Who's this Osama fellow?

The reason we went to war was to capture oil and drive its price higher.

Didn't get the memo?

Keith:

Last night I read your piece and was ecstatic with your vigorous summary of the current administration. What a refreshing breath of fresh air coming from a mainstream media outlet. Can you share with us whether you needed some sort of clearance with the higher-ups at the network or GE? I watched you for a long time going back to your years working in the toy department (sports @ ESPN) and always found your work to be entertaining and, more importantly, thought provoking.

You are now one of the first of the MSM to take what must be a difficult stand with the surrounding colleagues who continue to toe the company (i.e. administration) line.

Continue to take the leadership position as the MSM's voice of conscience.

Yesterday morning I sent this to the Key White House Journalists and others:

"We need your help. It's time to be a journalist again.
If ALL of you do your jobs, Rove and these thugs can no longer intimidate you.

Please focus on the NEWS. DARE to ask the toughest questions, and for
God's sake, FOLLOW UP with a question that actually gets to the ANSWERS.

America needs you.

Thank you."

Today, it's time for a new message...

The key White House Reporters obviously engaged in a bit of a conspiracy of their own yesterday (finally) to take these bastards on in numbers rather than individually. The tide has turned.

Obviously McClellan has made it known that he will stonewall the media on any questions pertaining to Rove. Today I'm going to be sending out more e-mails suggesting the following of these reporters:

"THANK YOU from all patriotic Americans, THANK YOU for holding McClellan's feet to the fire and making him personally accountable to the people of this country, for whom he works.

Next step:

As this administration has obviously CONSPIRED to prevent you from learning the truth, it's time to counter these tactics with a conspiracy of your own. If ALL OF YOU collectively refuse to ask any question other than those pertaining to Rove's Treason, The White House Press Briefings will themselves become an indictment of this administration. McClellan lied right to your faces, repeatedly, and now he doesn't want to talk about it?

Consider this strategy to be a Press Fillibuster - for as many days as it takes - until McClellan or the President himself ANSWER THESE QUESTIONS. Let's see how the opinion polls deal with a few days of "No Comment" from the President's spokesperson, or the President himself.

There are NO OTHER TOPICS to ask questions on until these questions are ANSWERED (unless of course they want to switch the subject to who was actually behind 9/11 and what Dick Cheney and NORAD were really up to on that morning)."

Enough with the investigating. Rove fits the White House description of an illegal enemy combatant. He tried to get a US govt agent killed and he wasn't wearing a uniform when he did it. Hood him up and ship him to Cuba. Let the torture begin. This enemy combatant has much to tell.
