Berkeley Puts Impeachment on Ballot

By davidswanson - Posted on 28 June 2006

A lot of cities have passed pro-impeachment resolutions. Last night Berkeley, Calif., was the first to put impeachment on a ballot initiative. Some City Council Members were hesitant going into the meeting. It helped that Berkeley presented Cindy Sheehan an award last night and that she thanked them and then urged them to put impeachment on the ballot. It also helped that Daniel Ellsberg came to the meeting and spoke in favor of the initiative. Time is tight for petition drives to put impeachment on the ballot in your town in November. But you can lobby your local government to put it on there, as Berkeley has done. You'll be sure to interest the media, and there's little need to worry about an impeachment ballot initiative passing!
