1) Update March 6:

The Bill for investigation to impeach Bush and Cheney (SJM8016) has cleared the Hearing phase and now it is up to the Washington State Senate Democratic leaders to decide if it will go to the floor for a vote.

Now that US Senator Murray and US Rep Inslee have lobbied against this Bill, the Impeachment campaign in the State of Washington is shaping up to be a battle between the will of the people and the establishment. The question that will be answered is what kind of a government are we living in? A Democracy is a bottom up government of the people, by the people, and for the people. An authoritarian government dictates what the people will do through a central top down control mechanism.

The people had a companion Bill in the House until Murray said NO! Well the people say YES and we are sailing through the Senate, then we go to the House.

We have 8 days to convince the Dem leadership to send this Bill to the Senate floor for a vote. I am including their contact info below so you can easily take action on this important issue.

Representatives Hasegawa and Chase both spoke at the Hearing on behalf of the Bill SJM 8016. That was a surprise. We know there is a lot of support in the House and we are confident the Bill will pass the Senate if it gets a vote. The fate of Democracy in our state depends on Lisa Brown, the Majority Leader in the Senate. Brown has the power to send this Bill to the floor for a vote and then it will go on to Chopp's plate. We have until March 14th to convince them.

Every now and then history provides the people opportunities to take a stand for Democracy - now is one of those times.

1) Lobby - go to Olympia and visit ALL the Senators, especially your Senator and the Dem Leadership. Leave a note or print this form letter below to put in their inbox

2) contact the Dem leadership (info below) and your Senator - go to http://www1.leg.wa.gov/Senate to find your Senator

3) contact all people of influence ( news producers, editors, reporters, heads of organizations, business leaders, ex-politicians) and urge them to take a stand for the constitution, let them know you are for impeachment of Bush and Cheney

4) contact all email lists, friends, and close contacts and urge them to contact Lisa Brown

The people of Washington State have a golden opportunity to make their voices heard in Washington DC. SJM 8016 petitions Congress to open serious investigations leading to impeachment of grave allegations of abuse of power and wrongdoing President Bush and Vice President Cheney.

As long Bush and Cheney remain in office the war will go on and important domestic legislation will be thwarted. Congress will simply be pushed aside with signing statements and presidential vetoes. SJM 8016 is the first step in taking our country back and bringing our soldiers home.

You, the Democrat Leadership, can make a difference in our state and in our country. I urge you to move this bill forward by allowing Bill SJM 8016 to go to the Senate floor for a vote.
