Specter on NSA Spying: 'Remedy is Impeachment'
On ABC's This Week, when asked about the remedy for illegal NSA wiretapping of U.S. citizens, Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA), head of the Senate Judiciary Committee set to hold hearings on the matter, answered: "...Impeachment is the remedy. After impeachment, you could have a criminal prosecution..."

Actually, it appears as though there is some dispute with the quote. Crooks and liars says the above quote is not correct.
Their version is, "Impeachment is a remedy. After impeachment, you could have a criminal prosecution." The above uses a different word -- "A remedy" is not the same as "the remedy".
With respect to the central problem -- unchecked Amerian tyranny, moving at odds with the leaws of the land -- we have more than one option. We could
[a] have a Constitutional Convention;
[b] rewrite the Constitution;
[c] make all RNC party members outlaws; even
[d] create a new government under the existing Constitution;
[e] Congress could even define new rules for a new army -- one that would compel this tyrant to submit to the Constitution with the threat of force.
The laws can be written to tame a tyrant -- Congress has alot of power, it it chooses to use it. The threat of Legislative abuse was the reason the framers divided the Legislature into two houses.
Two houses to divide power
Perhaps it is time to similarly split the executive into two competing houses -- so that we have three branches -- but two executive houses which must openly agree -- as must the Congress.
The framers appear to have gotten it half right. We can always ensure power is separated by separating the power from the powerful.
Americans have many options -- the key is to keep an open mind, and notice the details. The is the the same as A -- B is not the same as truth; P is not the same is veracity; W is not the same as inspiration.
Let the Constitution be a guide -- there are larger possibilites. Simply listen. A single line -- with competing camps over what was or was not said -- there is much work to do to achieve understanding, much less agreement. Stay focused.
1. A former NSA employee says the law was being broken and Specter would CONSIDER allowing him to testify at the hearings? He said he would want to talk to him informally first, "to see what he has to say". Gee, that wouldn't be an effort to avoid any unexpected political bombshells with the whole world watching, would it?
2. He qualified the quote featured above by first saying he was not suggesting there was any basis, and that "in theory" the remedy would be impeachment and the criminal prosecution, but that "the principle remedy under our society is to pay a political price". So much for applying criminal justice against presidents who willingly break the law, I guess.
3. He said he was willing to follow the issue as far as it goes, but added "I don't see any talk about impeachment here...I don't think anybody doubts that the president is making a good faith effort.."
He doesn't see any talk about impeachment? Someone should introduce him to John Conyers.
The president is making a good faith effort? To do what? Nullify the Constitution and institute a dictatorship?
What a disengenuous piece of shit this guy is.
Talk is cheap, Senator. Open your eyes, put aside your politics and do your damn job.

Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't Arlen Specter the same Arlen Specter that invesigated the JFK assasination?
Hmmm..........it doesn't seem he followed THAT issue very far.
