Memorandum for Record: Military Spending Concerns
FROM: SPC Freeman, Milo; US Army, Iraq
TO: Senate Democrats, Republicans, and "American Idol" viewers across the nation.
1. You. Punk. Ass. Pantywaisted. Bitches.
2. You had a chance. You could have put your money where your mouth is--could have put some ass behind all those claims of "favoring an end to war."
3. And you fucking choked.
4. Let me explain something to you. Your children; your spouses; your lovers and friends and parents and CONSTITUENTS are hostages to this war. They're dying for a conflict with no concrete objective. They're losing marriages and childhood moments to a neverending cycle of extended tours. Their equipment, their morale, is stretched thin. And some of them--those of us smart enough not to buy the fucking hype--were counting on you to find your fucking testicles and put an end to this shit. We were counting on you to save us from ourselves; to find a way to put us to use serving our country in ways perhaps more effective in rebuilding our nation.
5. And you. Fucking. Choked.
6. I haven't gotten a current edition of the paper in months. It's always a day behind. I don't get to check the news--I barely have the time. So what am I to think when I read yesterday's Stars and Stripes, and hear about this shit? Is that supposed to tell me that my leaders, my countrymen give a flying FUCK about what happens to me or my wife? Is that the message I'm supposed to glean from this STUNNING lack of cojones? Because I gotta tell you, America, I'm not seeing it.
7. I'm so sick of hearing this wretched war talked about in terms of Victory or Defeat. "If we leave, the terrorists will win."
8. Fuck that.
9. Today it's Terrorists. Yesterday it was Blacks/Gays/Jews/Hippies. Before that it was Communists. Before that, it was Uppity Colonials with Secondhand Muskets and Pitchforks. It's always fucking something with you people, isn't it?
10.You just need your little wars to feel good about yourselves, don't you? Something to make you feel threatened; something to make you feel heroic; ANYTHING to make you feel like your pathetic lives are more than just you against the Big, Black, Scary Infinite. Well, obviously, it's working.
11. You don't magically "win" an occupation. It's an inevitable bleed-out. We're stuck in a situation beyond our powers to fix, in a country that WE voted to destroy, whose history and people we neither understand nor care to try. We bought the hype, hook-line-and-sinker.
12. Fuck Victory. Fuck Defeat. Any way you slice it, This. War. Is. Wrong.
13.You don't keep trying to win the game after it turns out you bribed the refs. You fire the coaches and/or players responsible, and you hand over the Title. You take your lumps like a fucking man and try to rebuild. Accept it.
13. Hope you're happy, America. Clutch your pearls about all those dirty liberals who voted against the proposal ("They didn't Support The Troops!"). Whine about all the evil elderly schoolteachers and librarians protesting the war on a Saturday morning outside your courthouse.
14. But when your son or daughter or spouse or first lay comes home airfreight, mangled into a closed-casket service by a daisy-chain of 155s buried under Route Tampa, remember this:
15. It won't be the dirty liberals who put them there.
16. Hoo-ah.

you're right, SPC Freeman!
ex-military during vietnam taught me to NEVER TRUST THE POLITICIANS, FOR THEY WILL SURELY ALWAYS SELL US DOWN THE FUCKING RIVER EVERY TIME..
in your case, it's for OIL. in mine, it was also for OIL, had nothing to do with pushing back communism, as they said.
don't count on the 'brain dead' nation to feel any sympathy, too many watching 'AMERICAN MORON' to give a shit about you or any of the other tens of thousands of dead and wounded vets from this other ILLEGAL WAR FOR OIL..
you're right on target son! get the word out to the troops; 'YOU ARE ALL OUT THERE FOR A MONARCH WITH OIL SWIMMING AROUND IN HIS BEAN BRAIN BUCKET'
get home alive, then help us REVOLUTION this nation into RULE OF LAW when you get home!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what's going on in Iraq is a concerted effort to demolish the military and replace it with a private force of mercenaries for hire, to be used by the military-industrial complex to fight wars, not in the name of the nation, but in the name of the major corporations.
The Senate Democrats and Republicans aren't about to stop the war funding, because if the war isn't funded, the corporations who are making a handsome profit from this war won't be able to pour millions of dollars into the campaign war-chests of these same Senate Democrats and Republicans. So, they justify their continued funding of the war by claiming that it "supports the troops" when they're actually continuing to support these war profiteering corporations who pour their blood money into their political campaign coffers.
And as for the children, the spouses, the lovers and friends and parents and CONSTITUENTS ... do you honestly think that these professional politicians and political party officials really give a damn about the fact that they are all hostages to this war? No, they don't. As far as these professional politicians are concerned, the children, spouses, lovers, friends, parents and CONSTITUENTS can all go to hell, neither to be seen or heard from until the occasion calls for them to make an appearance, and when is that occasion? Why, the next election cycle, of course.
Whether we realize it or not, the current U.S. dollar system is in a freefall collapse, and it's only a matter of time before it crashes, and the entire world financial system evaporates, quite literally, overnight. What do you think Cheney's going to do about that? Simple... he'll start new wars in Iraq and Sudan as part of the "Permanent War/Permanent Revolution" doctrine that he can't wait to inflict on the rest of the world.
In the meantime, those "American Idol" viewers across the nation haven't really felt the impact of the IraqNam War yet. Many of them don't have a son or daughter or spouse or first lay coming home airfreight, mangled into a closed-casket service by a daisy-chain of 155s buried under Route Tampa. They haven't yet experienced the pain of watching their innocent loved ones die in the streets due to roadside bombs or suicide attacks. They've not gone without food, water, health care or electricity for weeks or months at a time because insurgents have cut off their access to the basic necessities of life.
Maybe when the IranNam war cuts off their access to all of their convieniences, like "American Idol", Prozac and iPods, maybe then ... they might rouse themselves from their stupor and toss the politicians who sent the nation into a meat grinder out of office.
Curious what your sources are. I've read similar things but weren't sure of their veracity.
it takes a bit of doing, but it's not that difficult to find out about it.
I've visited a few business news websites (CNBC.com is very helpful), and international news websites which have extensive business sections (I prefer Canadian news websites, especially the online versions of the Toronto newspapers) in order to find out more about the current crisis.
It also takes a concerted effort to read between the lines, and learning to discern what you're reading, because there's a major attempt to cover up the freefall of the U.S. dollar through a lot of spin.
Hope this helps...
... Dad ! He was talking the other day about a trip to Europe he took in '99. He said he couldn't afford it today because of the current exchange rate.
StephieL:
So just what are you implying in your first paragraph, that the mil/Indust complex is ok as long as it's predominently bureaucratic rather than corporate?
The problem is the inordinate vastness of military power and spending. The problem is the 700+ offshore military bases. The problem is militaristic imperialism.
The problem is not whether that imperialism primarily serves Clintonian paternalistic interventionism, or bushian fascist oligarchy. [It must of course serve both in order to function].
Maybe I'm reading too much in between your lines. But you make it sound like a right vs. left struggle for power.
Rather than the centralization/consolidation vs. desolution/withdrawal debate that it should be.
"Maybe when the IranNam war cuts off their access to all of their convieniences, like "American Idol", Prozac and iPods, maybe then ... they might rouse themselves from their stupor and toss the politicians who sent the nation into a meat grinder out of office."
That's exactly why I make remarks like this:

The only way to shake people out of their insular stupor is to force the issue:

---The Bikemessenger
it's a struggle to preserve a Constitutional Republic which is in danger of completely collapsing due to the military/industrial complex's morphing into an entity which combines the worst aspects of the bureaucratic and the corporate, which can use paternalistic interventionism or fascist oligarchy to bring about a military empire where soldiers fight wars at the behest of private interests, rather than in the best interests of the nation.
What I was implying in my first paragraph is that the military/industrial complex is transforming America's military into a mercenary force which doesn't defend the nation's interests, but is used by the MIC to enforce an "American Empire" which dominates the world through the barrel of a gun and brute force, rather than using diplomacy and peaceful infrastructure projects to develop the world.
While our military's primary role should be protecting the nation, it shouldn't be used as a battering ram to control and dominate other nations into submission. The inordinate vastness of military power and spending is causing our national debt to spiral out of control, because of the high cost of building, maintaining and keeping those 700+ offshore military bases fully staffed.
If the number of offshore military bases was cut in half, think of the money which could have gone to rebuild and maintain the levees in New Orleans, strengthen our floundering public schools, rebuild urban mass transit and our crumbling national railroad grid, and completely overhaul an early 20th century electric power grid which is incapable of meeting the electricity needs which the latter years of this century will demand.
In the meantime, Congress refuses to engage in the centralization/consolidation vs. desolution/withdrawal debate, because if they were to do so, the debate would force them -- especially the Democrats -- to take a second look at the wealthy corporate war profiteers who fill their political campaign warchests with money which has been acquired by their staunch support of militaristic imperialism.
However, as long as the American people either don't take themselves seriously enough to pay attention to what's happening, or they get so enraged by what's happening that they're not able to think clearly enough to find solutions to the many crises which face us, we can expect people to explode into angry rants and rages for a while, then internalize their anger once more, or they simply go deeper into a stupor in order to avoid taking responsibility for the welfare of the nation and those who choose to defend her.
I thought the Dems got the message in November that Americans wanted the war to end. Anyone who still supports this illegal, insane occupation should but their ass on the line and enlist. Since bush thinks this war is such a good idea he should send his precious Jenna and Not jenna over. I will NOT vote for anyone who I remotely think will cast one vote to continue this fiasco. The only person I can remotely think of supporting for President at this point is Kucinich. I don't trust the others, I know he will put an end to the war immediately. It breaks my heart to know all these bastards in congress are well aware that more people will die because they are spineless.
