GOOD MORNING AMERICA (07:00 AM ET) - ABC

ROBIN ROBERTS

(Off Camera) The mother of another Marine killed in Iraq is on a desperate mission this morning. Cindy Sheehan is demanding to speak to the president about her son, so she's camped outside Mr. Bush's ranch in Texas. ABC's John Yang joins us from there in Crawford, Texas this morning.

JOHN YANG, ABC NEWS

(Off Camera) Good morning, Robin. Cindy Sheehan has already been visited at her campsite here by two of the president's top aides, but she says that's not good enough.

CINDY SHEEHAN, SON DIED IN IRAQ

I was not walking over there. I was walking in the ditch.

DEMONSTRATOR, FEMALE

We didn't violate ...

JOHN YANG

(Voice Over) Today begins Cindy Sheehan's fourth day camped out alongside the road leading to President Bush's Texas ranch. She says she's not leaving until Mr. Bush personally explains why Casey, her 24 year-old Army specialist son, was killed in Baghdad last year.

CINDY SHEEHAN

I deserve answers from the president. You know, he, he stole my oldest child from me. And the rest of my members deserve these answers, too. And really, the rest of America.

JOHN YANG

(Voice Over) Sheehan spends her days trying to find shade from the brutal Texas sun. She's already had heat sickness. She uses a portable toilet and at night sleeps under a small tent. And now, a new concern. Sheehan and her supporters feel they'll be arrested on Thursday when Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld arrive to brief the president.

JOHN YANG

(Off Camera) Despite those fears, Robin, ABC News has been told by White House officials that they know of no imminent plans for arrest.

ROBIN ROBERTS

(Off Camera) Thank you, John. John Yang in Crawford, Texas. And coming up, Charlie will talk with the mother, Cindy Sheehan.

CHARLES GIBSON, ABC NEWS

(Off Camera) A lot of messages like that. More now on that mother that Robin was talking about who lost a son in Iraq and is camped out on the road to President Bush's Texas ranch.

CHARLES GIBSON

(Voice Over) Cindy Sheehan is her name. She says she's not moving until the president meets with her. And I had a chance to speak with her a few minutes ago.

CHARLES GIBSON

(Off Camera) Cindy Sheehan, bottom line, what do you hope to accomplish with all this?

graphics: waiting for president bush

graphics: mom stands her ground

CINDY SHEEHAN, SON DIED IN IRAQ

Bottom line, I hope to accomplish what's happening. We're having a tremendous dialogue in this country about the occupation of Iraq and we're putting the occupation back on the front page where it belongs and back in the mainstream media where it belongs.

CHARLES GIBSON

(Off Camera) Do you really expect the president to see you?

CINDY SHEEHAN

No, I really don't. But, you know, even if he doesn't, we've accomplished so much in the few, few short days that we've been here. And the outpouring of love and support from America and the world has just been so amazing and, and gratifying to us who are staying out here in Crawford.

CHARLES GIBSON

(Voice Over) You did have a meeting with the president just after Casey had died, and he came to console ...

CINDY SHEEHAN

Right.

CHARLES GIBSON

(Voice Over) ... the family. Why didn't you make the points to him then?

CINDY SHEEHAN

Well, mostly because my son had only been dead for about nine weeks and I was in a deep state of shock and a -deep state of grief, and I didn't really know, the Dalfour weapons of mass destruction report hadn't come out, the - Senate intelligence report, the 9/11 Commission report, the Downing Street memos, and those all just proved to me that this war was based on lies and it never should have happened. And so I went from a deep state of shock to a deep state of anger.

CHARLES GIBSON

(Off Camera) I want to play for you a brief soundbite from a man named Jim Boskovitch who was interviewed by George Stephanopoulos this past Sunday and whose son just did die as well in Iraq. I want you to listen to what he had to say.

JIM BOSKOVITCH, SON KILLED IN IRAQ

I firmly believe, and I would echo my son's feelings on this, that it is very, very important for our country to remain steadfast and complete the mission that they set out to accomplish.

CHARLES GIBSON

(Off Camera) There are a lot of parents who feel that way, who've lost children over there. What, what do you say to them? Does what you're doing in any way disrespect their loss?

CINDY SHEEHAN

No. I don't believe so. I believe that the only way we can honor our children's memory is -by bringing the rest of them home alive. But I'd like to say to these people is, number one, I wish they could tell me what the mission is 'cause the mission changes all the time and the mission is very ill-defined. And, number two, I would never, ever question how a parent has to grieve their loss because his son came home the same way my son came home, and I honor the way he feels, and I, and I also honor that this is America and there's - differing viewpoints and we all have the right to express our viewpoints. And I reach out to every single family who, who has lost loved ones in this war because we're all going through the same pain. And I just want to say that our children are being honored, and, and a lot of them died saving their buddies and that's what we're trying to do. We're trying to save their buddies.

CHARLES GIBSON

(Off Camera) And you stay where you are, camped on the road to Crawford?

CINDY SHEEHAN

Yes. Until the end of August, or until George Bush meets with me, or until I get arrested, whichever one comes first.

CHARLES GIBSON

(Voice Over) You anticipate there's a possibility of arrest?

CINDY SHEEHAN

There's been some rumors going around that if we're not gone by Thursday, and if we won't leave by Thursday, we're gonna get arrested.

CHARLES GIBSON

(Off Camera) Cindy Sheehan, thanks for being with us. I appreciate it. All the ...

CINDY SHEEHAN

Well ...

CHARLES GIBSON

(Off Camera) All the best.

CINDY SHEEHAN

Thank you so much for having me on. Thank you.

Charles Gibson may as well be on the White House staff with the tenor of his questions for Cindy. What was his point in asking Cindy to comment on the other parent's support for the Iraq war? I believe Gibson was simply toeing the Bush Co./MSM cheerleader line. Did you notice how he claimed many parents of dead soldiers feel support for the Iraq war? How many such parents did he actually quote? One!

Why did Gibson not ask Cindy abour the support she is receiving from other parents of dead soldiers and from the veterans for peace. Gibson did not dare mention any of that.

In summary, Gibson has shown himself to be a spineless cheerleader for the Bush administration and one of the reasons the MSM can not be trusted for real news. Do they award Emmys for best performance by a propagandist?

They are called "Press Prostitutes".

Any other questions?

Are there really any other questions?

He and all the others -- Press Prostitutes.

Today's New York Times forum (8/10/05) on the Maureen Dowd column is saturated with outrageous comments that are trying to slime Cindy Sheehan and her demonstrations and interviews. Similarly, our local newspaper in Glens Falls, NY, which has eliminated all anti administration columnists, ran a story about Cindy Sheehan, but the article contained twice as much about pro war mothers as about Cindy. I'm concerned that all this attention on Cindy Sheehan may be diverting attention from the Downing Street memos and exposure by congress of the administration's deceptions and lies to "justify" starting the war. The media is very happy to focus on Cindy's demonstrations while continuing to ignor the stories which could lead to an impeachment of Bush et. al.
