She was run over by a bulldozer made by Catapillar. And there were no camera around. This woman is couragous... but I ask you, would they hesitate to shoot if that camera (the one they keep looking at) were not there?

I wrote about her and included her story in this article...

http://willyloman.wordpress.com/2008/12/30/a-few-things-the-msm-isnt-tel...

She stood up to an IDF CAT D9R armored bulldozer and she lost. There were no cameras, no videos. Just her, a long way from home, and a few friends, and the Palestinian family she was trying to help.

She died that day when that machine ran over her. Just ran her over.

She never moved she never ran. That's courage. Getting out in front of a tv camera and daring someone to shoot in front of it, though admirable, isn't the same kind of courage.

but i didn't see it

apparently she kept a journal and was a good writer. The play is about her writing I think.

But that's another SHOCKING story.

They are different persons. I googled Rachel and look what i found:

Rachel was a white, blond-red haired lady.

This young lady on the video seem to be Middle eastern.

Both are very brave. It should be insteresting to find out what happenned to this one.

By the way you did a good job with Marzi the ZIONIST APOLOGIST. Long time no see.

... and it is good to "see" you as well.

Should die before a single MSM Channel plays something like this.

They all talk about SUICIDE BOMBERS and Hamas Rockets.

To justify the "WAR ON TERROR" , AKA IMPERIAL WARS!

I hope this young Palestinian woman is ok!

Great vids, I had not seen these, especially the one with the IDF audio transmissions of the bulldozer that killed Rachel.
Did US govt ever stop Caterpillar from selling these bulldozers to Israel? Silly question, I know, but just asking...

ARREST BUSHCO & RICO PNAC/FARA AIPAC...PNAC is Bush/Cheney's "Helter Skelter" !

UNITE IN SOLIDARITY !!!

This lone, brave, young, attractive Palestinian woman, unflinching, unarmed, and determined to end the bloodshed, calmly steps in front of the Israeli soldier's rifle and signals to him that she will willingly take a bullet herself before he lets go on someone else. To his everlasting credit, God bless him, this young Israeli soldier holds his fire and declines to kill this peaceful unarmed civilian before him. If only our Congress had just an ounce of this woman's courage to put an end to our aggressive wars for empire our nation could then begin to recover from Bushco's war crimes.

...and I think she is American. Or at least back from school here, based on her dialect, and the fact that she is speaking English to the Israelis.

And I also hate to interject a little logic into this, but if all those Israeli soldiers were firing 7 mm rounds at kids, there would be a pile of bodies... and the camera might focus a little on that, don't you think?

typically in these protest situations, they equip soldiers with those hard rubber bullets, which can still kill, but not like a full metal jacket round.

The fact that you can see so many troops firing, and that there were no casualties shown, makes me wonder if that isn't what they are using.

Now at that close of a range, a head shot would have killed this girl, don't get me wrong, she is very courageous for what she is doing, but, I just wonder if those aren't rubber rounds they're firing.

bad shots? Possibly. Reluctant to kill for their masters? Hopefully.

She's the wife of Adam Shapiro and a co-fonder of the International Solidarity Movement, of which Rachel Corrie was a Member.

She was also born in 1976. That would make her 32 or 33, so "girl" is a bit sexist and demeaning.

I first came across Rachel Corrie's name in Susan Sontag's speech presented in 2003. In this nicely written speech, she also commended Israeli soldiers who refused to take orders:

"Our greatest admiration must go to the brave Israeli soldiers, represented by Ishai Menuchin, chairman of Yesh Gvul, who refuse to serve beyond the 1967 borders. These soldiers know that all settlements are bound to be evacuated in the end.

These soldiers, who are Jews, take seriously the principle put forward at the Nuremberg trials in 1945-46: namely, that a soldier is not obliged to obey unjust orders, orders that contravene the laws of war - indeed, one has an obligation to disobey them."

The speech can be found at:

I suspect a lot of this young lady's courage and the restraint of the Israeli soldiers was due to the fact that the scene was being video taped.

In this day and age our best defense from an opressive government may not be guns and the second amendment but a video camera.

Perhaps all the women should make a human chain and their holy leaders can join in.
This woman is fabulous.

That's Huwaida Arraf, a co-founder and central figure in the International Solidarity Movement and, recently, the Free Gaza Movement (the folks organizing the boat trips from Cyprus to Gaza). Here's her Wikipedia bio:

Huwaida Arraf (born 1976 in Detroit, Michigan) is a co-founder of the International Solidarity Movement (ISM), a pro-Palestinian organization. The stated mission of the ISM is to resist the Israeli occupation using nonviolent tactics. Arraf is married to Adam Shapiro, another ISM co-founder, whom she met while both were working at the Jerusalem center of "Seeds of Peace", an organization that seeks to foster dialogue between Jewish and Palestinian youth.

Arraf, who is Christian, is the daughter of a Israeli Arab father and a Palestinian mother. Arraf majored in Arabic and Judaic studies and political science at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She also spent a year at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and studied Hebrew on a kibbutz.[1].

Huwaida later earned a JD at American University's Washington College of Law. Her focus was on International Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, with a particular interest in war crimes prosecution.

"Heroic Women blocks Israeli Rifles Aimed at Palestinian demonstrators
Release Date: 1/11/2009

An earlier edition of this post incorrectly stated that the event happened in Gaza, implying that it just occurred. In fact the event took place in the West Bank at least a year ago. We apologize for the error.

A Korean camera crew in the Occupied Territories of Palestine documented one of the most heroic actions we have ever seen. The courageous action of Huwaida Arraf is in the spirit of her colleague from the International Solidarity Movement, Rachel Corrie, who gave her life to defend a Palestinian home. This video seems to have been recorded in the West Bank near Bil'in. Huwaida was on two of the boats that sailed to Gaza in the last few months with food and medicine--the second was rammed by the IOF and had to dock in Lebanon.

Deep Dish TV is also distributing a 6 part series on the reality of life for Palestinians in the Occupied Territories, living inside Israel and in exile. Chronicles of a Refugee. Produced by Adam Shapiro, Perla Issa and Aseel Mansour.

Thanks to Mitchell Cohen for calling this video to our attention"
