Congressman Maurice Hinchey, D-NY, spoke out against the war in Iraq at a community forum last night. The forum was held at Binghamton’s Christ Episcopal Church and focused on a recently leaked Downing Street memo. Hinchey said the memo, printed in Britain’s The Sunday Times, seemed to reveal that American intelligence was manipulated in order to gain public support for the invasion of Iraq. Hinchey fielded questions about the memo and allegations that the Bush administration was intent on war, disregarding the potential consequences. Hinchey avoided questions about whether Bush should be impeached over the issue, but said there is rapidly growing dissent in Congress over the war.

I have contacted my Catholic church regarding the Downing Street Memos. No more head in the sand excuses, like with the Nazis. All the churches need to be vocal against this sham of a war, they cannot commit any more sins of omission. Heavens' knows they throw lightening bolts when there is a sex scandal... how about immoral war atrocities scandals?... Time to come off the pulpits and down to earth!
I've emailed Senator Harry Reid, who just happens to be my Congressman. I've asked him to push forward and demand a complete and thorough investigation into the Downing Street Memos. If George W. Bush and his administration lied us into this war, then he should be impeached.
Bill Clinton was impeached for lying about getting a blow job. We now have over 1700 dead Americans and tens of thousands who are maimed and injured in this illegal and immoral war. This is not to mention how many innocent Iraqis have been killed and injured. If GWB lied to the American Congress and the American people in order to start this war, then he should not only be impeached, but fully prosecuted for high treason!!!!
