An apparent shift

Apparently Obama said that he would filibuster telecom immunity. In fact, he voted for it. Is that inconsistent or am I missing something? Of course, the New York Times will be happy to do our thinking for us and tell us what we should think, know and do. If we don't like it, we are treated as fools and buffoons. Go figure.
