, boy, Lou Dobbs goes out on a limb on this one.

I'm going to CNN's site. This is idiocy of the highest kind. We were fighting to make certain that loans WERE made available to our members, yes...because there was a practice to not lend in 'certain' neighborhoods and to 'certain' people. He fails to note that we also lobbied extensively over and over through the past few years AGAINST predatory lending practices. We wanted fixed-rate loans at 1 or 2 points above prime - THAT would be fair lending. For years, we have been trying to get the Federal Reserve and the Mortage Banker's Association to work with this while we watched our neighborhoods decimated by the effects of crooked mortgage brokers' and appraisers' greed. This has been a crisis in OUR neighborhoods long before it hit the suburbs, banks, and stockholders and we have been sounding the warning bell for years to deaf ears.
And to think that this kind of nonsense is being aired on mainstream television .. not just the neocon's blog rantings ..
Fair and even-handed journalism? I think not.
