Bush Protested Wherever He Goes
By Sharon Tipton
Thirty protesters gathered on February 4th, in Dana Point, Calif., where George Bush received the prestigious Cardinal John J. O’Connor Pro-Life Award from Legatus a Catholic business and civics leaders group, at its annual Summit. 9/11 Truthers from Los Angeles joined us, as well as members of ANSWER-LA who drove three hours in traffic to attend, and Dee Dee Miller, a Southern California activist, and Cindy Sheehan’s sister. We all came together for the same reason – to express outrage over the awarding a pro-life award to a war criminal! Aggressive, pre-emptive war is not "pro life." George Bush deserves conviction for the war crimes of launching a war based on lies, causing the death of over a million people, including thousands of US deaths, sanctioning torture, violating the U.S. Constitution and international law, and smashing any hopes for world peace for the foreseeable future.
An earlier press conference was lightly attended but eventful and we made our presence known. The police created a “free speech” zone for us just outside the main entrance of St. Regis Resorts, where the summit was being held. And I was given an aged US Flag by a passing driver, which quickly got integrated into the protest!
A larger protest was held in the evening in front of the St. Regis. As many buses and limousines passed us while entering the Resort, we were able to remind these “leaders”, that they were honoring a war criminal that had tortured, lied, and broken the law.
We had great signs: “Millions Dead, Yet You Break Bread” , “America Bless God, Stop Torture” and “Restore the Constitution, Indict Bush” . Some wore orange, and one person had on an orange jumpsuit and black hood. I hope St. Regis Resorts remembers us the next time they host a war criminal!
The protest was endorsed by ANSWER-LA, AfterDowningStreet.org, CodePink-OC, World Can't Wait- LA, Progressive Democrats of America - OC, School of the Americas Watch - LA, and others.

Stay warm this winter in a black hooded sweatshirt. Order one. Order them by the dozen and donate them to occupations!

It is hard to think of a more inappropriate person to give a pro-life award to -- Dick Cheney comes to mind. Giving a pro-life award to a mass murderer discredits any organization or religion.
