To Kerry, Fire Bush!

During the 2004 Presidential Race, John Kerry was called naive. I started to notice this in the emails sent over his mailing list since the election. The most glaring example has been his Fire Rove campaign. Clearly Kerry has lost his focus on the big picture, because Rove shouldn't be the only one fired. It should be Bush, Cheney, and all of their top advisers.

In 2003 Bush called for war on Iraq because Saddam Hussein was supposedly developing and/or possessed weapons of mass destruction. After toppling Saddam zero weapons of mass destruction were found, which matched up with what the United Nations' inspectors had said prior to the invasion.

Back in May 2005, the Downing Street Memo was published. That memo recorded minutes during the British Prime Minister's meeting on July 23, 2002, eight months before the United States invaded Iraq. Other memos have since been released, and they all paint a picture that the Bush administration was intent on invading Iraq despite little if any intelligence supporting their case for war.

With the recent sentencing of two reporters for revealing the identity of CIA agent Valarie Wilson, an investigation into the source of the leak led to Karl Rove, Bush's closest adviser. Karl Rove had mentioned her husband's name to the conservative columnist Robert Novak and then to Mathew Cooper, a reporter of Time magazine.

This latest saga began when Valerie Wilson's husband, former ambassador Joseph Wilson, took a trip in 2002 to Niger to investigate a report that claimed that Saddam Hussein had attempted to obtain yellow-cake uranium to be used in the production of nuclear weapons. Wilson found no such evidence, and this clearly contradicted one of Bush's primary reasons for invading Iraq.

Three months after the war began, Wilson disclosed his findings in an Op-Ed article that appeared in the New York Times, and shortly thereafter Robert Novak and Mathew Cooper questioned Karl Rove about Wilson in which Rove revealed that Wilson is married to a CIA operative.

With news of Rove's involvement, John Kerry naively began his Fire Rove campaign because Bush vowed to fire the source of that leak. But Kerry has missed the bigger picture with his Fire Rove campaign because this is just one piece in an ongoing scandal.

The pieces that we have on this scandal so far are the reality that no WMDs were found in Iraq, the Downing Street memo, and Joseph Wilson's investigation which all point to what everyone already knows: Bush didn't lie about a blow-job in the oval office. He lied his way into Iraq. That he lied to goto war that has killed tens of thousands of Iraqis and nearly 2,000 US troops. So with Rehnquist on the verge, Kerry should not be calling for the firing of Rove. He should be calling for the firing of Bush, Cheney, and all of their top advisers.

Thanks - will post these as separate articles - they're great

For a party that talks tough...and smears everyone...they sure don't hold their party to the rule of law...seems as if anything goes to get their own way... How do they get along with each other? And yes, Kerry should call for Bush's impeachment...not just, I would do it differently.

And this is democracy at its best. Where are we headed as a nation...it appears for sometime now down the tubes.

We have become more of a police nation. We are security checked by everyone for everything. It is distrubing to see our leaders stand in public and tell us with straight faces that we are winning the war.

Well...how befitting of the title of this commentary.

Give 'em enough rope and they'll...
Well when is enough rope enough rope? When will the last scandal finally bring these neocons to the scales of justice? Never? Are all these posts and afterdowningstreet.org just blowing steam?-- just detritus in blo wing in the wind of corporate owned media and corporate owner neocons?

EVERY SINGLE CLAIM has been disproven about Iraq and WMD. All.
How could even a first grade schoolteacher say with a straight face that they should trust their prez, let alone the ma instream press?

AND WHY ON EARTH-- IN THE FACE OF THE MOST CRIMINAL GOVERNMENT THIS COUNTRY HAS EVER SEEN, HAS KERRY BEEN SO INEFFECTIVE? HIM AND THE DEMOCRATS-- ALL! IS KERRY REALLY GOING TO STAND UP AND TAKE ON THE SYSTEM, AS HE DID IN VIETNAM-- OR I S HE GOING TO SUBTLY ENABLE THIS ADMISTRATION ALONG THE LINES OF THE NEW YORK TIMES-- i.e. "GEE, WE'LL VOTE FOR IRAQ INVASION, EVEN THOUGH WE DON'T LIKE YOU NEOCONS VERY MUCH. OOPS. SCREWED UP. LOTS OF OUR BOYS GETTING KILLED. WELL. GUESS WE BETTER S END MORE TROOPS. UMMM..."

Somebody light a serious fire under Kerry's and the Democrats' tails or lets impeach them too for gross negligence in the face of an ultra-criminal regime of neocons.n

Wait for it: perhaps Special Prosecutor Fitzgerald has a little surprise for the President and Vice President, based on a conspiracy to defraud the United States (section 371 Title 18 of the US Code)? Such as putting forward false evidence in a deliberate attempt to persuade Congress (an agency of the United States), to vote to go to war on Iraq, even when the falsity of the "evidence" was known at the time?
I can't wait to see a blogger give us a timeline showing when the President and VP must have known that the information they used to persuade Congress was false ...

I have been recieving these emails from John F. Kerry, also the ones related to his campaigns to fire Donald Rumsfeld and Karl Rove. And I agree that these men need to go. But it seems to me if I were Kerry, I would be targeting the administration altogether. I don't know a single person in Bush's administration who has been truthful to us or openly critical of the President.

Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rove, Rumsfeld, they all need to be impeached and removed, and we need Senator Kerry to support that.
