Let Rep. Jerrold Nadler Know We Need Impeachment This Sunday

Here's a great opportunity to ask Congressman Jerrold Nadler very publicly to begin Cheney impeachment hearings.

The public is demanding it, as are many of his colleagues in Congress and on the House Judiciary Committee.

But Nadler chairs the Subcommittee on the Constitution, and is choosing not to uphold the Constitution.

In November, the full House voted to send a resolution to impeach Cheney to the Judiciary Committee, and it was placed in Nadler's subcommittee.

Nadler claims that impeachment is no longer a part of the Constitution, because we now have political parties. But we had parties when we held Nixon accountable. We've always had parties. No one can guarantee that Republicans in the Senate won't vote to convict the least popular vice president in history. And it is not the job of the House to do its duty only when it can guarantee that the Senate will do its duty. A new Senate will have the month of January 2009 in which to act. And impeachment even without conviction would establish a serious level of accountability, put Bush and Cheney on the defensive, and announce the birth of a real opposition party in Washington.

Nadler will speak on behalf of Hillary Clinton at a candidates forum on

Sunday, January 13th
1-3 p.m.
Fulton Hudson Guild
119 9th Ave
Between 17th and 18th Streets
New York NY

How can a New York Congressman get away with such tripe?!
He's on a committee to uphold the Constitution, and yet he claims that a part of it is null and void merely because of the existence of political parties?? Does he really think New Yorkers, let alone the rest of American voters, are that dumb?
The only reason elected officials can successfully squirm out of their duties is because the corporate media leaves them alone - their outrageous excuses and cowardly behavior are simply not brought to the public's attention when it counts.
Without good reporting in the media - and publicly owned media is not much better; it's also got corporate sponsorship, including from Wall Street firms - the "public eye" is forever blinkered.
