Urgent Alert on Torture

Detainees may lose right to habeas corpus in deal with White House to prevent veto of McCain amendment against torture

Please call: Senators Levin (D-MI), Graham (R-SC), Warner (R-VA), McCain (R-AZ)

Let them know that this is not acceptable.

In Boston today Rep. Marty Meehan hosted a Forum on Torture with Reps. John Conyers (D-MI) and James Moran (D-VA). The discussion brought to light a compromise being negotiated by Lindsey Graham with the White House to prevent a Bush veto of Defense Appropriation if it includes the McCain Amendment on Torture. The compromise seems to deny detainees right to habeas corpus. An attorney representing Guantanamo Bay detainees, Kristine Huskey, “says this would be one step forward and two steps back.

Strategcially, wouldn't it be better to LET Dubya VETO the uncompromised law that reflects the WILL OF THE PEOPLE???

If the bill remains intact - NO TORTURE, full compliance with the US Constitution and the Geneva Conventions, AND has the backing of our elected officials, would BushCo not truly show their hand by vetoing it? Just like Cindy Sheehan's peaceful protest broke us through the noise floor to an entirely new demographic, I think this action would be yet another quantum level leap for support of the Peace Movement. (You ROCK, Cindy!!!)

I don't think even Karl Rove, Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh, Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and Bill O'Reilly singing together in choir robes could spin this before the American People. Americans don't approve of Torture . . bottom line. (As well as civilized people all over the world as BushCo are quickly finding out from Dr. "Mushroom Cloud" Rice's failed "Torture Saves Lives" tour of Europe . . if she was on a record label, she'd be dropped for sure after a failed tour like that . . .lol)

This coupled with Bush's comments that the US Constitution is "just a goddamned piece of paper", would, I think, wake up many Americans to just how deep the doo-doo is concerning the PNAC-AIPAC "Full Spectrum Dominance" shadow agenda.

Bush's statements on the Constitution alone merit Impeachment. Not too long ago, the American People would have stormed the White House in a Bastille Fury and hung him for such a sentiment. Vetoing a basic human rights Anti-Torture law should definitely be enough to justify Impeachment . . . a hell of a lot worse than getting a blow job from a legal-age consenting adult, in my humble opinion.

This American says "No Compromise - NO TORTURE!!!"
IMPEACH THE SON-OF-A-BUSH NOW!!!

"The children asked him if to kill was not a sin
Not when he looked so fierce, his mummy butted in
If looks could kill it would have been us instead of him
All the children sing
Hey, Bungalow Bill
What did you kill
Bungalow Bill?"
- The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill by The Beatles

peace.

These people have to be removed from office, hopefully by procedurally correct methods by our elected representatives, but in any case as soon as possible.

They've bankrupted the country, destroyed our credibility abroad, attempted to propagandize and brainwash the public with lies, and believe they are justified in committing human rights violations, civil rights violations, and every other outrage the people of this country have ever had to suffer.

Yes, it's time. Get 'em outta there before the military has to step in and take over the country just to keep Bushco from flushing it all down the toilet.

That means you, Mr. Citizen! Turn off your tv and go organize your friends and neighbors now. It's time.
