Bush had time for Terri Schiavo

The Arizona Republic
Aug. 16, 2005 12:00 AM

A couple of vacations ago, President Bush sped from Crawford, Texas, back to Washington, D.C., at 2 a.m. to sign a bill overturning 20 state and federal court rulings in the case of Terri Schiavo, a brain-dead woman.

Now he can't take five minutes out of his five-week vacation to meet Cindy Sheehan, a living, breathing woman who simply wants to know why her son died.

What's up with that?

I really don't know why our country hasn't seen that this president is not genuine or honest or caring or interested in "the people." His refusal to see Cindy is the same way he restricts his time in front of the reporters. He only comes forward when it interest him, and who he owes favors to. Cindy does know why her son died, she just wants to hear this man who put more people to death in Texas than any other governor, say I'm truly sorry. But this will never happen. This is the most closed-minded white house in history.

Friend,

A few weeks back, a story reported on this site indicated President George was likely the worst President ever, and such a moniker did not even reflect the actions of his Dick! Some would argue that past behavior is the best predictor of future behavior. In this regard, sadly, George's current actions fall exactly in line with his past. For example, he did not respect his (legal, albeit privileged) commitment to the Air National Guard, so why should he care about a Mother and her lost son? Or the other families with similar losses?

Keep the faith, as Tavis says! Time is on our side with this debacle in Iraq and the truth will eventually reach the surface. As a person with Irish heritage, I am looking very forward to what Fitzgerald and his people present to the People of this country regarding the actions of George, his Dick, and the rest of his Staff.

In this Bush is displaying that the "moral fortitude," the "values" he pretends to hold dear, and his "compassion" that he touts so strongly are, like everything else about him, lies. What was shouted out to Cindy Sheehan the other day is more the truth of Bush's time in office than anything that's come from the Bush White House: "WE DON'T CARE!" That alone is the truth, and the only truth we'll ever get from him.

Bumpa

George is a weak and cowardly man who unfortunately fooled a lot of simple minded Americans. While the evil-doer Karl Rove planned all the right moves to get his man into the highest office of the land so that he (Rove) could mastermind the undoing of our great Nation, Bush went about acting out his view of the "common man". With his laughable Texas swagger and his child-like gun-totting stance, he was able to persuade a lot of dumb Americans that the way to secure our futures in the world is to go around daring people to hit us. We all remember "Bring it on". To add a dose of morality to the mix all he had to do was start speaking of his trip to Jesus. So this is where we find ourselves today. Yes George is the worst President EVER. And yes we are stuck with this light-weight for another three years. I say if there is a God, may he help us all.

WELL SAID!!!!......THANK YOU!!!!

I have a dream...

I dream that those of us who care about our democratic republic find a way to bring power to bear on our current elected officials to stand up and demand a proper electoral system before the 2006 mid-term elections.

I dream that we are able to shame the pack-led main-stream media into covering the crimes and stupidities and arrogance and non-accountability of the administration.

I have a dream that progressive and brave candidates rise to challenge the status quo.

I have a dream that the tens of millions who have been disengaged from the electoral process make one last attempt to influence the future of our country and the planet and come out in numbers simply too large to hide in November of 2006.

I have a dream that in any precinct, county, city, or state where the exit polls and the final counted votes are off by more than 5% there are crowds of people so large in the streets that the election officials fear for their very lives and that by the time the dust is settled, every vote is fairly counted, every irregularity investigated and resolved, and every election decided fairly and respected.

I have a dream that if THAT happens, the congress of the United States will be filled with brave souls willing to SPEAK TRUTH TO POWER and NOT TAKE PRISONERS and that the Articles of Impeachment for dozens of these PNAC whack jobs will be voted and passed, and that the trials in the Senate will be swift, fair, and conclusive.

Sometimes, in my dreams, I imagine that our leaders will look at the actions of these criminals and decide to UNDO some of them, including impeaching some of their life-time appointed judges on the basis of them having been appointed by a fraudulent leader not legally empowered to put them in place -- a tough call, but one that I think will need to be done.

I have a dream that to show the world that we are giving up the arrogance of power that Democrats and Republicans alike have shown in the last five decades, we will hand over our convicted PNAC White House criminals to the World Court at the Hague for trial under any war crimes that they are indicted for. I dream that the world will take this small action as a first step towards allowing our nation back into the community of nations.

I have a dream of a democratic republic that can help the world to solve its problems and spread positive change (yes, freedom and democracy) through EXAMPLE and ACTS, rather than at the end of gun or laser beam to any nation or peoples that demonstrates that they WANT them.

I must be dreaming.

Let's get our asses to Washington on September 24 to 26 and take back our republic before it's too damn late.

"when in doubt it is all ways best to err on the side of life." g.w. bush.

except when the person in question is on death row in texas or on death row in a war perpetrated by american oil interests. then we must stay the course. thanks george.
