Tonight in DC: David Segal

By Daniel Bass, Political Director, Segal for Congress

I want to let you know about an exciting event in DC for Rhode Island Congressional candidate David Segal the evening of Thursday, June 17th at the Big Hunt at 1345 Connecticut Avenue (Dupont Circle) from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. Segal is a close friend who has been a progressive champion in Rhode Island as a State Representative and Providence City Councilman, and he’s running for the seat being vacated by Congressman Patrick Kennedy.

Segal is only 30, and he has an amazing record of achieving victories for working families and progressive causes. By working closely with progressive community organizations and activists, he has worked to crack down on big banks and predatory lenders; helped families facing closures; restored critical funding to Rhode Island’s schools, municipal services, and elderly care; paved the way for green jobs and saved Rhode Island's renewable energy fund; pushed election and ethics reforms.

David has also been a leader in the fight for marriage equality in Rhode Island and the protection of civil rights, and he’s not just talk--he’s walked the walk by marching in dozens of picket lines with workers organizing for their rights.

His campaign is building tremendous momentum because he’s someone who will stand up to big money and powerful interests. The event at the Big Hunt on June 17th is an awesome opportunity to meet David and see why progressives are so excited about him. It’s a $100 suggested donation, but only $25 for students and young professionals. There will be also guest speakers talking about the netroots and growing progressive power.

Hope you can make it!
