Rally to End the War in Front of White House on September 15


ANNOUNCEMENT

A rally will be held at Lafayette Square Park (in front of the White House) at 5 p.m. ET on September 15, 2005. Earlier the same day, Congresswoman Lynn Woolsey will host hearings on Capitol Hill on exit strategies for Iraq. Also the same day, a coalition of organizations will hand in to Congress a petition for an exit strategy. (See http://www.peoplespetition.org )

Speaking at the rally will be Congresswoman Woolsey and other congress members who support ending the war. The rally will bring together a broad coalition, including military families and leaders from throughout the peace movement (including some not supporting the petition cited above).

I wonder how the timing will impact the effectiveness of this. It's only 2 weeks away. I'm sure Katrina will still be the top story in the news by then.

but if it is and we haven't made it a story that includes the war, something is wrong with us

where was the money for the levees?
where was the National Guard?
where were the trucks and helicopters?
where were the thoughts of our "elected" "leaders"?
what caused the global warming?
where are our priorities?
