This isn’t about politics, it’s about grief. It’s about a growing group of ordinary citizens trying to teach this callous cowboy how to care,even as he bikes away his worries while the families of the 46 soldiers killed in the month of August alone attend funerals.

One sorely neglected aspect of the Cindy Sheehan story concerns public expression of mourning. I am appalled at the callousness of the Bush Regime of not speaking to one of the mother's of an American Hero. This Hero went to war to VOLUNTARILY to support America, and Bush's decision to go to war; and now, Bush won't even acknowledge one of his own citizens of the United States! I am very, very disappointed in the whole Republican party. They are committing treason against the citizens of The United States. Bush, HOW DARE YOU TURN YOUR BACK TO THIS WOMAN WHO LOST HER SON!! HOW DARE YOU!!! There is NOTHING any of you Republicans can say that will erase this horrendous behavior from one's mind..and you call yourselves Christians? How dare you blasphency Christ's name.

I preface this comment by stating that I am a practicing Roman Catholic. Having said that, I's like to comment on the above post questioning the Republicans professing themselves as Christians.

I agree with the author of the posting that these people denigrate Christ's name and message. What is really appalling to me is the silence of the Catholic Church in America. If ever there has been an opportunity to redeem itself from self-inflicted wounds related to the sex scandals, this has been an opportunity for the Catholic Church and other Christian denominations to come forward and take the moral lead. We see some religious leaders assisting the Crawford cause but we hear little or nothing from, dare I say it, main stream "Christian" denominations, especially the American Catholic Church.

During the Mass there is the customary Prayer of the Faithful and weekly a prayer is inserted for the safe return of our troops around the world in harms way. Many times there is a prayer inserted for the "leaders" to work for peace and justice in this country and the world. It is time for the religious leaders in this country to take the moral lead and tell their congregations to search their hearts and souls and ask God for his devine guidance for our country to restore it to world prominence and not world domination.

I also let them know that the largest protestant church in North America, Southern Baptist Coalition, have senators and Bush himself talking to them by satellite TV at their national conventions and in their churches! But I suppose that's different...go figure.

Nonetheless, I cannot see how anyone who professes to believe in a God of Love and Life can see anything good, moral or ethical about the Bush policies! I would count him as one of the worse leaders (I use that term loosely) in all of history, certainly one of the most corrupt! I pray that other humble souls and spiritual believers out there will raise their voices along side Cindy. Thousands upon thousands of our human brothers and sisters, most of them children, women and young men, have been physically and mentally mutilated and died because we have allowed it as a nation. Like Moses, we need to walk into Pharaoh Bush's House and demand to let God's People Go!!!

I didn't get to see my posts) from last evening until this morning as a result of the tremendous increase in traffic on the ADS.org website, thanks to Cindy Sheehan and supporters courageous protest in Crawford. Your response in supporting with my post is gratifying and humbling. It means a great deal to me to have a member of the clergy comment in a positive way. In my own church I do not feel comfortable sharing what I share on this website. I suppose that is a fault on my part of which I should be ashamed.

This one's about the supreme court nomination of Roberts. I spoke to a priest in the Episcopal Church today to ask them if they have a statement about this and about the war in Iraq. I sent him the statements at the above link (the Interfaith Alliance statement was very clear. All were clear. I could wish they'd do the same about this unlawful aggression.

It's hard to lose someone so close. I am very happy that you are demanding a meeting with bush. It's about time some attention was gained to the efforts to pull out of there. I don't see what good we are doing. It's just another endless war to glorify some politician. One that has no regard for those he sacrifices for his own agenda. It's killing our children and friends and who knows how many innocents over there. Stick with it. Make him hear you. Cindy, I have heard Rush and Sean badmouth you, but they are afraid to talk to you, too, just like their chickenhawk hero, George Bush. Here is a message to Rush and Sean - pick up the phone, big guys. You can talk to Cindy. Sean, didn't you go to Aruba with the media parade? Well, are you too chicken to go to Crawford and talk to Cindy? How about you, Rush? Are you too much of a coward to give Cindy some air time to defend herself against your despicable tirades? It's easy picking on someone when you don't allow them to speak. But you are a bully, and bullies are inherently cowards. Neither of you have spent one minute in the military yet you are so fond of war.

I'm sorry for your loss. However, I do not think it is realistic to expect the president of a country of millions to sit down with you for a little chit chat. There are millions of people that would love to do that for many reason. You have already done it once. What makes you so special that you should get to do it twice? I dont think he is being callous by not talking. I'm sure he feels remorse. However the president of a nation as large as this can not be expected to sit down with every person who has a problem with him or her (I'm not just talking about Bush, I'm talking about every president).

What's the precedent? If he sits down to talk with you, he is saying that anybody can talk to the president if they camp out at the entrance to his ranch or to the whitehouse.

No ill feelings towards Cindy. I just think people need to be a bit more rationale about this.

Her son was killed. That makes her special. Bush started this war. That makes him responsible. He lied us into this war. That makes him responsible for the death of Cindy's son. The man is fund-raising, riding his bike and cutting brush. So busy, yes.

I'm glad he took the time to meet with her and her husband. Looks like all the effort payed off.

Yes, she did meet with the president, that is not news as she has admitted it on camera. But she also admits that her feelings are changed since that time, and some questions have been brought up conserning his the run-up to the invasion. These are questions of the growing amount of evidence pointing to corruption and deceit that. And it is the duty of every American to hold the government that serves them accountable for sending Americans to die in a war of aggresion. Besides, there wer only two quotes that were relavent to her protest in that news article. Please, for the sake of the citizens, look at more than one source for information.

I have. I've also used a large number of GI's for sources. From her most recent statements I'd have to conclude that she is not representative in her views of the people who have chosen, like her son, to serve their country.

What's her husband up to nowadays? I don't recall her son's opinion on the Iraq war, but if it is diametrically opposed to her's then would her actions be in line with honoring his memory or would the opposite be true?

I'm just bringing up questions that deserve answers. I'm neither questioning her patriotism or her motivations, but there are questions that people have been asking and that have yet to be answered.

I have also spoken with a large number of our troops in Iraq. The majority that I speak with have expressed their gratitude towards Mrs. Sheehan for voicing an opinion that many do no have the courage to voice. I do not know what her son's veiw on the war was either. But I think that she has the right to honor her sons death in any way that she can. And there are also question that the people have been asking about the integrity of their government, and I also think that those need to be answered. This protest helps to bring these questions to the attention of the people, and let them decide their opinions.

Excuse me, but did you look at the date on that link? Yes, Cindy met with Bush after her son died, and she's had a lot to say about that meeting. Especially since she started to recover from her grief and a heck of a lot of other things about this fraudulent war became clear to anyone who cares to deal with the facts (BTW, you won't find the facts on FOX News -- or CNN, for that matter!!!)

I wonder how many times that remark is going to be posted. It's as if posting it ad nauseum will make it more relevant to anything about this issue. It seems that they are the ones using her publicity to further their own agenda of worshipping Bush their Lord, and showing support of the murder of Iraqi citizens. I believe you are getting a lot of repeated messages because folks' messages don't register for a while. It makes commentors think they didn't get their message through, so they repeat the transmission. I've recently fallen into this trap myself; I've long been a frequent contributor, but this delay is a new thing (I believe it started with the coverage of one of my new heros, Cindy).

It's absolutely wonderful that you are getting such incredible and overwhelming response! But it would be good if you could deal with this bandwidth problem, one way or another -- either let people know that their comments may not show up for a while, or start using some (dissident safe!) additional servers. I, for one, will be most happy to contribute to the cause!
