It’s 11:30 pm and I’m listening to a one-man play about what it means to be a marine in Iraq. The actor IS a marine, Jeff Key and his straight-talk, rapid fire yet somehow folksy style is riveting the crowd. He tells it in a diarist’s style blow by blow but with plenty of reflective side comments. The ants and the heat, the sweet street kids, the blood, the chaos and all the horrible emotions.

It’s been a day, it has, my first afternoon and evening at Camp Casey II, the one-acre not-in-the-ditch site donated by Fred Mattlage, a Bush neighbor who supports what Cindy Sheehan started. Nice of him to get us out of the ditch but camping * or doing anything here would still be hell if it weren’t for the half-acre sized white “revival
