THE RIGHT WING BULLY BOYS vs. MOM

By Larry C. Johnson

The clueless right wing is up in arms over the momentum of the Cindy Sheehan anti-war movement. There appears no depth they will not plumb, nor mudpit they will not enter in their effort to smear a mother who gave her son in service to our country. I cannot award a Chutzpah prize because there are too many deserving schmucks. Take wheelchair bound Charles Krauthammer's recent vicious attack:

She says she wants to ask the president why her son died. She already knows her own answer, and her answer is -- and she's said this openly -- to enrich the president's friends, meaning oil companies and contractors. There are a lot of honorable reasons and thoughtful reasons to oppose the war in Iraq. That's not one of them. And to advance the idea, as she has also, to the press of the entire world that we are in Iraq as a matter of imperialism is to demoralize our troops, encourage our enemies, and to encourage those who say that we are there as conquerors and not as liberators, which can only endanger our troops, which I think is a disgrace.

Well, well. What does Charles say about President Bush's multiple misrepresentations of why he took our nation to war? Nothing! In fact, according to Krauthammer's reasoning, to even challenge the President over what we now know to be as patently false reasons for going to war, you are disloyal and demoralizing the troops. The same specious reasoning has been echoed by rightwing apologists like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Michelle Malkin and Ann Coulter.

These apologists for Bush's war ignore the lapses in leadership by George Bush and his Department of Defense that truly demoralizes the troops; things such as inadequate force strength on the ground in Iraq to control the battlefield; insufficient supplies of body armor; lack of fully armored vehicles for conducting patrols; and lack of a plan for victory in Iraq. George Bush, with the acquiescence of a pliable Congress, has sent our men and women to war in Iraq that he chose to start. Whether Cindy Sheehan's explanation for why Bush took us to war is correct is irrelevant. What we know for certain is that George Bush lied to the American people and continues to lie about the reasons we are at war.

Initially, at least, we went to war to prevent another 9-11. While the intelligence community made mistakes about the status of Iraq's efforts to rebuild its stockpiles of nuclear and chemical weapons, it got it exactly right that Iraq had no role whatsoever in supporting or promoting Al Qaeda's attack on 9-11. But Bush and his Vice President chose to ignore the intelligence community and have continued to insist on the lie that Saddam was working in tandem with Bin Laden.

Bush's misguided invasion of Iraq not only resulted in the death of Casey Sheehan and more than 1800 other U.S. military men and women, it diverted scarce military resources from the hunt for the Al Qaeda. If Cindy Sheehan does get a chance to sit down with the President I hope she asks him why the masterminds of 9-11--Osama Bin Laden and Ayman Zwahiri--are still on the loose and issuing videotaped threats to attack our country again.

If her son had died during an operation to kill Bin Laden than Cindy would at least have the peace of mind to know that her son died trying to make America safer. Instead, her son died in Iraq in an operation whose rationale still remains unclear. But we now know for certain that at least one of the President's claims, i.e., that we are "fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here", is no longer true. Instead of a safer America the President has made America at greater risk of a terrorist attack by the Islamic extremists who struck our shores almost four years ago. Since 9-11 the number of international terrorist attacks have soared to unprecedented levels. Last year, for example, there were almost 700 separate terrorist attacks in which someone was killed or wounded. This marks the highest level of terrorist activity since data was first recorded in 1968.

So, as of today, Cindy Sheehan's son is dead along with the sons and daughter of almost 1900 other families. The insurgency in Iraq is growing in strength and level of international terrorism is growing. That Cindy Sheehan is angry should not surprise us. That all Americans are not up in arms over the recklessness of George Bush should.

Well, Larry,

At least Mr. Krauthammer gave his name!

Mr.Krauthammer is one of the frontline Uber-Zionist attack troops. Don't be embarrased to point out the faults in his political reasoning and worldview just because he is in a wheelchair. I remember reading reports a few years ago in my home city of a blind guy who would attack policemen needlessly if he heard them close by.

Many "powerful" groups, they are actually comprised of adults who are still children with dangerous toys, are very threatened by Cindy Sheehan and groups like hers. They watch the zeitgeist very closely and if anyone or any group appears on their radar screens who thretens their myopic worldview, they work out how to destroy such a threat.

When people discover that what have been fighting for is not as noble as what they thought, they tend to lose motivation and turn on the architects of such devious ventures. This is a good thing. Lies and Wars go very well together. Just as Truth and Peace go very well together.

As Rudyard Kipling said...

"If any question why we died. Tell them because our father's lied."

It's been the Jews all along! Damn them!

No, it was Haliburton!
No, it was Karl Rove!
No, it was Michelle Malkin! Ann Coulter! Rush did it!
No, it was all about oil!
No, it was Tony Blair!

For Cindy: Sorry for your loss. Honest. Now shut the fuck up.

Tisk tisk. Is a shame to see someone so deeply tormented that the voices in their head start spilling over into everything they write also.

I do feel for you, its got to be one hell of a caterwauling mess up inside a that heada yours.

Our father's what lied? Oh I get it. You mean to say our FATHERS lied. How deep. I just love a good metaphor. Wish it were one.

Here's the president in Williamsburg VA earlier this summer

He's wearing a full skirt of stars and stripes

The quote from Cat Stevens seems appropriate these days

I remember seeing it and thinking how much fun the photographer had when he shot it. He had to have known exactly what he was doing. I told my son, when you start seeing bad photos you know the party is over.

I know!!

I saw it and downloaded it immediately - the photographer caught such a 'ballroom hitler' image of Bush

I knew with just a little tinkering..

With the move to private land there is no limit to how much Camp Casey will grow. Ironic that the land is owned by a cousin of the gun shooter. This war truly is dividing families and the country. Rock on, Cindy!!!! Power to the people!!!

Mania, Intimidation and Bullying are the weapons of cowards.

Patience, Trust Building and Respect are the weapons of the righteous.

There is one consistent quality to the right wing attack: It usually is based in a lie. When pointing out there misconceptions and lies, make sure you pin point the lie at the foundation of their hateful attacks. For example, the right will not address any of the lies for why we went to war. Most of them are still waiting for WMDs so they can fuel their hate and feel righteous for the killings made in our countries name. If they could, they would take are right to decent away by terming it as Tony Blair has in his country -- a danger to their countries national safe guard. The Republicans on many occasions will argue a truth as a difference of opinion. There were no WMDs, yet when you argue this point with them, the content they are still there so we have a right to be in Iraq. Even the media will treat this argument as if it is a matter of the way each side looks at the facts and draws conclusions. I tend to look at it as one side’s inability to face the truth. Not two sides arguing how we should address the facts. We must stop the media from using "fair and balanced" to forward a lie. Go Cindy

Joseph

Lies about WMD? You've made serious claims, and substantiated none of them. Let's stop dealing with the facts surrounding the matter at the time. To set the context of the times prior to the war, let's hear from a couple of certified non-Bush suppporting, non-neocons as to what they thought at the time about Saddam having WMD.

""Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to completely deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power.

We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country."

Al Gore, Former Clinton Vice-President
Speech to San Francisco Commonwealth Club
September 23, 2002

http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2002-09-23-gore-text_x.htm

http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,12271,797999,00.html

http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2002/09/24/1032734161501.html

"

Ok, Gore knew there WMD in Iraq in the days leading up to the war - so in your mind he must be a liar too. Well then let's ask Senator Hillary Clinton what she thought shall we? (And as context, at the time I had respect for Gore, and I do still respect both Clintons).

""In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including Al Qaeda members...

It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons."

Senator Hillary Clinton (Democrat, New York)
Addressing the US Senate
October 10, 2002

http://clinton.senate.gov/speeches/iraq_101002.html

"
There a many, many more such statements from the record at the time by the way. The truth of the matter is that the intelligence available at the time indicated that Saddam had and was further pursuing WMD and so thinking, reasonable people believed that to be true. Why? Primarily, because Saddam wanted the world - especially his closest not-so-friendly neighbors - to believe he had and was pursuing WMD. And beyond that, our intelligence gathering and processing capabilities were sub par to say the least.

Saddam played an aggressive and clever game of brinksmanship with the UN and the US for years - and he almost won. He came close to pulling off what would have been one of the greatest victories ever by a ruthless dictator against the free world. He came very close to having 'stared down' the US (and the UN, but that is not an accomplishment of any merit even in Saddam's circles) over WMD. WMD being of the utmost strategic importance in the post 9/11 world. Doing so would have cemented his place on top of the Islamic world for decades to come.

The simple fact of the matter is that the sum of intelligence available at the time indicated that Saddam had WMD. Gore, Clinton, the Congress, and yes, even George W. Bush, acted prudently based upon what they knew at the time. I support them for taking the actions they did, and would have done the same if I were in their position. Second guessing or puposely lieing about decisions and actions taken at that time based upon the best information available to those leaders that had to make the difficult decisions that you and I did not, is ignorant and disingenuous at best, and seditious at worst.

There is ample room for discussion as to whether the decisions and actions taken by our leaders was the right thing to do, but there is no merit whatsoever in the continued beating of the 'Bush lied' strawman. Though still without merit, it would be more accurate to open it up to 'Bush, Gore, Clinton, Congress, and Intelligence Agencies Lied', but I would love to hear the claims and substantiation of same for that one...

In my above reply, "Let's stop dealing with the facts..." obviously should be "Let's start dealing with the facts...".

Sorry about that.

Oops! Your Freudian slip is showing. There are no accidents. You were right the first time.

Have a nice lying day.

What the hell does Al Gore's speech have to do with what this murdering president? Can you tell me with 100% confidence that within the body of your reference material there is an answer to why we did not find any WMDs? I think not. This president, if you have not heard, fix the material to fit the policy. Someone out there cannot face the mounting facts surrounding their support for a president who is killing men, women and innocent children. These facts are in your face and you know it.

A man walks into a bank. Tells the teller that he has a gun, give him the money. Money handed over, the man yells, "anyone move and I will shoot them". Guard shoots and kills the robber. Store clerk from the gun store next door says he sold the guy a gun the day before. Everyone complains guns are too easy to buy. Police say he had a record. Everyone complains guns are too easy to buy. Report comes out that the guy never had a gun. The "anti-war" crowd complains the guard is a murderer because the guy never had a gun and he should have figured that out before shooting him.

The anti-war crowd is anti-war....whether or not WMD existed (the left complained prior to actual combat that of course there was WMD in Iraq, and they had pictures to prove the United States SOLD them to Iraq) the anti-war crowd would find something to use as an excuse to be anti-war.

Yes, please Go Cindy...go somewhere where you can grieve and not pose for the cameras....

We are fighting terrorism here in the good ole USA. The worlds biggest terrorist is g w bush. And he lives in the Whitehouse.

First, you're wrong!
Second, support your statement!
Third, support it with evidence that makes sense!
Fourth, George Bush is currently living in Crawford!
Fifth, tell me what you have done to fight terrorism!

Another anonymous coward has learned to type,Bush is vacationing in Crawford you moron. Also Bush has killed more innocent people than OBL.

Actually, Bush is still a citizen of Texas, and he holds a temporary position while residing in a building that does not belong to him; he is at his legal home in Texas. You could say he is vacationing in the White House. But hey, we are really just splitting hairs. Ill leave the personal slurs to the 'Party of the People'.

You really could say bush has been vacationing in the White House for five years now. Unfortunately!

Why, she has added a "Free Tibet!" sticker to her car, and regularly says that terrorism is bad.

As a Vietnam veteran I have some expertise in understanding military morale in a combat situation..The best way to demoralize your troops is to change the cause of why you are asking them to die while in the middle of the battle. Soldiers generally like to die for what they believe is the truth....and the truth doesn't change. Nobody can do a better job of demoralizing our troops than Bush has already done with his switching from an imminent attack on our country with WMD's to nation building/and freedom marching in the Middle East.
Those who have fallen Iraq believing they were protecting America from WMD's have died in vain, or so it would seem.

" Soldiers generally like to die for what they believe is the truth...."

Soldiers generally like to die? Gimme a break.

As another Viet Nahm era veteran and former fighter pilot and squadron commander, I have to disagree in the strongest terms with your statements that our soldiers, "generally like to die for what they believe is the truth....and the truth doesn't change" and "Those who have fallen Iraq believing they were protecting America from WMD's have died in vain, or so it would seem".

None of our soldiers 'like' to die. They are proud to put their life on the line doing what our nation asked of them, but they most certainly do not like to die. And any member of our military who dies doing what the nation asked of them MOST CERTAINLY DID NOT DIE IN VAIN.

I'm incredulous that a supposedly former military person could write such things. It is one thing to criticize the prosectution of the war at the highest levels, but no amount of criticism from you or anyone else changes the honor or integrity of duty of any member of our armed services in lawfully carrying out their orders. Whether you agree or disagree with the reasons for a war, changes nothing regarding the honor and integrity of our troops.

Why do we continue to call people like Ann Coulter, Hannity, Limbaugh and the others like them "conservatives?"

A long time ago there were people who called themselves conservatives who were also capable of seeing the world through the eyes of others, recognized that others had legitimate opinions even if they disagreed, and tried to focus on the collective good, rather than domination of opponents and economic gain. There were people who thought of themselves as conservatives who actually voted for civil rights, wilderness protection and other issues that wouldn't have a chance today because they were finally convinced that it was the right thing to do, so they fought for compromises to address their beliefs, without spreading fear and hatred.

Now, the people who are legitimized as "conservatives" are actually nationalistic idealogues, using all the tactics of nationalistic extremists, such as creating fear, scapegoating, distortion and others.

Why don't we stop playing softball and start recognizing and labelling them for what they are? They are actually agressive, pro-war, nationalist idealoques. The wackier ones have now crossed over into open hatred people like Mrs. Sheehan, and given respectability by being called "conservatives," even when they aren't.

Once you recognize what someone really is, then you can begin to deal with them effectively.

What would we be doing differently if we recognized that we are dealing with nationalistic idealogues?

"fascist" is the correct word for the likes of Hannity and Coulter

Don't be embarrased to point out the faults in his political reasoning and worldview just because he is in a wheelchair.

And don't be embarrassed to point out that he is in a wheelchair when you can't find any faults in his political reasoning and worldview.

For what it's worth -
until we figure out exactly what Bush is doing in
Crawford, whether it is riding with Lance,
keeping the grounds weeded, etc...

You're not going to see much if anything
of the real truth about the war,
usually packaged as lies, dont' you think?

Inspired me to write my own post. Thanks!

I love it when Moonbats shriek. Can you hear it? hahahahahahahaha

Im not afraid to give my name, I will even give my address if you like.

What exactly does "wheelchair bound" have to do with Krauthammer's statements, other than being a feeble attempt to malign him? I saw no further reference in the screed that had to do with his physical condition, so why was it mentioned?

"Uber Zionist attack troops"? I may get fired for guffawing at work after reading that one. Where do you people get this stuff?

You start out like you're going to explain what "wheelchair bound Charles Krauthammer's recent vicious attack" is about as an example of "clueless right wing" being "up in arms" in your first paragraph. There is no doubt that the right side of the blogosphere is saying a lot of critical things about Sheenan, but you fail to list any of them or attempt to refute them. Instead you spend the rest of the article saying that you agree with Sheenan without advancing any real argument at all. "Bush lied" may be an article of faith for you, but unless you're just shouting into the echo chamber for your own entertainment, it doesn't accomplish much as an argumentative device.

I'd like to know what they are saying that you take issue with, and what evidence you have that what they are saying is false. Most of what I've been reading have been quotes straight from her mouth, or represented as such. Do you have evidence that these quotes have been fabricated? Also, as a follow-on question, do you consider the things Sheenan says to be fair game for political discourse, or do you believe she should be given a pass in deference to her status as mother of a slain warrior?

It figures!
When thought-fascists start quoting Islam-fascists to comfort themselves, their cause is truly over. Yosef Islam (your Cat Stevens) publicly called for the murder of an author for daring to call islam what it is; a murderous cult.
Krauthammer was right, there are legitimate reasons to question our presence in the Middle East, but as long as the fever-swamp moonbats continue their ridiculous and treasonous rants we can never have a reasoned conversation.
Note to Karl Rove; get these people on the front page of every newspaper in the country, Cindy Sheehan and David Duke, have them stand in front of Michael Moore holding a picture of George Soros. We can’t buy publicity like this.

wow pity the poor Allied soliders that didn't get to off Hitler or Mussolini personally, what a wasted effort eh, World War II. Gosh darn I guess the only American soldiers who must feel good about themselves were the ones that caught Saddam Hussein?

hey that's the stupid logic of Sheehan and the author......

or what, the Taliban and the Baathists were such great guys and life in Iraq and Afghanistan was so hunky dory, blinders come in all sizes huh

And greedy right-wing Repo extremists like yourself have no business twisting the truth about WWII -- because it was exactly your klan that harbored and offered assylum to Nazi leaders, Nazi scientists & Nazi (experimental) doctors for bottom-line self-interests. I don't see the need, then, to publish "...the stupid logic of..." Kristian Nazi Repo Fundamentalism. You, and other anti-Amerikan traitors should be forced back into that polluted womb from whicheth thou poppeth outeth. Then the free world could go forward with embryonic stem cell research or (more appropriate in your case) find added support for use of abortion.

...it got it exactly right that Iraq had no role whatsoever in supporting or promoting Al Qaeda's attack on 9-11.

That's a very well crafted sentence, Larry, or is it error? You imply that there is evidence of al Qaeda's connection to Iraq. You're right about that, too. We know that Saddam's henchmen were funneling money to al Qaeda afilliated Ansar al-Islam in the Kurdish controlled part of Iraq. We know that bin Laden himself issued a fatwa on behalf of Iraq in 1998. There's also a great deal of evidence that Iraqi agents had met with al Qaeda operatives in both Sudan and Malaysia in the years prior to 9/11. Of course, such an implicit admission as that belies your own opposition to the Iraq war. I hope your leftwing friends don't notice that.

By the way, we're starting to find evidence that Saddam did have something to do with 9/11. It's still very sketchy and could be mere happenstance, but several of the 9/11 hijackers are now known to have been in Germany the same week that two Iraqi intelligence officers were arrested there. It now seems possible that Saddam was at least complicit 9/11. Granted, he'd be insane to have anything to do with 9/11, but he is, you know, totally insane. (you can reference this story from several German papers, or the Captain's Quarters blog)

At best, Cindy Sheehan is a distraction in this debate. As someone who claims to be so devoted to the truth, you should be less interested in the emotional appeal of an obviously despondent mother, and more concerned about the actual facts of the case for waging war with Saddam.

One other thing: while you complain about those who criticize Cindy, you should also try to understand how offensive it is for the Left to imply that those who support the war do so casually, and don't give a whit whether our troops die. I've seen the evidence that Bush "lied" and seriously considered it. I didn't vote for him in 2000, so don't think that I feel especially inclined to support all his often harebrained ideas. And don't think that I don't seriously question my support of the war every time a soldier or civilian dies over there. Like you, I do believe that many terrible mistakes have been made in the Administration's waging of this war. Mistakes, however, are inevitable, as is tragedy, in war. But the toll of tragredy can never surpass the value of truth.

So when Air America steals 900,000 from a kids shelter it's okay, but if you pan that soon to be diorced whackjob, your a wheel chair bound sicko.

You are the problem with America. Move to California, they left the country years ago.

P.S.For the losers that like to use race when it suits their wallet, the "pot calling the kettle black" is not a racial term. Now go whine about how you need money because you greatX3 grandmother ho, was a slave.

This administration can't account for 9 billion of Iraq's money. Is this a distraction to point out the "food for Oil" scandal as a way of keeping the TRUTH away from the American right wing god folks? 9 billion fat "we lost it" dollars. I hear there was talk of large garbage bags of money being past around in Iraq. I wonder if there will be an investigation.

Joseph

Larry, what went wrong with you when you were a kid? Mom used you as a pet play toy? you were beat up because of your chosen "preference"?
Wore you moms clothing? Dad kick the crap out of you(moms clothing?)?

I feel sorry for you.

Let's not make them any madder. maybe they will leave us alone. Shhh.

It sounds like you're making a clandestine chickenhawk charge here, Mr. Johnson. I believe I've worked out the form of government that would enable grieving mothers and combat veterans to make the key foreign policy decisions while ensuring equality and freedom as the progressives understand it. I strongly recommend you take a look here:

http://www.instapunk.com/archives/InstaPunkArchiveV2.php3?a=604

I think you'll be pleased.

Typical liberal crapola. You losers would make a maggot puke.

Yet another reason I'm grateful that you are an EX-CIA anal-ist. You are devoid of class, insight, or logic. Pure hackery at it's finest, not surprised you're hitching on to the Cindy gloom-wagon. Oh yeah, Krauthammer would destroy you in a debate...wheels or no wheels...toast, you would be. Take care larry!

Cindy Sheehan wants us to abandon this man.
What say you?

http://www.blackfive.net/main/2005/08/fighting_and_dy.html

Hmmmm......Larry, how hypocritical of you.

Liberals are continually saying that they have the right to oppose the war, or anything else they disagree with, and to shout it as loud as they want no matter what the consequences are. And they do have that right, though their judgment leaves something to be desired.

But now, according to you and other liberals, conservatives cannot criticize Cindy Sheehan and the way she is using her son to further her anti-war, anti-Bush ideologue beliefs, because she lost a son in Iraq.

Funny how that double standard works.....

And you top it all off with the usual liberal bent of smearing conservatives. Not by refuting what they say, but pointing out or ridiculing something about them. The fact that Charles Krauthammer is wheelchair bound has nothing to do with anything you had to say about him or what he wrote.

"If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq's weapons of mass destruction program." --President Bill Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998

"Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face." --Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998

"He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983." --Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998

"[W]e urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs." Letter to President Clinton, signed by: -- Democratic Senators Carl Levin, Tom Daschle, John Kerry, and others, Oct. 9, 1998

"Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process." -Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998

"We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction." -- Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002

"The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons..." -- Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002

"I will be voting to give the President of the United States the authority to use force -- if necessary -- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." -- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002

"There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years ... We also should remember we have always underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction." -- Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002

"He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do" -- Rep. Henry Waxman (D, CA), Oct. 10, 2002

"In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members ... It is clear, however, that if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons." -- Sen. "We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction." -- Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002

"Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation ... And now he is miscalculating America's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction ... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real..." -- Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003

Yep look at all those liars
