John Yoo, A Wanted Man

The right wing Federalist Society of Orange County hosted a "Libertarian/Conservative Throwdown!" today between John Yoo (The Conservative) and Bob Barr (The Libertarian) with the subject being "The History of Executive War Power".

I registered for this luncheon event because I was interested in what Barr had to say, and also, to ask John Yoo if he still thought executive powers allowed presidents to nuke the USA as he had stated a few days earlier in Charlottesville, VA.

I was sitting close to the lectern while Mr. Yoo checked his palm pilot and greeted people, when one of the event organizers saw my John Yoo Wanted poster and asked me if I was there to be a disruption. I let her know that since I forgot my handcuffs there would be no citizen arrest made on John Yoo at that time. She asked me to leave.

Before I did, I handed Mr. Yoo his own "Wanted" sign, and let him know that indeed, he was a wanted man. He had nothing to say, but looked meek, almost persecuted, I almost felt sorry for him. Perhaps it's his ability to make it seem as if the right thing is being done all the while subverting everything that is good that makes me associate his name with things slimy. How can you have a smackdown with a Snake?

On the way out, I also shook Mr. Barr's hand and told him I was being escorted out and could he read our flyer. He was very pleasant and took it. I'll have to write him and see what he thinks of the Accountability Movement. One never knows where one's allies are. I left the building to join the small protest on the sidewalk where we continued to tell the world:

John Yoo is a war criminal, responsible for an illegal Iraqi war which killed one million people, 500,000 of them children, and left 4.5-5 million children orphans, 500,000 of whom are homeless.

Since Orange County is a Right Wing Christian stronghold, I used Christian-themed chants like "America Bless God, Stop Torture and Prosecute War Criminal John Yoo". Some people stopped and we were able to hand out 50 flyers and most of our Wanted Posters. More people are finding out the truth about John Yoo. I wish Eric Holder would pay attention!
