LONDON — British Prime Minister Tony Blair indicated Monday that British troops could be withdrawn from Iraq next year. It is "entirely reasonable to talk about the possibility of withdrawal of troops next year," Blair told journalists.

He made the comments followed a meeting with Iraqi Vice President Adil Abdul Mahdi in Downing Street where he pledged that Britain would not leave a "security vacuum" in Iraq.
