Diane Feinstein routs Attorney General -- stunned silence ensues!

This was, the most memorable moment of this morning's Judiciary hearing ABOUT WIRETAPPING AMERICANS!!. Essentially, it went like this:
Senator Dianne Feinstein : "About FISA, you say that the President has the authority to wiretap Americans without warrants due to his war powers under Article 2, correct?"
Attorney General Gonzales: "Yes."
Senator Dianne Feinstein : "And I got a letter from your associate saying that the President could act because Congress had not set up a statute. Well, that's not true. The FISA law clearly says that the President can eavesdrop without warrants for 15 days after a declaration of war."
Attorney General Gonzales:"Yes, but we didn't have a declaration of war, only an authorization to use military force, so we couldn't work with that provision."
Senator Dianne Feinstein : "So you're saying that the AUMF does not amount to a declaration of war?"
Attorney General Gonzales:"Obviously they are different."
Senator Dianne Feinstein : "So if the AUMF is not a declaration of war, the president shouldn't have WAR powers!"
Attorney General Gonzales:"................."silence for a very long time..
(whispers in the chamber...)

DonP Its fun to read, totally meaningless but fun never the less. We all know this information. Most of us have known this since 2003. Congress has known this since 2002. What has changed? We the people have lost most of our liberties under the patriot act, an act passed by both houses of a complicit Congress. Spector is working to assure that the first and fourth amendment are statutorily removed. Elections around the country are a farce. Democrats slop at the same trough as the Republicans. Dissent is no longer allowed on public property. Try critizing Bush & co in your local paper. Conyers still cannot get a simple majority of Democrats to sign onto the bill for investigation. Enjoy the comedic sideshows but, always remember the real stuff happens in the dark of the moon while America watches American Idol.
Comments that deflate your activism might as well come from rush limbaugh. If the writer does not stir you to action, they are adding nothing and might be subtracting from our ability to turn this mess around.
1. Believing that it a conspiracy that you cannot fight just stops your fighting back. First of cousre they plan, that doesn't make it a conspiracy, just planning we need to discover and expose, and second - they aren't all that #@$%!$ing competent Enron, Iraq, Katrina hello!!!
They have a lot of well paid(off) well placed helpers all over the damn place. Start picking them, exposing them and defeating them (hello Joe). And we begin to win. Celebrate every victory
2. We don't "all know the information" there are many many good people, in your house, your neighbourhood, your county, your state your country that do not yet get it all -- I don't get it all -- they need more connections more encouragement more anger more validation that it's not only morally wrong, but legally wrong.
3. The problem is not laws or iraq or a "stupid" person in power, it is that the media produces the spackle that covers everything up, makes everything pretty. Until mainstream progressives challenge the whole pile of of info-crap, it's not going to work. Katrina cut through it like butter, Feinstein cut through it. Some reporters noticed Bush's cabal is show and substance because of a storm, with Fienstien's recent effort a real law based, strict-constitutuion-loving publisher might suddenly notice her arguement and then won't let it go until the cabal is behind bars.
Let there be one two three truth revealing events like katrina --to misquote. This effort by Diane is a katrina-like event, is there coverage? Not yet, might there be? I dunno, some of those 'patriot reporters' out there really are you know, they just have horrible educations, right wing publishers and a context that's hard to see out of.
Like virtue, cynicism is its own reward, but it is not virtue.
You should help out, patting yourself on the back for feeling bad dosen't help out.
I have often wondered how the 'bushcons' were assuring they had the right to act under the War Powers article, when there was no Declaration of War. Since none of the Senators have raised this issue before, I thought I had missed something.
Where have these Senators been? They have access to constitutional lawyers...
Why hasn't this stunning argument surfaced long ago?

Since Congress did not declare this as a Declaration of War, as only Congress can do, why does Mr. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfield and Mr. Gonzales think they can defy the law and make the rule of law as they go along, this seems to be the theme of the WHIG.
Given the fact that these same people neglected to do their duty in the last conflict (Vietnam) they seem to feel they are among the elite and there fore it is not necessary for them to abide by any law they do not agree with. Is this the reason Mr. Bush attaches "Signing Statements" to anything he feels he might want to change later.
But our Constitution means nothing to this corrupt group, as Bush stated "It"s Just A -- Peice of Paper, although he swore an oath to defend it. I wonder if this could be considered perjury on his part.
Why would this administration not contact FISA and do everything the correct way? Makes one wonder what they are hiding??
Yes, Attorney General Gonzales, you continue to defend Mr. Bush and continue to say he is correct.. When can we expect a answer from you?
The people of this nation are also watching "Big Brother".. Would these acts not be considered treason, and a impeachable offense??
