The American leadership (at least the current leadership) just doesn't seem very adept at devising and implementing imperial strategy. Maybe it's time to let the Brits demonstrate their well-deserved reputation for using the "divide and conquer" approach in empire building and maintenance.

Where are all those Colonel Blimps when you need them?

i saw this advice to the WH quite awhile ago and wondered why this hasn't been taken up?? appoint some from the U.N. to watch over Iraq {NOT the U.S.} and get us out of there!!

It can be done,IF we can get GWB and Co. to meet with them and ask for this not doable????

I feel/think that if Iraq was turned over to the UN, it might ease
a lot of the anger of the resistance that is getting in the way
of stabiization.

I guess two questions come to mind:
1. Would the UN take it on?
2. Would John Bolton cut a "hissy-fit" over it?
