Scott describes in this meeting that those who are guilty of ordering and carrying out torture have retro active immunity. however congress is still functional and he is constantly on the short end of the stick when it comes to votes in congress so are the human beings in guantonamo however they are getting beaten with the stick. Despite the fact that the crimes of torture and illegal wars go on he is still hesitant to do anything to hold the guilty parties bush and cheney accountable. He states that intelligance was not falsified or manipulated before the invasion of Iraq amongst many other areas of confusion. chris dorsey
Thanks to Chris for getting meeting, to John for some fine camera work (though you didn't lose my double chin) and Mary for all the driving and snacks.
Watching these videos does help me understand better what we are up against.
Excellent questioning. To bad the answers weren't convincing. What do we need to do to convince people like Congressman Scott that impeachment IS the answer?
Would be interested in others' take on this meeting. Congress may not be dysfunctional; they may be functioning just fine. The Constitution doesn't matter anymore.
Rep Scott says on the first video that the intelligence leading up to the invasion of Iraq wasn't "*That* falsified." So I guess some falsification of intelligence that leads to a million deaths is okay?
I'm surprised more people aren't watching and commenting on these videos. How often do you get to see video of a House Judiciary member responding to tough questioning on impeachment from his constituents? This group certainly did not spend 15 minutes of their time talking about the congressman's love of jazz.
Good work Chris, Mary G-C, John and Rain!
