Dear Congressman Conyers,
As a fellow attorney, practicing in Pennsylvania sine 1978, I would like to lend my name and presence in your office as a staunch supporter of the concept of the impeachment of that "long list" of administration officials, especially Bush and Cheney, as the leaders of the most corrupt and distructive force to the Constitution in the history of the United States.
Now I know you have no way of knowing from one e-mail whether I am being open and truthful with you. Therefore, in direct opposition to the tactics of the members of the administration, I shall be open and candid about myself:

I think you need to be aware that I became vocally involved both in public and on the internet (AfterDowningStreet.org especially) after being inspired by your Capitol basement hearings about the Downing Street Minutes. I saw a replay one Friday night in June,2005 and that changed my perspective completely. I no longer felt like I was the only one who doubted much of what this administration was doing and claiming.
I have followed current events since that time on the ADS.org website along with other non-traditional media outlets such as Consortium News, Huffington Post, Mother Jones and several others. I no longer trust the likes of CNN and the other networks and will not even look at Fox, otherwise known as the propaganda arm of the right-wing neocon Republican Party.
I saw you on C-Span this past winter when the march took place and I heard you talk about how WE could fire the President. I was uplifted. I am again uplifted by your most recent statements and your call for support. Do not fear anyone for WE THE PEOPLE are with you and WE THE PEOPLE need you to lead from your powerful position as the Chair of the House Judiciary Committee. WE THE PEOPLE have your back. A majority of us (WE THE PEOPLE) favor extensive and vigorous investigation of the Bush administration. Let the facts prevail and the results follow the facts.
I really do not give a damn about the partisan politics of the situation. Worrying about the 2008 Elections is not what the America I have grown to love and revere needs right now. Displaying that Constitutional government is alive and thriving is what is needed right now and this has been needed since the Supreme Court selected the current sitting "President" in 2000.
Allowing the federal government to be co-opted by the forces of greed and uncontained power has brought us to the current Constitutional Crisis. Your Committee's report depicted this concept with great clarity and detail.
Suffice it to say that the evidence is there, the support among a great majority of Americans is there and all that is needed is the catalyitic action of a determined leadership to get the matter moving and the truth out.
This will not be popular with the image makers in the traditional media. WE THE PEOPLE do not care! The traditional media is a major part of the problem and are complicit in the ruse America has become since November, 2000.
As a fellow attorney, I beg you to read this message as a message from not just myself, but a message from disaffected Americans from all over the country who need you to aggressively fight for us and for the truth.

Dear sir,
I watched the video of your speech and I was quite moved to finally see another politician having the same understanding as the people and listening to the people. I’m glad you haven’t sold out like Madam Speaker by totally ruling out impeachment before it has even been discussed.
I am in a wheelchair and on the back of it I have a sticker stating “Impeach Bush” and everyday I have at least one person telling me that they want it to! So I know that the people want it, some representatives, including yourself and Mr. Kucinich, and a few senators know it as well. What is it going to take for the rest of Congress to listen to the people?!
I know this isn’t the greatest or longest letter you have or will receive, but it’s a letter from a person, a citizen of this great country who wants what you can start. Please don’t be like Madam Speaker and ignore your constitutional duties, our country depends on it!
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for having the courage to do what you know is right even if you are one of the only ones!

Or how about being moved by your own work? Have you forgotten that you wrote "George W. Bush Versus the U.S. Constitution", the definitve accounting of the impeachable offenses of the Bush administration?
Everyone needs a little reminder now and then; a little outside perspective to keep us effective in our work and valuable to our employer.
But I think I speak for a LOT of people when I say that if I had to be reminded constantly over the course of many months what my job is and the proper way to do it, I would be looking for another job.
Stop running from your responsibility, Mr. Conyers. You are failing the American people. Anyone who's looking can see right through you.

I don't want to be impolite but I happen to have been one of the several hundred people who came to your office on a work day to implore you to move on the impeachment of Cheney et al. We made so much noise the other congress whores couldn't do their work (of listening to the minions of the Israel lobbby, I guess). We had our big guns -- Cindy Sheehan and the Rev Yearwood go in to speak with you. What more can we do? This is a big country and lots of people have to work for a living. They cannot go to the Congress every time Bush and his cabal commit another crime.
Please Congressman Conyers heed your oath of office. Do not worry about Nancy and Hillary. We will have your back. We don't even like those two women. Go for it Congressman Conyers.
And don't dare give the Bush crime machine one more nickel to kill people.

Dear Congressman Conyers:
I have traveled to Washington, D.C., four times since January 2007 to urge you to impeach Bush and Cheney. The last time I went to your office, July 23, I stood in the corridors outside your office with hundreds of others to support you in beginning impeachment proceedings. Instead, you had us arrested!! I was one of five who went to jail for refusing to pay the $50 to have this non-violent impeachment action expunged from the record. For 24 hours we were subjected to food, water and sleep deprivation while shackled hand and foot in cold, filthy and barren cells.
Now you are wishing for a lot of people to come to your office?! Who are you kidding? Do you think that I or any of the CITIZENS FOR IMPEACHMENT from my hometown will ever come near your office again?! Do you think that we can trust a man who talks out of both sides of his mouth?! I have a book signed by you for contributing to your re-election campaign on the promise of beginning impeachment hearings. That was fraudulent fundraising! We are learning that the man we respected and admired is no better than his spineless colleagues. You say what the crowds want to hear, but your inactions speak louder than words. The ball is now in your court...if you want the support and respect of the 80% of Democrats who demand impeachment, you will have to earn it by commencing appropriate hearings without further delay.

I don't know which John Conyers to believe: the one in the video here or the one who Amy Goodman interviewed on Democracy Now on Aug. 28. Go to DemocracyNow.org and check out Conyers at both 20:49 - 22:48 and then again 24:39 - 27:48. He does not and will not support impeachment.
