Feet to the Fire: New York Event

COME LISTEN AND TALK TO A RARE PANEL OF FOUR OF U.S. MEDIA'S MOST BRILLIANT AND FORTHRIGHT REPORTERS AND NEWS EXECUTIVES DISCUSSING PRE-WAR AND WAR REPORTING

Distinguished journalists Paul Krugman, John MacArthur, Chris Hedges and Tom Yellin will be on a panel at the Union Square Barnes and Noble (33 East 17th Street) at 7:00pm on November 11, 2005 to discuss their interviews in Kristina Borjesson's new book, FEET TO THE FIRE: The Media After 9/11, Top Journalists Speak Out. Books signed by all of them will be available.

FEET TO THE FIRE contains a series of 21 interviews with leading reporters specializing in areas most germane to pre-war and war reporting. There are five sections in the book:

"Executive Impressions" with AP President/CEO Tom Curley, ABC Executive Producer Tom Yellin, Harpers publisher John MacArthur and Ted Koppel.

"Arena of Power (those who cover the White House and their occupants as well as analyse the effects of their policies)" with Helen Thomas, Ron Suskind and Paul Krugman

"National Security and Intelligence," with John Walcott, Jonathan Landay and Warren Strobel of Knight Ridder (recognized by practically everyone else in the book as having done the best pre-war reporting); Barton Gellman and Walter Pincus of the Washington Post, James Bamford and David Martin of CBS.

"History and Context (of Iraq war)" with Anthony Shadid and Blogger Juan Cole

"War Correspondents" with Peter Arnett, Christopher Hedges, Jon Alpert, Deborah Amos, and Knight Ridder's Hannah Allam and Tom Lasseter.

Far more than a book on media criticism, FEET TO THE FIRE provides a real insider's view of the arena where the nation's power elite meets its media elite and reveals the serious challenges that those who cover this nation's arena of power face and what that implies for American democracy and the rest of the world.
