Cindy:

I am a non-poet, but I'm sending you a poem anyway. Want you to know that my husband and I are with you in spirit.

WHAT NOBLE CAUSE MR. PRESIDENT?

An obsession was held by mad men,

Evil burned in their souls.

They sent our children to fight a war,

And lied about their goals.

The Command-in-Chief will not speak

To a mother who stands in the Texas heat.

Her heart is broken, her soldier son dead,

The President's soul has turned to lead.

P.S. I am fighting with neocons on the message boards at AOL regarding your stand. You are a brave, patriotic person, and you speak for so many Americans. I was wondering what we were ever going to do about this terrible war, and then you came along. The first thing I thought about was Rosa Parks. Sometimes all it takes is one person to change things. I heard Randi Rhodes mention the same thing today. Thankgod for Air America.

Love from New Jersey to you in Texas,

Nancy

Keep your day job, you're not a poet. It's interesting that this website for Cindy leaves no room for argument........so I'll attach my thoughts...

So, Cindy Sheehan is your “Hero

you better hope you haven't been laid off in 2007-2008.........
and
you better hope your company isn't forced into bankruptcy in 2008
and
you have a locked in rate on your home in way before 2008
and
you better hope that you have no credit card debt in 2008
and
you better hope that foreigners are STILL willing to by those treasury bonds
and you better hope that your gas isn't 5.00 a gallon in 2008.............

and
just in case your hopes are displaced....don't forget in 2008 who will be leaving the white house. Send your thank you notes to BUSH! Gail remember now you heard it hear first in 2005.

That's what I'm talkin' about! Cindy Sheehan and her liberal followers need to see things reasonably, not as if they are still smoking pot like back when they were kids. Grow up Mrs. Sheehan, I'm only sixteen and I realize you're fighting for nothing with nothing. Stop standing on the side of the road, you won't get sunburn, you won't lose your voice, and maybe you'll be able to accomplish something.

Right, but they are oh so adept at standing on the side.

Did you sign up to defend our country or did you sign up to declare war on another country?

In our country you are innocent untill proven guilty. If you are found innocent of a charge, than you are set free and the charges are dropped.

You're right about one thing!

Cindy,
You go girl! Confront this SOB low life who doesn't deserve to clean my toilet much less be the leader of the free world. This war will accomplish nothing! George Bush will absolutely go down in history as this country's worst president and you can take credit for his downfall Tear him Down!

Thank You Cindy for sending your message to the world. I do not have a son or daughter in this war but I felt all a long this war was wrong and only for oil. You are speaking for so many of us in the USA. Our children are the future of this nation and they are not to be thrown away like used paper dolls. Thank you again for your bravery and our heart goes to you for the loss of your son.

You are clueless. Cindy speaks for the liberals in the US who are obviously not "so many of us " that George Bush still got elected. Think about it if you can. The remaining brain cells you didn't kill from marijauna use might be able to do some thinking for once. I didnt know hippies used computers or went ont the internet though, you learn something new everyday. Unless of course you're a close minded liberal hippie freak.

Withdrawal is a sign of weakness??? Arrogance, stupidity, fantasy, incompetence, denial, disconnect, greed, corruption and mass murder then must be signs of strength!!!!!

It is notable that all of the tough right wingers who rushed other people's children to war in Iraq are the same brave souls who hid behind their mother's skirts to avoid the draft in Vietnam.

Your hero Bill Clinton fled to Canada. I wouldn't be suprised if you were smoking the reefer right next to him up there. The right-wingers hid but ended up going, the liberals ran and smoked pot the whole time. For that I thank you and your liberal buddies for not helping out in Vietnam, which may be the reason the War was so dragged out. Thanks again!

Sadaam Hussein was one of the most corrupt person ever. He also killed 25 million people, which is twice as many as Hitler. Your arrogance is probably getting in the way so, in case you were wondering, Hitler killed 12 million people.

.......that OUR government not only supported, but supplied them with biological weapons and more....to be used on others! Haven't you seen the smiles and handshakes of our current leaders with Saddam from years gone by...as long as he was doing their bidding they considered him a friend...even though they KNEW he slaughtered hundreds of thousands including wiping out entire villages of Kurds with the biological weapons they supplied him with! And in case you didn't know it, the reason the Iranians took American's hostage was because THEY KNEW Bush Senior was behind supplying weapons to Saddam during the war with Iran and Iraq....and now Bush Jr. will continue to sow seeds of fear about Iran and their intentions with nuclear weapons so he can rally support for the next war he wants....with Iran! They have caused NO hostile actions against another country, they have way less in the way of weapons (especially nuclear) than the US and yet he has already started his campaign. If Bush had a brain (Oh yea, I forgot he does...Karl Rove) he would realize how vulnerable he is making the US with lack of military here and also economically how he is bankrupting OUR country with OUR money (not his) and get OUR men and women back to the United States to watch what comes up here....and quit spending OUR money for HIS war! I pray for the day he is charged with treason against the people of the United States and war crimes against the people of Iraq for a pre-empted war that was meant to promote his hidden self-serving aganda! Leave Cindy Sheehan alone...she deserves a lot more than just time with him....she deserves to see those men responsible held accountable to the people of this country....and God bless her for taking the time to do so!

You're a little misguided. Read your history. While we supported Sadam, we did so as a result of Jimmy Carter's reluctance to help the Shah of Iran. This resulted in the Iran/Iraq War. would you rather chose the lesser of two evils? thats what we did. Also, we never supplied him with bio weapons, he produced them in his mobile weapons factories. That's also in the history books.

Broadbrushing is a bad tactic in an argument. One can never support the basis of their argument with facts. If you can, please give factual support for such a ridiculous statement. I'm sure it will be notable that none such proof exists as many, many men served in Nam and many, many died in Nam. Some ran, but they were, in fact, the small minority. Those figures are available for you to find since President Carter granted amnesty to the draft dodgers of that war and the information is in the public domain.

How dare you use your sons death to promtoe your ideas. It takes a pretty patheic person to do such a thing. Yours sons death while tragic saved lives. And while you dont agree with the war yours son was an adult and knew what he was getting into. Why is it that the ohter family memembers who have lost loved ones are not acting as imature as you. You are a disgracful mother. You are making a mochery of your sons death and you should be ashamed.

Dear Lady,

Like all the poor ignorant boys who join the military to feel like men, they soon find out that they have been lied to. They reject the killing at first; then become so dulled by the horror they just keep pulling the trigger. Casey didn't have the foggiest idea of what was going to happen to him. He DID NOT save lives. He was part of a military that has TAKEN over 100,000 lives. Iraq did not attack the U.S., dear Lady. Remember? Iraq is a sovereign country that we brought war to in order to grab control of their oil. That plan was formulated over 30 years ago. I think Cindy Sheehan is Rosa parks in disguise, and I applaud her.

How long was Casey in? He was in long enough to know what he got into and he could've left at any time prior to the war. If memory serves, he didn't leave, but he re-upped.

"Casey Sheehan
May 29, 1979: Casey Sheehan born.
May 2000: Sheehan joins the United States Army.
August 2003: Sheehan re-enlists knowing that his unit would be sent to Iraq."

Any questions? Next.....

WHY did our commander in chief send Casey to die for a lie?

Please elaborate. What was THE lie?

Any mother who gives her child's life in the service of this country (and that is exactly what Ms. Sheehan has done) has the right to petition her president. We all have that right, but mothers of fallen soldiers deserve it even more.

Why do they have that right, their children weren't drafted? Criticize the children for joining the Army, not the president for bettering the lives of millions of people in Iraq and protecting your freedom.

that was clearly and effectively stated and has nothing to do with bipartisan politics or name calling. There is no reason to hate Cindy Sheehan, even if people on this site do not agree with her. In fact, she is quite brave and only excersing her rights that have been fought for and protected in previous wars, which is her right under the consitituion to freedom of speech.

We should celebrate instead of hate. I would like to encourage the indviduals that post their comments against Cindy Sheehan, that instead of raging with hateful words and offensive posts that are embarrassing to most sane and decent American's, instead they should find a way to clearly articulate their thoughts in a responsbile manner. Healthy debate of differing opinions and veiws is one thing, but dirty words and terribly offensive statements say more about the person who posts them then about their directed target and are nothing more than some sort of impotent rage.

Without knowing who you are we know your kind! You are part of a pathetic small borderline imbecilic legion of followers with the sensitivity of a snake, loyal to arguably the dumbest man to ever inhabit the white house. You and all like you dishonor America by your cold and callous remarks.Your failure to recognize and honor the true meaning of democracy for which so many have given their lives brings shame to all Americans.Ms Sheehan deserves all of the honor ,recognition and respect, not only for what she is doing for all Americans, but for the ultimate sacrifice that she has made in losing her son unnecessarily to this illegal war.
So with an additonal note of sympathy for your kind I sincerely recommend you crawl back into whatever hole it is you came out of and please take that jackass of a president with you,as your scurrelous conduct is shameful and for which there is no place in the America I stand for.

Cindy,

Please ask President Bush what the "end game" is in Iraq. Ask him to define and quantify exactly what Iraq must look like for our troops to come home.

If anyone knows where and when the Bush administration has officially said or published this information, please post it.

P.S. - If it weren't for people like you Cindy, we would still be slugging it out in Vietnam.

We'll come home when all the oil is gone.

Baghdad Cindy, why don't you meet up with Hanoi Jane?

Did anyone ask for the endgame in any of clinton's wars? how about ww II?

No, if it weren't for people like Cindy Sheehan and Jane Fonda, we would have WON the war in VietNam instead of having turned tail and run leaving unfinished business and losing the war.

Shameful Mother,or Heartless, Mindless Sheep?

Instead of attacking in knee-reflex fashion, anyone who opposes your political agenda, you should take a look at the objective facts and try drawing reasoned conclusions.

If the Iraq war is justified, why was it necessary for the President to formulate an entirely new rationalization when his claims of WMD's and Saddam/Al Qaeda connection proved to be false?

Since Monday,May 11,1846, the first time the president of the U.S. LIED to congress to acquire authorization and funds to conduct an unjustifiable war of agression against another sovereign nation, never, to my knowledge, has a president SWITICHED the reason for INITIATING a war to some matter entirely distinct from the original justification.

No intelligible explanation of the established objective facts of the matter can fail to produce a conclusion extremely damning to the president.

The best that can be concluded is that he is abjectly and dangerously incompetent. And even to achieve that, one must stretch the limits of plausiblity, and bankrupt one's capacity for benefit of doubt.

A more reasonable conclusion is that our White House is occupied by an amoral, power drunk, sociopathic war criminal, who's impeachment would only serve as a first step towards justice.

Are you so incapable of dispassionate scrutiny, that no matter how loudly the facts may scream a conclusion at you, if it clashes with your political agenda, "then the facts be damned" is your matter-of-course, automatic response?!?!??

I think, from listening to her (you might try it), and reading Cindy's writings, that her "political agenda" is very much at odds with mine.

But that does not stop me from seeing the righteousness of her cause.

Or the modesty of her demands.

Or the respectful civility with which she communicates them.

You need to stop mindlessly waving your blood-soaked flag, open your eyes, and face the truth.

If you are so angry about your son dying in Iraq, then were you comfortable with letting him join the Army in the first place? There is no doubt in my mind that you are not proud of your son, but dont mask that pride with all this anger. The Army goes to war, and yes, people do die. But, in the case of your son, he died to save thousands if not millions of Iraqi, American, and World citizens. He made the biggest sacrifice anyone can make, and he joined on his own accord. There was no draft, and I am sure no one stuck a gun to his head and told him to join the Army, so where do you find the reasoning to blame George Bush for your son's death? Not only do I not understand your reasoning, but I don't understand your cause. Don't you realize that the Army is the only reason that you can sit in Crawford and criticize the war, the president, and this country. If not for brave people like your son and others in the military, the ungratefuls of America, you and Michael Moore included, would not be able to speak so freely and openly. I just don't understand, I know what its like to lose a loved one, but what are you doing? What are you doing?

Man o man do the criminals in the White House ever have you hood-winked! The Bush administration's war in Iraq has nothing whatsover to do with making us safer. It's one thing to use the military to defend US security, but this war has only made us less safe. It is based entirely upon lies. There were no WMD, there was no effort by Saddam's gov't to get nuclear materials from Niger (as Bush claimed in his 2003 state of the union address), there was no connection between the Iraqi gov't and the 9/11 attacks, and there was no connection between the Iraqi gov't and Al Quaeda. It was all lies. And the resistance fighters in Iraq are fighting because they know that a US imposed gov't, even if it's made to look like a democracy, is going to be all about stealing their natural resources (oil) and making the Iraqi people low-wage slaves. So the question is, "what should we do when the US gov't is using our military in a criminal war?" Should we just accept this--or should we demand the truth, demand that our military personnel not be used in this way (and killed for the profit of Bush and his friends), and demand accountability from our gov't? Bush's war is a crime that's costing the lives of our precious young people in the military and the lives of thousands of innocent Iraqis. It has nothing to do with national defense. Cindy Sheehan and the other protesters in Crawford are national heros--true patriots. Please start questioning what you're veiwing on FOX news and think this stuff through for yourself. Once you start thinking about it independently--once you start really thinking about Bush's justifications for this war, you see that there's no truth in what he's saying.

Please define for me WMD! If you people, i.e. liberals, are criticizing the president over the roughly 1,900 soldiers who have died in Iraq, think of it this way. On September 11th, 2001 two planes were flown into the World Trade Centerand 6,000 people died. Do you therefore not consider the planes used to kill 6,000 people WMD's? Just because it doesn't use Uranium or other radioactive material, does not mean that it is not a weapon of mass destruction. In fact you yourself with your anti-American propaganda are a weapon of mass destruction who is tearing apart my country and its moral, cultural and religous backing and values. George Bush was elected president twice, if you don't like it than you can leave. Bye!!!

Do you ever need to study history. In fact, you don't have to go back too far. Read quotes from President Clinton and those in his administration. They, too, believed with certainty that there were WMD in Iraq, Iraqi's had gone to Niger and with the news now of "Able Danger", it appears Clinton et al knew more than they told us and the incoming Bush Administration in 2001. Whew! Go read and come back when you have something other than the liberal line and agenda to spout. Tell me, is ignorance truly bliss?

I doubt Cindy's effort will have an impact on President Bush, but it has an impact on those of us watching. The first soldier killed in Iraq was one to many. Its well past time we ended this lunacy, and the senceless loss of life and limb. Someone wake up the president.
Irwin Faulkner, Houston, TX

Saddam Hussein killed 25 million people. The loss of 1,900 lives is worth that value of not having any such holocaust happen again. Hitler killed 12 million people, and how many people died in WWII? Do you want to tell me that the massacre of the Jews was okay, considering that 1,900 is only a fraction of the deaths that occured during WWII.

Yours Truly,
A 16-year-old Republican

Son, you are wise beyond your years. People have too soon forgotten all of those things you have learned and remember. Sadly, you are witnessing that. Beginning with those who protested the VietNam war until now, we have seen a decline in duty to God and country and morality under the guise of freedom of speech. It has weakened this country and her people, but you give hope to those of us who still believe in God, country, morality and absolutes.

Cindy----if you can find Bin Laden and turn him in, then by all means help the USA. Once that is done, it will be one step closer to bringing everyone we love home sooner. And thank you for remembering all those who died on 9-11. Bush did make the statement that we will punish those who did this to America and our families. Some of us will not rest until that statement is fulfilled. "Your welcome" for the ones who will go after the terrorists who took your son's life because it is the same people who took away our love ones too.

Remember the kid who had to live in a plastic bubble to avoid infection? Bush is the political "bubble boy" who has to be kept in a criticism-free environment. Cindy Sheehan is the pin that is bursting his bubble.

How dare Cindy Sheehan disrupt our beloved leader's vacation! Does she have the temerity to believe that her son's death is more important than
our dear leader's needed rest and relaxation?

I couldn't agree more. Cindy looks like a fool.

She doesn't look like a fool! She is a fool!!!!

Yep!

George W. Bush is -NOT- my beloved leader. He is a disgrace to our nation and to the office of the presidency.

A blow job is more humane than killing innocent people.

There is no flag big enough to cover the shame of killing innocent people.

While I can sympathize with you losing your son, the military is the life he chose. What do you think a person is training for when they join the military? They are training to be soldiers, he was not drafted, he chose this life. You are disgracing your sons name. You need to go home and get some grief counseling.
