Cindy's Truth

Memphis Flyer
A mother's vigil puts shame to an inaccessible president.
CHERI DELBROCCO

In 1971, when the album Imagine came out, American soldiers were dying by the thousands in Vietnam. The title song on the album was so captivating that the other tunes didn't get much notice; however, one of them is surely among the greatest by John Lennon. It should become the soundtrack to The Cindy Sheehan Story: Courageous Mother Who Stopped the Bush War in Iraq:

"Give Me Some Truth"

I'm sick and tired of hearing things

From uptight-short sighted-narrow minded hypocrites.

All I want is the truth

Just give me some truth

I've had enough of reading things

By neurotic-psychotic-pig headed politicians.

All I want is the truth

Just give me some truth

No short haired-yellow bellied son of Tricky Dicky

Is gonna Mother Hubbard soft-soap me with just a

Pocketful of hope, money for dope, money for rope

I'm sick to death of seeing things from tight lipped-

Condescending-mommy's little chauvinists.

All I want is the truth

Just give me some truth

I've had enough of watching scenes of schizophrenic-

ego centric

Paranoiac-prima donnas.

All I want is the truth

Just give me some truth

Cindy Sheehan is an American hero. She is suffering the hell that is Texas in August, but she is cool, for she has suffered a hell much worse than soaring temperatures. She has suffered the most painful of all sufferings: the death of her child. Because she hopes her son's death was not in vain and because she believes it was caused by the deceitful decisions of his commander in chief, she wants some explanation and an honest acknowledgment of her loss. But what her broken heart really wants is some truth.

So far, she has gotten none. Dubya and Laura didn't even wave as their Texas convoy of SUV's zoomed by the protesters - and the nearly 2,000 crosses they have erected, representing the American servicemen and women who have died in Iraq - on their way to a fund-raising barbecue.

Meanwhile, the right-wing press and other administration lackeys do as they are told: They smear Sheehan, ridicule her, question her integrity. They make fun of her, calling her names like "cow" and "media whore." They attempt to divide her family. And they do it while calling themselves Christians, a religion founded by a man called the Prince of Peace.

The humble questions of this mother are shining like bright lights in a dark cave. Her truth is penetrating the hearts of Americans.

September 11th will soon be here, along with the "celebrations" of patriotism that will accompany it. That day cannot come soon enough for the president, because during the dog days of August, a brave mother of a dead soldier is making him run and hide. Just by asking for some truth.

Bush "The Shrub" doesn't care and never did. How can someone shame those who fought on the front lines and spilled blood as did John Kerry and many others when he avoided it by all costs? He has surrounded himself by the same cowards "War Sissies" in his administration. Cheney said he had more important thing to do than fight in a war "Vietnam War" and got himself five deferments. Did you know since Colin Powell jumped ship no one in the Bush administration has fought in a war?
"not one" and they say "Bush is tough on terror"? When did cowards become tough in this country? Is it all just a media show? Tell enough lies and people tend to believe you?

The truth is that Casey chose the military... he knew he might die and he knew he might not come home. Why can't Cindy face that truth? Who's the narrow-minded hypocrite now? Cindy Sheehan is!!! She went home... hopefully she'll stay there. Maybe her mother's stroke was a sign from God. Maybe God wants Cindy to stay with her family members that she still has. Maybe God supports President Bush!!! After all, think of the 50 million Iraqis who live better because of this war. Or, are you hypocrites too narrow minded to do that? And, isn't pulling out of Iraq immeadeately a short sighted goal? Me and John Lennon both are tired of hearing crap from you uptight-short sighted-narrow minded hypocrites... which is the unabridged term for a Democrat!

I was wondering how long it would take before we started seeing
the childish arguments of "God has spoken. He has struck down Cindy's mother!! Repent all you uppity whores & witches!! Repent before God's wrath comes down on us ALL!!!"

I am sure this one is playing in all my local Fundamentalist churches here in North Carolina.

As far as "Truth", Casey chose the military and swore to "Defend the US Constitution and US interests" . . . NOT BushCo's private interests, PNAC's plans for Global Domination, OR to fight Israel's war for them. If he wanted to be a Pinkerton, he could have become a corporate mercenary, uh, excuse me, "contractor."

So. . . big John Lennon fan, eh? What's your favourite album?

"Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try
No hell below us,
Above us, only sky"
- John Lennon

peace.

Most likely assassinated by the same PNAC NEO CON cabal that got us into this illegal war.

They sure as hell hijacked his TV memorial special right after 9/11. I've never seen so much flag waving and war drum pounding in my life.

At least he said "maybe." This is real progress.

Sir, 10s of thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens have died since we "liberated" their country. Women and children are being tortured and raped. Is this also God's doing -- is he punishing them as he is punishing Cindy Sheehan? Ghandi said this of US Christians: "I like your Christ but I do not like your Christians ... your Christians are so unlike your Christ".

I APPLAUD CINDY. SHE IS STANDING FOR WHAT SHE BELIEVES IN. HER SON STOOD FOR HIS BELIEF TOO. IT IS A TRAGEDY THAT HE GAVE HIS LIFE. IT IS A CRIME THAT OUR GOVERNMENT MANIPULATES AND LIES TO THE PEOPLE OF THE USA BY WHATEVER MEANS NECESSARY TO PROTECT THE ALMIGHTY OIL DOLLAR. THEY ENRICH THEIR OWN POCKETS AT THE EXPENSE OF OUR COUNTRYS YOUNG AND IMPRESSIONABLE. I BELIEVE IT IS AN HONOR TO SERVE YOUR COUNTRY, BUT IF YOU HAVE EVERY BEEN TO A RECRUITING OFFICE OR TRAINING CAMP AND LISTENED TO THE RHETORIC, AND WITNESSED THE BRAINWASHING THAT OUR YOUTH ARE GIVEN AS THE TRUTH, YOUR EYES MIGHT OPEN, AND YOU MIGHT ACTUALLY TO BEGIN TO THINK AND REASON. THE AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE LIKE GUINEA PIGS, MOST BELIEVE WHATEVER THEY HEAR ON THE NEWS OR AS SPOUTED BY THEIR CHURCHS. AND IF THEY DO BY CHANCE HEAR A DIFFERENT VERSION, THEY DISMISS IT FROM THEIR MINDS, BECAUSE THEY CANNOT FATHOM THAT THEIR GOVERNMENT WOULD OUTRIGHT LIE TO THEM. SO BLESS THOSE LIKE CINDY, IT IS NOT JUST THE PAIN OF LOSING HER CHILD THAT DRIVES HER, IT IS A RATIONAL BRAIN THAT IS ACTUALLY THINKING AND SPEAKING SO THAT OTHERS MAY HEAR. AS A TEENAGER I LEARNED TO THINK DURING THE VIET NAM WAR, IT WAS WRONG THEN AND EVEN MORE WRONG NOW. "ALL WE ARE SAYING, IS GIVE PEACE A CHANCE...."

Tone it down a little, and you'll have more credibility-also, much easier to read.

I TYPE IN ALL CAPS BECAUSE I AM GOING BLIND.
I AM NOT SHOUTIN.
I REALIZE WHAT THE CAPS MEAN IN THE WORLD OF COMPUTERS. SO EVERYONE, PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR WANTING TO BE ABLE TO READ WHAT I TYPE, NOT ALL OF US ARE BLESSED ANY LONGER WITH PERFECT VISION AND PERFECT WORKING BODIES.

So according to the trolls, if you volunteer for military service it gives the President a green light to exploit you without any right of recourse?

If you choose to honour your country by serving and risking your life it means you have no right to comment on the justness of the war?

I just do not get the argument that if you volunteer you have no right to questions the actions of a near fascist president.

(And by the way - 50 million Iraqis! - utter ignorance.)

STOP THE IRAQ HOLOCAUST.

I have always been a strong supporter of Bush... but, I have some questions. Fighting and death should never be the answer... and, if so it should be the last resort. So, did the 10,000's of deaths in Iraq prevent more people from getting killed? As of now I think so. Saddam Hussein killed over 25 million people, so is losing 10,000's a just sacrifice... or is it not worth it? Seriously, I think it's time for peace. But, by leaving Iraq... will it create short-term peace and only leave fighting for the future? I don't know what made me come to this realization, but those are the questions that I need answered. I've also realized that some people, myself included, have said some very hateful things on this website. But, if we want peace in Iraq and around the world... why not start right here in America? Life is too short to waste it hating each other!!! I know at times it may be hard.. but, sometimes we all just have ti forgive and move on with life.

Peace!!!
