Montel Williams Loses Job after Defending Troops on Fox News

For just over three minutes on Saturday morning, TV talk show host Montel Williams owned the hosts of Fox and Friends. A former Marine and Naval officer, Montel lectured the stunned hosts on the stupidity of spending air time on the death of Heath Ledger, rather than covering the war in Iraq. It was a spectacle rarely seen on live cable television, as Montel exposed and condemned both tabloid "news" shows and much of American culture for what they have each become: shallow and greedy.
Three minutes into this awkward segment on Fox, one host cut off Montel in order to go to a commercial. Montel did not return after the break. Four days later, after 17 years as a television host, Montel lost his job. Variety reported on Wednesday that the
Fate of "The Montel Williams Show" was sealed when key Fox-owned stations opted not to renew it for the 2008-09 season.
I have no idea whether Montel already knew his show wasn’t going to be renewed, and thus felt emboldened to cut loose on the air, or whether his firing was a result of his actions on Saturday. Either way, Montel Williams exhibited courage this week that few in the television industry ever will. And for that, American troops around the world stand with him. We support him not only because he stood up for the troops, but because he did it on Fox News—a station that has done more damage to the U.S. military since 9/11 than any other.
Montel Williams is an American patriot. Though he left the military years ago, he has never forgotten "his" troops.
For that we salute and thank you, Montel. Best of luck with whatever you choose to do next.

Inviting Montel Williams to cover the Winter Soldier investigation would be an excellent idea, because his high profile would shine a spotlight on the hearings, which hardly anyone's noticed.
Hope someone will approach him with the idea.

was at a fundraiser just tonight for the winter soldiers invest. and pitched the idea to a few guys - including a friend who is an original 1971 winter soldier. seemed to like it. we'll see...oh and david was there too inspiring the nj suburbanites to get moving on impeachment actions - go david!

Totally slipped my mind ... My friend went and filled me in about Ann and said her speech was so fascinating, and unfortunately sad about what's happened to dissenters that we never hear about in the news. My friend asked Ann afterwards if PNAC is mentioned in her book, and she said yes, but not by name, it is alluded to .
We know what has happened to Montel , so we need to rise up and demand he be back on the air. What about The Montel and Rosie Show...think the networks would go for it? (tee-hee)
is more than alluded to in her book. not sure why she said that. she's got it laid out on page 3 including names: cheney, rumsfeld, wolfowitz, libby, jeb bush, bolton, perle, kristol and norquist. she mentions the "rebuilding america's defenses" report. yea she got right to it.
You go, Ann! I wonder what she means then? That she didn't literally write "PNAC" or "Project of New American Century"?
I was so glad my friend asked Ann about it afterwards, she just wishes she had asked her during the Q & A for the sake of the ignoramus in the audience that said to Ann: "We should have faith in our leaders". geesh
not sure what she meant then unless they miscommunicated because she "literally" used those words. regarding the administration using 9/11 and Iraq in the same breath, from the book:
"Since these claims were all proven false, why was the Bush administration so focused on regime change in Iraq? In the 1990s, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, I. Lewis Libby, Jeb Bush, John Bolton, Richard Perle, William Kristol, Grover Norquist, and other influential neoconservatives formed the Project for a New American Century (PNAC). They had felt it was a mistake not to remove Saddam from power in 1991...Shortly before the 2000 elections, PNAC released a report, "Rebuilding America's Defenses", calling for a more aggressive policy in the Middle East, including the use of force to remove Saddam from power..."
She goes on to say in Sept. 2001, Bush announced a new "National Security Strategy of the United States of America" which she called an "ideological match" to "Rebuilding America's Defenses." That "PNAC felt that a preemptive attack on Iraq would "dissuade" other countries from creating "asymmetrical threats" to U.S. power in the Middle East, provide the U.S. with the chance to build permanent bases in the region, and maintain access to the world's second-largest oil reserve, located in Iraq."
So, yea no mistaking that Col. Ann Wright exposes PNAC in her book. - want more? you're gonna have to go buy it! ;-)
I truly wonder what miscommunication happened there in the book-signing line ... how I wish I was a fly on the wall! Thanks, I will let my friend know, she will be as glad as I that Ann does indeed "OUT" the PNAC!!! (She didn't buy it that day)
Thanks to Montel for bringing up the obvious, which is verboten in virtually all US media. I only wished he had also asked how many innocent Iraqi civilians, including women and children, were killed since January as a direct result of the illegal war being prosecuted by the criminals in charge. And perhaps he could have mentioned how many have been slaughtered by our wonderful troops with the support of our tax dollars. The answer is well over a million. We are all complicit in war crimes; it will only stop when we the people stand up and refuse to pay for it.

This should be proof the media has the ultimate voice on who gets on tv, who is exposed to the public and who becomes president.
When analog tv blackout in 2009 the media will become even more powerful because there will be no national coverage of any event.
All coverage will be digital. This means you will only receive a signal the way you now receive a feed on your computer.
There will be no or very little tv broadcast over the airways. That means no national network public broadcast. No network will be bound by any public broadcast laws.
You will only receive what is fed by the networks. If the networks do not approve of what you say you will not be exposed to any public media.
The analog backout in 2009 will be the ultimate form of propoganda.
Next, network control of the internet. This is coming!

It took real courage to say what he did, and he deserves all our support and the thanks from our troops.
