Iraqi TV Reports here and here Al-Zaydi Being Tortured in U.S. Prison. Here's BBC and Times of London. Here's all you'd know if you relied on the AP. NY Times reports on beating and says he'll be in court on Wednesday.

Listen for discussion of this on Tuesday's Urban Journal.

I think we should get a cardboard tourist Bush and give prizes for whoever can knock him over with a shoe from 30 feet, or - if necessary - a brave volunteer to wear a Bush mask and get pelted with shoes. Bring what props you can!

I wish I could be there! I still have my little girl's shoes from when we lobbied congress. I will never forget Cong Bilbray saying he didn't care about those people but did care aobut his twin baby grandaughters whose photos were on his desktop. I would walk barefoot through the snow for the chance to hurl a shoe.

The Celebrity Shoe Thrower

Journalist Muntadar al-Zeidi, 29

Journalist Muntadar al-Zeidi, 29, has been working as a correspondent for Iraq's Al-Baghdadiya TV since it launched in 2005. Co-workers describe him as a rather quiet and composed.

He was kidnapped by an unknown armed group while on his way to work on Nov. 16, 2007. His captors released him three days later without claiming any ransoms.

He is known for opposing the U.S. presence in Iraq — a stance often openly expressed in his reports.

My America Doesn't Torture!

Family: Shoe thrower hates both US, Iran role

The Iraqi TV reporter who hurled his shoes at George W. Bush was kidnapped once by militants and, separately, detained briefly by the U.S. military — a story of getting hit from all sides that is bitterly familiar to many Iraqis.

Over time, Muntadhar al-Zeidi, a 28-year-old unmarried Shiite, came to hate both the U.S. military occupation and Iran's interference in Iraq, his family told The Associated Press on Monday.

My America Doesn't Torture!

Muntadar, thank you . . . best thing I've seen on TV in years.

Thank you thank you thank you . . . sending shoes to Washington tomorro.

Thankyou, Lucky Man. Imagine if He threw his shoes at Pukin of Russia, or the the King of Saud ( beheaded, stoned, circumcised) or Hugo Chavez or Raul Castro. Yes He is lucky that Bush has a sense of humour. Ignorant young Man , ignoring the consequences.
Throw your shoes at The Communist Chinese leader and his organs would be on the market next week. He probably though He could get away with this and further his public media income. The Iraqi public thinks he is a hero? He should have played baseball.
Sadam Hussein! Imagine if he threw his shoes at Sadam, certainly would not be having use for any shoes anymore.
Yes a 29 year old, stuck on stupid, unnecessary act of insanity, poor fool, who doesn't even know He is a FOOL.

shoes size 14D, hard to find shoes!

If you have the time, call your local thrift store and ask if they have any shoes that aren't suitable for sale hanging around. Mine gave me a couple hundred pairs that hadn't been picked up by another local aid agency.

You can make up labels of actual Iraqi dead to add to your shoes by checking out the list at codepink, at The little blue ones are my daughter's shoes. No wonder she laughed.

As invitation mentioned, there will be shoes there, but if you can take some also that would be great, and the labeling is clearly just an idea if you have the time.

Looking forward to meeting some of you. Will be great to see all who can make it.

That's a good one. Well, unless you happen to throw them at the unelected potus. Then you are taken away, and most likely, tortured.

Maybe with all those shoes he'll finally get the message just how deeply he is reviled.

Arab sign of contempt is to show ones soles to the soul-less. For the rest of W's reckless life, should any of we Americans be unlucky to cross his path, please be so kind as to lift your foot in sole-ute, and get it on Youtube!

ARREST BUSHCO & RICO PNAC/FARA AIPAC...PNAC is Bush/Cheney's "Helter Skelter" !

Here's the diary link.

Here's an alternative: You CAN send faxes of shoes, photocopies of shoes, magazine images of keep those army boots, flip flops, baby shoes, Nikes and Manolos coming!

It appears there is significant harm according to this story, broken arms and ribs

There DEFINETLY has to be some action for this man ... Other then sending shoes to George Bush ... They're probably skinning that dude alive right now ... He'll never be able to use that arm again for sure ... Bush probably has it live on closed caption television pumped directly into his office ... or where ever he hangs out ... the bum ....

It's a good thing that brave young man doesn't have any kids ....

Also know Reuters, PressTV, Examiner and many others took quotes and lots of pictures. Let us see how many articles actually get to print, or net.

how hypocritical! for people who espouse world peace, celebrating an act of violence is a far cry from practicing what you preach.

You people are clueless.

Let me ask at what point did suppoting violence seem like the right way to voice your frustration and contempt of a War?

The support you are so eager to throw at this act of violence will in turn promote further violence which will in turn promote more deadly violence.

I'm sure you'll stand up and claim your responsibility in the death of a U.S. soldier with the next wave of violence to hit them over there.
No you'll blame it on Bush.
