BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. – This was the year it was fashionable to avoid making political statements backstage. That is, unless you were the journalist posing the loaded question.

"What will it take to impeach George Bush?" George Clooney was asked after he won the Golden Globe for supporting actor in the political film Syriana. "He wasn't even elected."

Mr. Clooney's curt reply: "I'm not going to make any speeches. That's not my style."

I'll tell you why you should be making speeches, Mr. Clooney.

Because the tens of millions who don't have tens of millions are the ones that made you a star, and they're the ones really getting screwed by the self-serving criminal mission of the Bush administration.

The very least you could do is show a little appreciation for the country that made you by speaking out.

It's not about politics. It's about accountability and the very survival of democracy. Do you care, Mr. Clooney?

I don't know . . . I kinda thought it was funny and he was cool thanking "Jack Abramoff" and then making fun of him. . . what do you kidz think?

No disrespect to my brother John Perry here, because I can definitely see your points . . . I guess we all wish we had a higher rooftop from which to scream to expose this madness . . . But sometimes, the "Jerry Rubin" get in your face method isn't that effective on Middle America "Entertainment Awards Show" viewers . . .
(Jerry was always best when he was "preaching to the faithful!!" . . lol)

I guess I saw it differently. I thought he established "likability" and then zinged Jack Abramoff in an attempt to be the classic class clown, "I'll be the first one to challenge the authority figure" while encouraging everyone else to join him in Fool's Protest. ;-)

In my view, we just "Leveled Up" into an entirely new demographic . . . all over middle america the "Entertainment Awards" demographic were asking themselves, "Who the hell is Jack Abramoff???" In other words, a few million people/voters just woke up and knocked on our door . . .

. . . now, if it were me, I'd start out by saying, "Yeah, wasn't Clooney cool as hell the way he zinged ol' Jack Abramoff on National TV and even got bleeped in the process!! Off the Chain!!! . . . Now, what was your question? Who's Jack Abramoff??? Oh, hell, we'll have to go get a beer or three while I tell you THAT story!!! By the way, are you registered to vote? . . because we can stop by the B.O.E. on the way to the bar. . ." lol

I’ll give a little bit of my life for you

peace.

Doesn't Syriana and Good Night & Good Luck speak for themselves? Perhaps your daftness to the message, shows.
