Kucinich to Israel: Please State Your Goals
Washington D.C. (January 12, 2009) -- Following Sunday’s announcement by the Prime Minister of Israel, Ehud Olmert, that Israel was “getting close to achieving the goals it set for itself” in its military operation in Gaza, Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) made the following statement:
“Recent reports indicate that the humanitarian crisis in Gaza is continues unabated. As the fighting moves into the densely populated, urban areas of Gaza, the potential for massive tragedy grows. Last week, the United Nations suspended humanitarian efforts after a UN school was destroyed by tank fire and UN aid workers were killed conducting emergency relief efforts. Additionally, the International Committee of the Red Cross reports that they are having difficulty reaching those in with the most desperate need. The world’s ability to mitigate disaster is steadily being withdrawn.
“In light of the ongoing humanitarian crisis, I call upon Prime Minister Olmert to clarify his nation’s goals for its military operation in Gaza. On Sunday, Mr. Olmert stated that Israel was “getting close to the goals it set for itself.” If Israel has set goals, I ask that Mr. Olmert share them with the world and use those goals as the basis for a meaningful dialogue.
“My goal is to help find a way that Israelis and Palestinians can live in peace without fear of terror, attack or poverty. That’s why I am currently working with leaders in Congress to develop a resolution that recognizes the humanitarian suffering in Gaza and calls for an immediate ceasefire.”

As one of the impeachment advocates who contributed to Kucinich's re-election campaign I am dismayed to note that he apparently abandoned impeachment the day after he was re-elected. Was he just trolling for donations from impeachment advocates?
And good old John Conyers broke his promise to start impeachment hearings after the election.
And Rep. Wexler, immediately after the election, quit impeachment.
After the election, having won all the marbles, there was no reason whatsoever to not at least start impeachment hearings.
Was this a scam they were all in on?

Kucinich the Bravest Congressmen today and you are trying to discredit him!
Get out of here!
You can blame the Dems liders for failing to impeach but not Dennis.
He have never quit trying!
Thanks. You beat me to it. Putting everything on this one courageous man's shoulders and then ragging him because the lead walls wouldn't crumble is bullshit.
REAL "CHANGE"? http://www.dsausa.org/about/index.html
I didn't say Kucinich tried to impeach. He did, valiantly.
But after he was re-elected he quit.. and ignored his supporters
who wanted him to file another impeachment article after the election.
Think he owes us ( and the Constitution)

You're not alone John. Looks like party loyalty rears its evil head all around. Actions, such as you point out, clearly speak louder than words.
Though Conyers and Kucinich are portrayed as "leaders," they're both career politicians beholden to their party masters. Dennis's hopping up and down extends as far as Nancy's leash allows.
To put it in terms more apropos to current events, if the American people were Palestinians under the Zionist "iron boot" of Pelosi and Hoyer, Dennis would be our Fatah.
My confession of hope, is someday we will find our Hamas.
He speaks 10-15 minutes with Amy Goodman
This LITTLE BIG MAN recently lost a Syster and a Brother and he still fights like a LION.

On the GAZA Issue
After the first half of the program
He sure is.
You should read his history. The Cleveland Plain Dealer tried to destroy him long before this era of media bias. Dennis Kucinich is the best. He has worked long, hard, and tirelessly. I sure wished he were my representative. I hope he becomes my senator with Voinovich retiring.
Little Big Man I like that jlennon. Thanks

Yeah, Conyers and Wexler were full of shit. I wrote about it on my blog, and got into it here with people time and time again when Wexler's bullshit "petition" first came out. I pointed out that to sign the petition, you had to sign up on his campaign website and that he didn't even support Kucinich's first impeachment effort. I even got into it with Wexler's campaign manager who left a message on my website less than 10 minutes after I put that post up.
Conyers, well... Conyers is obvious...
Kucinich is a decent man who took a courageous stand that others tried to hijack for their own personal reasons. He is one of the last real public servants we have left. Swanson should be proud to have worked with him. Anyone should.
He not only worked for impeachment, but also for peace. He worked and is working for single payer health care and all of these things, all of them, he forced as much as he could into the political debate during the primaries. Even after they gave him a little warning with that stupid UFO crap. That was a warning to him to chill out, or they would embarrass him. But he kept on.
He did these things because he believes in them, and if you can't hear the difference between a Wexler and Kucinich in their voices... well...
No one on this site could say that I am blinded by party loyalty. Just look up the Petition to Replace Pelosi as Speaker of the House. Just look at my website and the "Fuck Obama" category. I'm a life-long democrat, or I was till the Clinton's "New Democrat Revolution" took over.
Kucinich stopped bringing the articles of impeachment to the floor of the House after the election because he finally knew that this group would never do it. after the Conyers "hearing" and so many good people spoke out, and still nothing happened, I guess he finally knew that they would never allow it to happen.
I understand people are disappointed, but we can't start tossing around accusations at people like kucinich. Wexler, Conyers, Pelosi, Reid, Hoyer... all true; all bought and paid for. But Dennis is still out there for us. and he needs us to be there for him, less we end up with nothing.
You dissed Dennis Kucinich??? Better put on your flame jacket next time ! ;-)
Seriously though, isn't blaming Kucinich, Conyers and Wexler the old "blame the messenger"
routine?
How are they going to get their messages out if they do not campaign, and remember, they are only voted by their LOCAL DISTRICTS, so they have to cater to their constituents needs first. Obviously, their constituents voted them back in, so they must've liked what they heard.
Impeachment would have had a better chance with an majority Democrat House and Senate back in 2000 & 2004. The numbers were always against us, and by the time 2006 rolled around, lets face it,
Nancy Pelosi castrated Conyers , Kucinich and Wexler. Yet these three men tried and tried against all odds. What we seem to forget is that Conyers , Kucinich and Wexler were in the frying pan, the rest of us were on the outside looking in. These three men did what noone else in Congress did...THEY TRIED. I am of the philosophy that this kind of effort should be encouraged in politicians. A little sugar catches more flies than vinegar, or something like that.
ARREST BUSHCO & RICO PNAC/FARA AIPAC...PNAC is Bush/Cheney's "Helter Skelter" !
UNITE IN SOLIDARITY !!!
and did not need to run an impeachment program to garner votes. As a matter of fact he got a serious challenge from a candidate backed by the Cleveland Plain Dealer who ran on the platform that Kucinich was not spending enough time on his district.
Mr. Kucinich is currently speaking out against the war on Gaza. There is no imminent election and speaking out against the Jewish hardliners is a dangerous political gamble. The Jews control the budget and the airwaves.
Like it or not, if you are a Jew you are complicit along with the Christians and Catholics.
