Protesters rally on South Oval

Students and Normanites protested the treatment of detainees in Iraq.
By Meredith Simons

Three men knelt on the street in front of Dale Hale. Their bodies were shrouded in sand-colored jumpsuits and burlap sacks covered their heads. The chains around their necks were clipped to black leashes that they held in their hands and offered to passersby.

“Take the leash!

I am pleased to see that the students at OU are protesting this UnGodly War. If some of the on lookers are discomforted by this visual presentation they need to wake up! The media has done everything it can to hide these images from the public and whitewash the lies that led to this tragedy. The Bush administration has successfully launched a public relations blitz against anyone who speaks out but the numbers of us who oppose this quagmire are growing... Our coalition group protests weekly in OKC, Tuesdays @ 5:00PM at NW 32 and Classen Blvd. Thus far we have received a lot of support from the passers by, a few middle fingers but for the most part solidarity. Many have pulled over to join us in our efforts. The tide is turning and we need many more people like these students who are willing to stand up and bring public awareness to the horrors that are going on in Iraq and illegal detention facilities world wide. Keep up the good work guys !
