YOUTH ANTIWAR APPEAL: Young people in the United States refuse to die and kill for oil and empire | The Organizer

APPEAL

The majority of youth voted for Obama because they want an end to wars, but now the Obama administration is escalating the war against the people of Afghanistan, by proposing to send an additional 34,000 troops. This is unacceptable! We refuse to let this barbarism take place in our name!

The escalation in Afghanistan is part of the "endless war" against the peoples of the world. The U.S. government has maintained over 100,000 troops in Iraq; expanded the war to Pakistan; and funded the brutal Israeli offensive against Palestinian people. Likewise, Obama has maintained the over 730 U.S. military bases throughout the world and is currently pushing to establish seven new bases in Colombia.

Wars and occupations deny young people a future throughout the world, from the occupations in Haiti to the so-called "ethnic conflicts" promoted by imperialism in Africa.

Do these policies benefit the majority of youth and workers in the United States? No! These wars only enrich a small minority of profiteers.

We do not want to die or kill for U.S. corporations. We want good jobs, quality education, and art! We want a future!

We call on the youth and youth organizations of the world to join with us in an international youth campaign against war and propose that we organize anti-war activities on December 5, 2009 and protest together on March 20, 2010 (the 7th anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq) against the occupations of Afghanistan, Iraq, Palestine, Haiti and the presence of U.S. military bases throughout the world.

U.S. and NATO Troops Out Now!
