Getting petitions to the right City Council Member in New York City

By sono osato - Posted on 09 August 2006

I attended a teach-in NYC last month, and decided to do my part by telling my friends about the National movement to pressure the House to begin Impeachment proceedings. I also did alittle cut and paste to create a petition that I have shared with people willing to circulate it.

I'd like to get on the same page with others in NYC who are acting on the same level: circulating petitions to send to the City Council to get them to vote on passing a resolution for impeachment of Bush/Cheney.

What needs to be established is who on the NYC City Council (meaning all districts in all 5 boroughs) supports impeachment, thus who is willing to put the petitions on the table of the City Council to vote on a resolution.

I've had difficulty finding a City Council Member who is willing to reply to my queries much less support the effort, and I have limited time that I can donate to this cause.

Is there anyone out there that has turned up the information of who on the NYC City Council will work with us? I'd like to establish the point person and get the petitions to them.

Spreading the word, giving out petitions that people can circulate and send in themselves, and pointing them in the right direction is the extent to which I can get involved.

It seems to me that it's a waste of energy for everyone in NYC who is active on my level to be pursuing the same question of who is pro-impeachment, (kinda like reinventing the wheel), when info can be shared and centralized, making this whole first step on a local level more expiditious.

It crossed my mind that the teach-ins, at least the one I went to were filled with people who just wanted to vent, but I know there has to be people out there that went forward.

Sono,

If you want to be mentored by people that have passed these resolution in their own city and speak to experts in constitutional law contact me and I will direct you to those people.
