Bill O'Reilly Forced to Talk About Impeachment

By davidswanson - Posted on 17 January 2006

Brad Friedman of www.bradblog.com reports:

Just after the bottom of the first hour of today's O'Reilly show (after a *superb* interview with Jonathon Turley, in which Turley made a great case for the impeachment of Bush, despite O'Reilly's best effort to minimize what Turley was saying! I hope to be posting that complete interview at BRAD BLOG if I can get a copy of it).

But after the bottom of the hour...O'Reilly took calls, folks said this was impeachable stuff, and O'Reilly (at about :49 minutes after the hour) said "the American people support Bush spying with the NSA". That's a paraphrase.

A caller said O'Reilly was wrong, that a new poll said 52% to 43% favored mpeachment. O'Reilly didn't believe him, "What poll is that?" asked 'Reilly. "Zogby" said the caller. "Let's look up that Zogby poll," said O'Reilly before the break.

After the break, he came back and -- laughingly said something along the lines of what the caller didn't tell us, was that the poll by AfterDowningStreet.org, a "hate Bush group".

Further, he went on to say (exactly quote), this "Wasn't a Zogby poll by Zogby, it was by AfterDowningStreet.org, a hate Bush group".

A caller at the end of the first hour, just now, said this is the first poll
to ask the question about impeachment, versus the other polls (which
O'Reilly has been using to suggest Americans were in favor of Bush) which
only asked if Bush should be allowed to wiretap terrorists.

The caller understood the difference.

He also pointed out that America did not support the Impeachment of Clinton
(only 30%) despite the fact that O'Reilly has been going on the whole hour
saying that Bush won't/can't be impeached because the American people don't
support it.

__________

For the record, After Downing Street does not support hatred of anyone. Impeachment yes, hatred no.

Further for the record, we paid Zogby to do the poll. Zogby did the poll.

The word "impeach" on national tv, under ANY cirsumstances, is a great thing...why?

Millions of people saw the o'reilley show, and are now debating it at home. It doesnt matter if he is against it, he said it, and it's now out there.

He also said the words afterdowningstreet.org, and they hear that as well, people will come to the site just to see whats up.

Keep repeating the word 'impeach' on blogs (especially conservative ones) on tv, in real life, everywhere, to get people debating it. It could be just a simple thing like..."so what do you think about all thsi impeachment stuff?"...

The more people talk about it, the more it becomes a real possibility in peoples lives...

Neocons and truth are like vampires and sunlight, they can't live with it and so run and hide when it comes after them.

Why are the American people in a state of denial about this administration? The evidences has shown how corrupt these people are without remorse. I guess we love liers and murders more than the truth. What else have to happen before the people in this Country start to except reality. Impeachment is not enough for all the lying, murdering and deceit to the nation. All the innocent soldiers and civilians have died for what? Make no mistake about it the Lord will judge us all for the work we have accomplishment good and bad.

After Downing Street is not a "hate Bush group". They are a coalition of dozens of various groups and individuals, military people included, all committed to the rule of law and accountability for the brazen crimes of the Bush administration.

To recognize criminal malfeasance on the part of our government and be unafraid to speak publicly about it is to demonstrate true patriotism, not hate.

ADS paid Zogby to do the poll which shows that the majority of Americans (52%) do indeed suport the impeachment of the president for ordering illegal wire tapping. It is indeed a Zogby poll.

If you're smart enough to have your own show on national television, you're smart enough to put aside your political bias long enough for an objective review of the undeniable facts. But I suppose having the nerve to do so is another issue.
