The American Research Group Is Refusing to Poll on Impeachment Even for Cold Hard Cash

This polling company can be reached at 603-624-4081. If 1,000 people call up right now and politely request a poll on impeachment, it might help.

Why are we not doing our own polls, how difficult can it be?

By doing our own legitimate scientific polls it would force the regular poll companies to do like wise, if for no other reason than to try to prove us wrong.

My own unscientific poll; perfect strangers constantly coming up to me and commenting positively on my "Impeach Bush & Cheney" t-shirt, would indicate substantial support for impeachment.

I just called there...and politely asked/requested a poll on impeachment of Bush/Cheney.

Man who answered said (curtly), "I've already done it. It's been done." I asked if he had a URL for it? "Nope. Google it" and he slammed down the phone before I could ask his name.

So, I Googled it. The last one taken was March 15, 2006:

"Poll: Americans slightly favor plan to censure

RAW STORY
Published: Thursday March 16, 2006

A new poll finds that a plurality of Americans favor plans to censure President George W. Bush, while a surprising 42% favor moves to actually impeach the President.

A poll taken March 15, 2006 by American Research Group found that among all adults, 46% favor Senator Russ Feingold's (D-WI) plan to censure President George W. Bush, while just 44% are opposed. Approval of the plan grows slightly when the sample is narrowed to voters, up to 48% in favor of the Senate censuring the sitting president.

Even more shocking is that just 57% of Republicans are opposed to the move, with 14% still undecided and 29% actually in favor. Fully 70% of Democrats want to see Bush censured.

More surprising still: The poll found fully 43% of voters in favor of actually impeaching the President, with just 50% of voters opposed. While only 18% of Republicans surveyed wanted to see Bush impeached, 61% of Democrats and 47% of Independents reported they wanted to see the House move ahead with the Conyers (D-MI) resolution.

The poll, taken March 13-15, had a 3% margin of error."

Imagine what the numbers would be if they'd only take the poll NOW....since "the Surge...for Victory" as the Neo-cons/Kagan called it.....(did HE ever serve in the military....let me guess....) Meanwhile, Americans are dying.

How MANY have died just since the Neo-Con "Surge...for 'Victory'"???

That's a number I would like to know.

The sob's.

I called AMG and asked, very politely, the following:

Q: Do you have the latest popularity rating for George Bush?
A: Yes, you can find it on our website.

Q: Have you done a poll on impeaching Bush recently?
A: I don't know about recently, but we have done it.

Q: Wasn't your last poll on this question over a year ago?
A: Yes, probably.

Q: Do you think the poll would be different now?
A: I don't know.

Q: Would you consider polling this question?
A: No.

Q: Why not?
A: Well, if someone wanted to pay for it, I guess we would.

Q: How much would it cost?
A: I don't know.

Q: How can I find out how much it would cost to have this question polled?
A: I can take your name and number and have someone call you.

So, I gave my name and number. I might have a knock on the door tonight, or it may be busted down, and you'll not hear from me again. But if I get the answer (how much money???), I'll let you know.

Think of the last time someone raised their voice to you. The last time someone was rude to you, or even yelled at you. How did you respond?

If you're like most people, chances are you raised your own voice in response, and you were even less likely to consider their opinion with a relaxed and open mind.

Believe me, I share everyone's sense of frustration on this issue, compounded by a sense of disbelief that these things are happening with impunity in our country. I am guilty of venting inappropriately on a regular basis- even on this site ( sorry to all, and thanks for your patience and understanding!) but we all need to remember to take a deep breath before making these calls- hostile calls only give them an excuse to hang up on you and ignore your point- may even make them dig in their heels that much more!

Calm, polite, respectful reasoning backed up by fact is the way to go( I usually print up the key facts that I think I'll need and keep them by the phone- you can find types of great ammo on this site!) - don't give them an excuse to discount your position!

More flies with honey than with vinegar, and all that happy crappy-

In the mean time, it would't hurt to brainstorm other leverage points- money and public opinion seem to be ineffective (for the love of God, make the call anyway!) one possible avenue is to trace their funding (in the case of CNN, NYT, CBS, etc that would include major advertisers) and contacting them- possibly even targeted boycotting- who knows? (that's not rhetorical- if you do know, or even have some thoughts, please post them- even partially developed or incomplete thoughts may spark an idea in someone else!)

I think polling is probably the single most essential step to getting the ball rolling and stimulating public dialog on this- Henry Waxman's investigations are up there, too, but need to be discussed PUBLICLY- this issue is too damned important not to do everything we can!

Drysdale

P.S.- Yeah, I know that overuse of paranthetical phrases is bad form- It's a bad habit . Sorry.

I'll simply write about what we, the united local D.C. area
impeachment Meetups, do. We sell our "I M P E A C H H I M"
buttons for $1(they cost us twenty cents), and with our
"profits" we buy yard signs, which are "Free to a Good Home".
We do very well. At the moment we have lots of buttons, $700 in
the bank, and a new shipment of yard signs is due next week.
Check out www.waifllc.org , and for a fuller description
and history, look at my article "The Care and Maintenance of
Yard Signs" at OpEdNews.com.
Best wishes to all! Alan
