Thanksgiving is a time for families to gather to give thanks and celebrate the
years achievements. In this spirit, the family of Camp Casey and the Crawford
Peace Movement will reunite in Crawford, Texas this Thanksgiving to celebrate
our work, remember those who are no longer with us, and share our stories, our
lives, and the wealth of our community.

The past year has seen many tragic milestones in the war on Iraq. Despite the
Presidents assertion that major combat ended last year, military operations
have continued, and resulted in the destruction of the city of Falluja, 2,065
American deaths, 200,000 Iraqi deaths, 199 coalition deaths, and 15,353 American
soldiers wounded. But this year has also been a year of victories for our
movement ( figures as of 11/04/05).

This past August, our community united in Crawford with Cindy Sheehan to demand
that the President explain the “noble cause for which he claims our troops
have died. Then, on September 24, we massed over 200,000 people in Washington
D.C. to send a clear message to the world that we do not consent to wars of
conquest in our name and demand that the troops be brought home NOW!

Since Hurricane Katrina ravaged Louisiana, claiming over 1,000 American lives,
the Crawford coalition has been providing material assistance to the people of
New Orleans while the government struggles under the weight of its own

After we left Crawford at the end of August, McLennan County designated the
county bar ditches “no speech zones by making it illegal to camp, eat or
erect a structure for living in them . Additionally, they created a no
parking zone for a 7 mile radius around the Bush ranch. This is a violation
of our constitutional rights to free speech and free assembly. On Tuesday,
November 22, some of us will challenge this ordinance by gathering in the Camp
Casey 1 ditch to let George Bush know that he cannot continue to turn a deaf ear
to our grievances.

In solidarity with people who continue to suffer as a result of the
Presidents failed war in Iraq, we will forgo the standard excessive American
Thanksgiving feast for a simple Iraqi meal. We will organize food and monetary
donations for a convoy coming through Crawford to take to New Orleans to those
who continue to struggle to rebuild their lives.

Friday, we will dedicate the new Memorial Garden at the Crawford
Peace House. This will include the carved stone that was started this summer.

Saturday, we will engage in a demonstration (march/rally/caravan, details to be
announced. We will disband on Sunday to return to our local communities to
continue our campaign to end the war and bring our troops home.

We are requesting each organization to collect donations of non perishable food
or funds from their membership and supporters, as well as post information about
this event on their websites. We must keep the war at the forefront of public
consciousness this holiday season. One more death is too many; tomorrow is too
late. Let us come together in community to renew our commitment to end the
suffering NOW!

The Crawford Peace House will secure access to Tonkawa Falls State Park for
camping, if needed. Shuttles will also be needed.

Contact the Crawford Peace House at 254-486-0099 for more information. Check
the Crawford Peace House Website for updated information about the event.

Please RSVP to the Crawford Peace House to let them know if you plan to attend
the Thanksgiving event, so that we can prepare for the correct number of people.
When you call, please let the Peace House know if you are willing to volunteer.
We will need the same kinds of volunteers that we did during the summer
encampment and we know that you will all rise to this effort. Thanks so much.
We look forward to seeing you again.

In Peace,

Count me and my family in! We'll be there Saturday to show our support for Cindy and her noble cause for our third time.

The New Roman Colosseum - American Style:

"They took us to a cage -- an animal cage that had lions in it within the Republican Palace," he said. "And they threatened us that if we did not confess, they would put us inside the cage with the lions in it. It scared me a lot when they got me close to the cage, and they threatened me. And they opened the door and they threatened that if I did not confess, that they were going to throw me inside the cage. And as the lion was coming closer, they would pull me back out and shut the door, and tell me, 'We will give you one more chance to confess.' And I would say, 'Confess to what?'" (Source)

Sorry, folks, but I cannot and do not "support the troops" who do these things. In fact, between indefinite detentions of people acknowledged to be innocent by the captors themselves, torturing prisoners and melting the skin off kids, I've had it with the United States of America. I'm fed up with people who permit this stuff to go on long after any sane nation would be rioting en masse in the streets to end it!

You can have your endless "Tweedledum and Tweedledee" political debates and your weak-kneed compromises on legal principles that are older than the U.S. constitution. I have come around to agreeing with the people who have said here and elsewhere that, as a nation, America cares nothing for anyone but itself. So I am now resolved that I will never again shed a single tear for you. Whatever happens, it's fully deserved.

I'm outta here. I'm going to do my best to persuade Canada that it had better start building some nuclear weapons for its own defense against a totally insane "neighbor" to the south. Enjoy your Thanksgiving.

I've got a better idea: you stay and we'll extradite Pat Robertson to Venezuela.

But seriously, the issue of support or non-support of troops is really quite moot.

We would'nt have to dwell on it if they were simply ordered, as is long overdue, to withdraw:

But the objective truth cares not for popularity;the facts are the misdeeds in Iraq by the U.S. military are not isolated incidences:

The only real solution is to remove the U.S. military from where they don't belong. The purpose of the U.S. military is to defend U.S. territory.

Iraq is not U.S. territory, Germany is not U.S. territory. Want to end the Korean conflict today? Pull U.S. troops out of Korea; it's that simple.

Who knows how much of U.S. military individual miscreance is founded on a vague, implicit awareness that their presence in foreign territory is fundamentally wrong, however much they, as individuals, may successfully rationalize it to themselves on a conscious level? A condition no doubt, exacerbated by the "leadership" of our "moral" president.

It would be a shame if a peaceful country, Canada, which maintains an appropriately minimalist strategy with regards to it's military were forced to acquire nuclear( or"nuquuler", as the chimp would say)weapons for fear of U.S. agression.

But who could blame them? Not that I feel so safe IN the United States, but if I had to live outside of it, I'd have trouble sleeping unless I had my own nuclear missle pointed at the White House.

Come to think of it, I'm not so sure I'd feel safe living outside a state where the President's brother is the Governor!!

Dear Arvy, I feel your painful disgust. For more than ten years we have been diligently scripting letters and calling upon leaders, faith-based and non-faith based alike. Through their demonstration of response, it has come to be apparent, organizations are fraudulent, and the minority to the majority of collective people, are unwilling to assist in reducing the measure of madness. As citizens of the United States, my son and I have been subjected to torture, and have been ostracized from conventional living, for more than twenty-two years. We empathize with those who implore for assistance, and for a cease fire on the innocent. It is true to say, the gross malfeasance toward humanity is the evidence and conclusion of the fact: “Ignorance has become America’s Weapon of Mass Destruction.

Anniversary of the Invasion of Iraq.

Is there any arm of this organization that can help put together a weekend of events in Portland, Oregon with West Coast wide participation and national media attention?

Dennis Kucinich said he would speak.

Tom Paxton said he was available to sing.

The City of Portland may be one of the sponsors. Get in touch.
