Veterans' Group Seeks to Deliver 10,000 Impeachment Signatures To House Judiciary Committee Chair, Rep. John Conyers
WASHINGTON, DC - May 16 - A national veterans' organization today sent a letter to Representative John Conyers, head of the House Judiciary Committee, requesting a meeting with him to deliver over 10,000 signatures on a petition to impeach George W. Bush. Impeachment hearings would have to be convened by the Michigan Democrat.
The president of Veterans For Peace, Elliott Adams, wrote Conyers requesting a meeting in early June to deliver their petitions. In it, he pointed out that by invading and occupying Iraq, the Bush administration has violated the U.S. Constitution, domestic laws and international treaties.
Adams' letter said, "Having taken an oath to defend the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic, our members take…the obligation to impeach George W. Bush most seriously...we must hold this administration accountable for waging a war of aggression against Iraq."
The former paratrooper and Viet Nam combat vet reminded the 21-term Representative from Detroit that, "You have taken the same oath, Congressman Conyers, and we expect you will hold it just as sacred as we do and begin impeachment hearings at the soonest possible moment."
Adams concluded his request by writing, "Congressman Conyers, you have stood on the side of justice in battles too numerous to mention during your long career in the House. Will you one day go into retirement with a shadow over your entire record because you did not do everything possible to hold this criminal administration accountable? We genuinely hope not."

As the end of the 110th Democratic Congress quickly draws to an end "Should Have..." Conyers continues to let the clock run out without scheduling even one impeachment hearing to consider all the potential charges and evidence of crimes against the Constitution and probable high crimes and misdemeanors of the last seven plus years.
Over 330,000 signed Rep Robert Wexler's online petition for immediate impeachment hearings, over 25 congress members have co-signed Rep Dennis Kucinich's H.Res. 333/799, a "Privileged Resolution", over 1,000,000 signed Ramsey Clark's online referendum calling for impeachment, over 90 cities and towns across America have approved Resolutions urging hearings, and Army Sergeant Matthis Chiroux stood up in Congress on Thursday, May 15, 2008, and announced that "this occupation is unconstitutional and illegal and I hereby lawfully refuse to participate as I will surely be a party to war crimes. I refuse to participate in the occupation of Iraq".
"Should Have..." Conyers has turned a deaf ear to all and is still waiting to be convinced. Perhaps he now has enough documentation to present to his new democratic president Barack Obama after the swearing in ceremony. By then it will be time to move on, pardons will be granted to heal the nation, and "Should Have..." Conyers waiting to be convinced of what, Alien Chicken Spankers? We need to challenge the mental competence of this man.
We have been signing petitions, sending letters and emails and protesting for the past seven years. Lets get one thing striaght, Pelosi and Conyers do not give a roaring shit what we think or care about. Their only interest is in preserving their jobs, the only way to get to these people is to threaten their jobs.
Stop sending these scoundrels petitons and letters and emails and start devoting all our energies and resources into removing them from office. That is the only thing that will get their attention. We do not have to remove all of them, just the leaders, Pelosi, Conyers, Reid, etc. and the rest will fall in line.
I am doing everything I can to support Cindy Sheehan who is running against the political whore Nancy Pelosi. If their is anyone running against John "Uncle Tom" Conyers I would suppot them too.
Our vote and our financial support is the only real leverage we have against these scumbag politicians; we need to make full use of our votes and our financial support and throw these scumbags out of office. If anything the last seven years has shown us how little politicians are influenced by our will and needs. The only way to get to them is to take away teir jobs; fire the sons of bitches.
Its a waste of valuable resources to egage these "Benedict Arnolds" It is painfully obvious where their allegance lies and it isnt with "We the People". They made their bed and they are sticking with it. Fine. Expect an inventation to visit the unemployment office from the customer's entrance as the result.
