WHY CASEY SHEEHAN WAS KILLED

by Aaron Glantz

Since President Bush won’t meet with Cindy Sheehan to explain why her son Casey died in Iraq, I thought I would put forward the information I have. Like Army Specialist Casey Sheehan, I was in Baghdad’s Sadr City on April 4, 2004.

I was there as an unembedded journalist. Unlike Casey Sheehan, I wasn’t killed.

I had traveled to Sadr City to cover the Bush Administration’s undemocratic attack on the movement of Shi’ite cleric Muqtada Sadr. It didn’t matter that the cleric had millions of followers or that he was scion to an important political family with a history of standing up to tyranny. (His father was killed by Saddam’s regime for fomenting revolution in 1999. His uncle, Grand Ayatollah Mohammed Baqir al-Sadr, was killed for leading an insurrection against Ba’ath rule in 1980.)

It didn’t matter that Sadr’s forces were providing food aid to the poor, or organizing traffic patrol and garbage duty in an atmosphere with no basic services.

The problem for Bush and his Iraq Administrator L. Paul Bremer was that Sadr was against American occupation. So he had to be dealt with. First his newspaper was closed. Then his top advisor was arrested. Then, Bremer announced an unnamed judge was demanding Sadr be arrested on charges of murder.

“He’s effectively attempting to establish his authority in place of the legitimate Iraqi government,

Our sons and daughters in uniform have sworn a solemn oath to obey the lawful orders of their President, whether their is statesmanlike wisdom, or only deceit and hubris behind those orders.
The duty must fall to all of us, as citizens of this democracy, to be careful stewards of their service, as much as their own mothers and fathers.
We should all stand with the mother, who demands to hear the whole truth from this president!

The question is whether this president's orders to invade, occupy and rain "shock and awe" death and destruction on a country that did not then pose any threat to the United States nor its Constitution can be considered lawful.

The U.N. has said that they were not, and so have the highest courts in the world, including the worldwide court of public opinion. That's why Bush, Bolton and the rest of the gang have been so desparate to declare the coward-in-chief and his actions beyond ALL legal jurisdiction.

Ordinary soldiers don't have any such army of lawyers and accomplises to provide a defensive wall of perverted legal advice and loopholes. Nevertheless, some soldiers have seen the truth and some, like Sgt Benderman, are now paying the price for their adherence to a higher law.

This is an excellent article that states well what is occuring in Iraq. Maybe this needs to be forwarded on to President Bush to read. It doesn't appear he knows the truth about Iraq. Maybe this would help him learn.

There is so much information that we have to sift through. DOWNING STREET, PLAME, TORTURE, ILLEGAL WAR. What I find troublesome is the use of words like Shock and Awe. We went to war to free a country and made more enemies because of this governments lies. When Bush talks of enemies he really is refering to those who are pissed at us for what we are doing in Iraq. These people have had a huge loss of life at the hands of our government. We were supposed to liberate.

I have to say we went to war for oil and with all we know now that is the truth. 14 permanent military basis built in Iraq along the oil fields before the war even began. Haliburtian no bid contracts.Chenny conection to Haliburtan. Haliburtan is based I think in the Camen Islands and is out of the United States tax base. Downing Street Memos. Six major media corporations control what we see on the news. One thing someone said in a post, what would happen if the democrats stopped communicating with right wing media? What a statement for us to be silent what would they have to talk about? One other tidbit that I saw today. Russia and China have joined together in a treaty. What have others heard about this because all I here is Aruba.
